1100 hrs on my zd326s. still running strong apart from a mower deck gearbox that just went out on me in pretty spectacular fashion but at this point it doesn't owe me anything. It takes a beating up here in our SW PA springs when the grass is growing faster than I can keep up with it so often times I find myself playing catchup until summer comes in to slow it down. I replaced the rear tires with some carlisle garden tractor tires that have some mild lugs on them. greatly improved the mower's traction in slick conditions and doesn't tear up the yard at all unless you're being careless. I would venture to say it tears it up less because it doesn't spin as much. I wish kubota made mowers to handle larger area mowing like toro does but I suppose that's what their tractors are for. The 1211 and 1611 look like nice machines, wish I had the coin for one.

This video makes it look like a gravy job. Be warned...4WD models have none of the beautiful real estate to work under like the 2WD Denali in this video. Snaking the old line assembly out and getting the new one into position takes finesse and patience. Some videos even show the tech removing (temporarily) the driver side motor mount to gain necessary clearance... 👀 🙈

@TheTexican05
@TheTexican05 9 ай бұрын
If you have a 4WD model, I encourage you to call around the most reputable dealers and shops in your area for estimates. It's NOT a job for an average DIY person. Sometimes, due to all the tools and mess required, it's better to pay a pro who's done it before...than to lose an entire weekend + multiple trips to the store for new tools and parts. You find out real quick what your time and money are worth. i.e...there are jobs I've done that I would have happily paid not to do... 👀 😖

I did my 4x4 Sierra, 2011. it was a huge pain, unbolted the motor mounts & jacked up the block a few inches, just don't go too much. Even then it was nearly impossible, I have read some guys drop the differential to make the room instead. in any case, I am trying to find a fully flexible hose option rather than the OEM replacement, they will start to leak again at the union where the flex hose & metal hose marry up. @@TheTexican05

Kubota is more comfortable overall. Scag is easier to change blades and much easier to change belts. I still prefer Kubota just for comfort, but I have a yard that takes 6hrs to mow and I'll send it to the shop for a belt change. For commercial purposes, Scag, for comfort, Kubota. Both are excellent

One of my lawyers was bragging about his new $19,000.00 Kubota zero turn mower. I just retired financially secure for the next 150 years and bought a 10 year old JD Z-225 non-commercial series with a blown engine for $300.00. After install of new engine and tires I'm at under 1500.00 into it. I like my mower more lol.

In 2009 I saw an ad on Craigslist for a 1992 Grasshopper diesel zero turn. I thought it was fake, turns out it was real. Seller was asking $650, deck had a bad gearbox but mower came with spare parts and spare used gearbox. I got it for $625, made 1 good gearbox out of 2, and it's been running, mowing, and sipping diesel fuel (uses half the fuel of a gasoline engine) ever since (14 years and counting). I like my mower even better than yours, and WAY more than your lawyers.
