I don't care what people say that set up is so much better than being in a aquarium. Yes it is still captivity but these whales could not hunt for food they would starve a horrible death. It is the best alternative for them hope other Belugas get the same chance at a better life in sanctuary.

If you listen to the hole thing you'll know that she said there getting fed they aren't going into the big sea if you Sean the program there's a huge net in the middle of the sea and the sanctuary there getting fed

This has to be the way forward for ALL captive whales, dolphins etc., instead of these dreadful aquariums where they are bribed to perform for us!

I am really glad Shanghai was willing to let their belugas away. I mean Lolita is still stuck in Miami, she NEEDS TO BE FREE. I am so glad that the whales are finally free, they get to hunt, they get to feel current, they are free from the chemical Waters. 10 over years in captivity. They deserve to be free. If only Seaworld was this nice :( I am still so sad Tilikum died a captive whale... Hopefully Lolita will be back with her family again :(

Forever friends, just beautiful to see that they are out of their horrendous cement prison and will soon be totally free..no Animal should be held captive to entertain people.

They are still captive because if they would be totally free they would most likely starve however if they learned to hunt we would release them

This is beautiful. I would pay to go see them in their new place. Any assisted living definitely need their own funding, so if they open the place for people to visit during feeding or playtime that would be awesome! And hopefully an online cam to see how they are doing in their new environment.

If you want you can come to the aquarium and donate to help keep the facility running Also if you want to see them you can come during the winter when they have to be in the warmer inside tank

Hvaldimir should join them. It must suck to live in a busy harbour with boats everywhere and annoying tourists

Perhaps they could introduce them to Hvaldimir, who apparently has learnt to hunt independently.

They seem intellectual enough to learn how to hunt eventually I would like to think. Hopefully their naturally instinct would kick in for them.

That is the end goal we want them to learn to hunt and they would be released into the wild if they learned to hunt and if they wanted to

They aren't exactly free, the space is just this little corner with the line across it 3:07, but it still better than an aquarium.

Still too small in my opinion. They should have pushed the net out much further. However, I’m sure budget only allows for so much space.

GOD is awesome, so are these beautiful creatures & the people involved....so Thank You!! Much ❤ from CALIFORNIA

Im confused. sea life/merlin have other species in captivity . Merlin have sea lions performing for the public and im not too sure what the difference is. Why cant they be released also. no difference to me. I know it might be hard for some animals to go back to the 'wild but these beluga whales say otherwise.
@anthonyx8216
@anthonyx8216 4 жыл бұрын
@@willbradley9660 all is never as it seems. This 'rescue' only took place because Merlin was exposed, their mission statement on their website said that they would never keep dolphins and whales in captivity. After the exposure they pledged to release them to a sea sanctuary. Merlin had these whales doing tricks for 8 years before this whole operation. Very sad but I'm happy they have a better way of life now

most would die in the wild its like dropping you off in the wood's and not coming back to feed you. what would you eat ? would you even know how to breed as you've only been with your sister would you be able to show your young how to live in a world you have no clue about

michellerichardson91Well with two years of knowledge we now know your views are incorrect. As wonderful as it might make you feel to advocate for the release of all Animals in captivity it is foolish. Both little grey& white are back in a tank at the sanctuary. The Wales having been in a controlled environment for a decade don't know how to live free.I applaud the sanctuary for trying to help these beautiful creatures and making the tough but correct decision to bring the Wales back to captivity. The Wales are being cared for and are going to live in what I can best describe as a modified salmon farming tank.most Situations are more nuanced that right or wrong there is a balance needed.Jyst as freeing every animal in captivity isn't in the best interest of every animal .Should humans leave wild Animals in there natural habits? Absolutely.

Obviously this is so much better than before, but I wonder if they miss the large amount of human interaction there was before at the aquarium, as belugas are so very sociable, even in the wild seeking out humans to interact with at harbours etc. hopefully more belugas joining will be good!
