I used Boeshield years ago on my 6.2 Mercruiser I/O and my mechanic hated it and threatened to not work on it if I continued using it! It works but it's extremely messy and not worth the effort, especially if you need to get it off! On a better note, I splashed my new 255 FSH Sport H today and soaked the engines with Yamishield before we went out. Thanks Will for the tips! I've been boating for 30 years but I'm brand new to Jet Boating. Been binging on your content the past few weeks and ordered new bow rollers, a Magna grill mount and marine mat kit from you!

Hey buddy my wife and I love all your videos they are so helpful and so spot on! Thanks to you we purchased our first 2024 Yamaha 222 SE here in Long Beach Ca. We are getting ready for our first salt water trip to Catalina after our first great trip to lake Havasu. . . I just wanted to ask after a salt water trip like that other than a good flushing do you ever rinse out or off the engine itself with fresh water? Or is that not necessary with this spray? Thank you!
@JetBoatPilot6 ай бұрын
@SimplyMeSkinCareMedSpa not really necessary with this spray but won't hurt if you do a light rinse ( no pressure washer). Thank you for the kind words! Enjoy your new toy!

How often should I spray the engine? (Using the boat in salt water)
@JetBoatPilot Жыл бұрын
Maybe once every 6 months. I guess it depends on how often you rinse the engines off with fresh water. If the engines never get salt water on them maybe once per year would be good.

@JetBoatPilot Question: I just bought a Seadoo Switch (kinda your fault 😂) and I am wondering if I should not only do this to my engine bay, but what about the podium/helm where there is a quick access panel in the front to reach the electronics/fuses? Thanks for your videos and awesome products!
@JetBoatPilot Жыл бұрын
It's rare that water gets in back there so not a big of a deal, however if you get a spray protectant that is made to spray on electronics (make sure it's specified on the can) it can't hurt. We don't do it.

Great info, quick quesction can i Corrosion X be used on outboard motors? For both Mercury and Yamaha?
@JetBoatPilot3 ай бұрын
Yes any watercraft can benefit from lubricants like corrosion x. There are also other brands out there that do equally as well. We like Yamashield and SeaDoo XPS lube too. I don't care for Boeshield much. Its super thick and looks bad when sprayed on metals.

Great video but Fluid Film is going to be the best. It will last all season long and other than the smell, best stuff. Not as pretty as these silicone type sprays and won't spray it on something Im about to sell, but for a boat you are going to use, best stuff and actually watercraft superstore magazine did a very comprehesive test on these type products to back up the statement
@JetBoatPilot8 ай бұрын
We've used a product called Boeshield before and while tough and long lasting it left a film that I did not like. Sounds like this one is similar. Too much downside for me. I'd prefer to re-apply every quarter than have it look milky like the Boeshield looked.
@jerseywild6 күн бұрын
Does the product dry or does it stay sticky?
@JetBoatPilot5 күн бұрын
This one dries over time so reapplication is a good idea. There are others that stay tacky. Boeshield is one of those.

Hey Will, great advise for sure on salt water. Just bought a new 2024 222XE that will only be used in fresh water lake. Dealer says no need to spray film. What are your thoughts?
@JetBoatPilot4 ай бұрын
@jonathanspier6631 can't hurt, but not as critical on fresh water. Perception of future buyer when you sell the boat is better when the engine room looks shiny and cared for so resale value is likely to be higher.

If salt water you'll want a boat lift or boat barn to store the boat. Salt water cannot be purged from the engines if sitting in the water so you can't leave in salt water more than about 3 days.
