@@J_dnvg The game just felt like it wanted you to hurry up. Also it feels to much like a rehash of the first game. The woods was an incredibly huge potential to explore. we could see what happened to the wildlife in the little nightmares world or maybe see some cool puzzles or traps. However it's just rushed into a hunter kill scene. Part 4 was amazing, might even be godly, but the rest of the game just feels so different. If the rest was like part 4 I'd say the game would be S tier but it's B tier imo. The even added the stupid flashlight mechanic which they knew was bad since it's exactly like the ln1 dlc. They really should've done more with the eyeball entity too, i mean they are at the place where the core of corruption in the ln universe comes from so why not use that instead of just normal bosses. Sorry if my rant is hard to read, to sum it up just look at the ln2 artbook and you'll see how great it could've been.

I never thought Six “took the lady’s place”. I think Six wants to end EVERYTHING. She is last seen on top of the maw, waiting for the next boat, which you can hear the horn of in the distance. Six is leaving the Maw and going to use the power of her hunger to consume every living thing in the world. She is a little nightmare.

I interpreted Six dropping Mono as a consequence of Mono breaking her music box. They *are* children, after all. But I never paid attention to the fact that Six got to see Mono's face right before she dropped him

@@ace_wash8363 I don't think that it's supposed to be taken super literally when Six recognizes Mono as Thin Man without his bag. The series does have a heavy reliance on symbolism and motifs. From the body language, I always interpreted the ending as Six initially wanting to help Mono, but then dropping him after thinking and changing her mind. From the body language, we can tell that Six cared about Mono at first; she pulls him out of the TVs while he's in a trance, plays with him in the schoolyard, and tried to get him to run when Thin Man first appears. But when she drops Mono, she pulls her hand back as if she were disgusted or angry. Perhaps that's her being emotional over Mono breaking her music box but I think there's more to it. People say that Six should have seen Mono’s face when he wore the hats, but that’s incorrect. Those hats don't count. They are optional collectibles that don't really affect the story of the game. "Canonically" Mono was always wearing the bag around Six and has seemingly worn it for most of his life. According to Mono's character description from the official website, he wears the bag to hide his face because "the whole world hates him and wants to see him fail." It's never explained why the world hates him and I doubt Mono has the maturity to understand it himself. Maybe people subconsciously know that Mono is the source of some kind of evil and cast him out or try to kill him accordingly (if that's the case, maybe this is how Six recognizes Mono as Thin Man). Maybe Mono thinks that people think he's ugly. Even when he's hanging around near other children in the comic, he's sleeping under the floorboards, by himself. He doesn't even realize that there's a fire until he hears the other children screaming. And when a monster picks them off one by one, Mono escapes because nobody crowds around him; the crowds make the other kids easy targets. Once again, he is an outcast. The game makes a big deal about Mono throwing away his bag near the finale. He symbolically accepts himself for what he is, despite the world being against him. The game doesn’t even allow you to pick hats at the final chapter. And at the end of the signal tower, this is the first time Six sees him without the bag; her mind is not being warped by her transformation, and Mono is not hidden by any shadows when Six is holding on to him. Interestingly enough, Monster Six doesn’t even recognize Mono without his bag; she only remembers and trusts him after she heard his voice. And if she didn't recognize Mono as Thin Man from his face, maybe she recognizes him through the fact that she's seen Mono use his powers to interact with the TV similar to the Thin Man. Either way, if she realized that Mono was a potential threat similar to Thin Man, it's definitely in character for her to drop him. Especially since she could still be emotional over the music box. She may no longer see him as a friend but as a threat in disguise. She is purely a survivor. And this could push her into never trusting anyone again. It adds many fantastic layers of irony to it. In the end, Mono learned to accept himself for what he was. But Six couldn't accept him for what he could become.

What the most remarkable thing about this series is, to me, the fact they can convey a story without a single word of dialogue or exposition. You understand the events of Little Nightmares 1 and 2. You understand exactly how enemies operate without any instruction from the game. It says so much without saying anything and perfectly balances leaving room for the player to theorise and explore without sacrificing a concrete story. One of the best horror games I have ever played.

The idea that "The Lady" is a position or title and not an individual is an idea that dovetails beautifully with a theory I saw (I believe in the comments on jacksepticeye's LN1 let's play?) that the first Little Nightmares is an extensive metaphor for the cycle of childhood abuse and how frustration, disappointment, rage towards the perpetrators and onlookers can all eat at you when it goes unacknowledged and not dealt with, putting the abused at risk of becoming an abuser in turn. With the added context of this timeline, Six seems to be a child with life planned out for her that she tries so hard to escape that she ends up, like Mono, in a self-fulfilling prophecy. She admired the girl in the yellow raincoat for her altruism and tries to physically emulate her when she can, but cannot bring herself to overcome her relative shyness and prioritizing her own safety; she goes with Mono to, as the girl she ''pretends'' to be like, try and make a friend. Which makes what she would perceive as a betrayal to her that much worse, and solidify in her mind that other children are not to be trusted. Then blending into LN1, with a more tenuous sense of empathy towards others, she becomes hunger to stop and with a detachment from other people it is easier to, like the other Ladies, use them for her own ends. Thus a Lady grows to hate her own reflection, and the reminders of what she has become. Through the games at least, a circular tragedy without intervention. I can't help but wonder why exactly she's named "Six", though, in case it clarifies anything

@renemartinez3451

@Gopher The Gopher I doubt her hunger is directly linked to the Maw. Her hunger first appears at the secret ending of LN2. The only reason that Shadow Six points to the Maw poster is because the Maw was likely advertised as a feast experience. If the comics are still considered canon, it's likely that Six wandered to that other city full of fat people in order to try to track down the Maw. But the Maw never arrives at the same place, according to the website. So in the comic, it looks like Six is wandering aimlessly, but the reality is that she doesn't really know how to get to her intended destination. It's possible the Shadow/ glitch kids are the remains of kids' souls. We see them stick around where they likely died or were taken by the Thin Man. We know this because Shadow/ glitch Six first appeared after Six was taken by Thin Man. However, Six is the only kid we see alive after being separated by her shadow/ glitch/ soul. So when she escapes the tower, she's the only living character we know that is currently separated from her soul/ shadow. Perhaps when her soul was taken, it left an empty void in her body. And the soul knows that the only way to satisfy that new void/ hunger is to consume other sources of life. That's why Six chooses to eat the gnome while she is surrounded by food at the Maw. Again, the comics were discontinued and no one really knows if they should be considered part of the LN canon. But the comics also suggest that Six might have partial amnesia (or is at least repressing some traumatic memories). This might have some interesting implications. Perhaps Six losing her soul also means losing her memories. Perhaps Six doesn't even remember Mono. Perhaps losing her soul also means she lost bits of her original personality or empathy. We may never know with the comics because they were never intended to add major story elements that could interfere with later games. But it seems that the lost soul theory has a lot of weight to explain Six's hunger.

@Gopher The Gopher Yeah. I personally would like to see Six go through stages of regret as she now has all the power she needs but is lonely without Mono. Maybe give her a redemption arc where she figures out a way to break the cycle. Or maybe introduce a new kid character with powers (possibly time powers) that can break Six out of her cycle of betrayal. But knowing this franchise's tone, I doubt we'll get an ending that happy.

If you were looking for an actual answer of some kind; I think the flesh monster living inside of the tower is the combined mass of flesh and eyes of those who watched the TVs.. Their faces are very distorted, as if already being slowly absorbed, and there are many instances throughout the game where only the clothing of people are left behind. I think it's reasonable to say that the signal tower "took" them, and became a monster of itself? (when Mono travels through a TV for the first time, you also see the flesh and eyes for brief moments as you tumble around the new world, before you get shot out of the other TV). as for the tower's existence itself, I have no idea!

Welp, they have revealed it in the podcast series. Sort of. Presumably all kids in Nowhere (the name of the world of LN) are from the real world. Our world. They can enter Nowhere when they're sleeping. Once they enter Nowhere, their body in the real world will be gone. Assuming that every kid has the same experience as Noone (the protagonist of the podcast series), at first they'd go in and out of Nowhere once in a blue moon. But then they'd visit Nowhere every single time they sleep. Until one day the Ferryman/Candleman visited them. He'd politely ask the kid if they want to be a permanent resident of Nowhere.

I've seen this compared to games like Inside and Limbo, and there's definitely some inspiration there, but it's also pretty different. Most of the mystery in those games is about the world, but in this series the characters are just as much as a mystery as everything around them, and it makes it SO easy to get invested in them and their story! I think that's why so many fans want more. We don't know if Six, ord maybe even Mono has more in store for them, and we want to see what else happens.

One of the main themes of this game almost seems like how the world can suck out someone’s individuality and turn them into mindless drones/monsters to be cogs in the metaphorical machine, while children, being young, innocent, and untainted by the harsh realities are the only ones who aren’t monsters. However, as we see with Six and Mono, they slowly become monsters or monstrous as a result of their harsh experiences in an unforgiving world that seeks to take away their innocence and individuality. At least that’s how I interpret things.

I see it as _inevitability_ - a horrific nightmare-esque metaphor for _growing up._ I don't think Little Nightmares or its sequel represent a Time Loop per-say, but I do think they represent _cycles._ It's clear at the end of the first game, with such contempt for the Guests, Six isn't going to stay and become the Lady of the Maw, but she has inherited her powers and thus her mantle. In a sense, after dodging monsters all this time, Six herself has become a monster. And I think that's what we take away from Little Nightmare's 2. Six was a bit colder in that game than how she was in the first one; I mean, she doesn't strike me as the type who would willingly hug any random nome she came across like she did in the first game. I think what we're meant to take away is, Frisk has been living in this messed up world for so long that it's made her bitter and angry, and maybe the slightest bit psychotic. She viciously attacks the bully from behind; now you might say that's understandable as she was kidnapped and strung-up by the things. But then later in the Hospital after we briefly separate from her and have the first encounter with the hand, we come back to find her _breaking the fingers_ of a nearby mannequin arm...And it seems she had no other motive to do that, other than she _wanted_ to be violent. Not to mention that it seemed like her idea to trap the Doctor in a furnace and burn him alive; she even warms her hands from the heat as the man burns to death. Then when the first of the viewers bashes his head into a TV and we climb over it to get to the window, Six stays behind to kick the guy's corpse. My point is, Six seems oddly _violent_ in this game; and I think I understand that in-part, she wants to get back at this world for the state it's now in. Now I know you mentioned that Six tries to pull Mono back every time he uses the TV and even tries to wake him up when the Thin-Man comes for them. But think about it; Six doesn't _know_ that Mono _beat_ the Thin-Man, and I think that between the two of them, she is thinking the Thin-Man was really after _him_ for opening the door. I think her leaving him behind is just her trying to ensure her own survival by ditching him to lookout for herself. As for the Cycles I mentioned; I don't believe that Mono is part of a time-loop where he is _destined_ to become the Thin-Man. I just think he was a _potential_ to take the mantle, just as Six now has the potential to take the place of the Lady. I think that whatever the creature in the Tower is, it is indeed setting things in this world in motion; and beings like The Lady and the Thin-Man are his lieutenants, put in-charge of various areas or functions to facilitate its strange desires. But every now and then, a child will come along with the power defeat his underlings; and Mono was one of those with the potential to turn the Thin-Man's power against him - similar to how Six used a mirror to send the Lady's power back at her. In doing so, the boy was prepped to take the Thin-Man's place, and Six by leaving Mono behind, allowed the creature to do just that. Because let's face it, there's no way Mono would survive and simply grow-up like that, trapped in that room, unless some external supernatural force was keeping him alive.

I really like Six as a character for a few reasons: Her complete and unapologetic desire for violence / revenge upon those who wronged her is relatable and incredibly cathartic when you see what she has been put through. Ruthlessly sucking the life out of the entire ship while waltzing carelessly down the hall and out the front door of the place she tried so hard to escape is an amazing payoff for a game that constantly reminds you that she is the most miniscule and powerless person there. This is - however - also the most uneasy part of her character, too. As a result, she eventually takes it too far. The world has rotted her spirit and mind and conditioned her into the very same kind of person she was fighting against the entire time. She doesn't pick and choose who she enacts her rage upon, and is seen feeding on even those who were less fortunate than she was. What little moral compass she had left was shattered when she saw that the only person who has ever helped her is also - against all feasible odds - the same person that had a hand in creating the awful world that she hates so much. I suppose that when she saw that there was nobody she could trust - nobody who was truly on her side - the option to burn it all down became a lot more appealing.

This always feels like one of the best depictions of lovecraftian horror put into a game. It´s not just "elder gods" and "tentacles". It´s the core of it. It feels like a world that has been drenched in this eldritch influence, and is slowly dying like it´s a cancer slowly eating away at the body.

The art style is what initially drew me into these games, mainly because it reminds me so much of how my own nightmares look. Everything is semi realistic but otherwise warped just a little, buildings and places are much larger and more cluttered than normal, and more often than not the sense of dread I have when having a nightmare is because I am trespassing somewhere, or simply feel as if I'm somewhere I shouldn't be, and if I'm caught it's all over.

Little Big Planet introduced me to Little Nightmares. Someone perfectly recreated the Kitchen level in LBP, and I thought that was a super interesting level, I didn't even know it was based on a game. From that point, I went on a rabbit hole learning more and more about this world but not actually knowing anything about the actual game. So, I finally went and got the game, and it has become one of my favorite games ever made, even despite how short it is, the horror, the world, the music, the gameplay, I adore this franchise

You know I’m not really much of a gamer at all. I’m pretty much fit into the category of “Casual Gamer” maybe even lower than that. There’s not many game series that I’m enthralled in. I just so happened to stumble on a playthrough of the first game of Little Nightmares with one of the Youtbers I’m subscribed to. I was interested in this game due to his mysterious and creepy undertones and most importantly the Mystery of the main character Six. Her actions throughout the game made her different from many protagonists I’ve witnessed in both games and other forms of media. And due to the narrative of the game you never have a clear answer on this character truly is. I ended up buying the first game even through I had seen a bunch of different playthroughs because I wanted to experience it my self and I loved it. When I realized there was second name I watched many analysis videos that really made me more hooked on this story and series as whole. LN2 cemented my love for this series and strangely the character Six. The series has become my favorite video game series tied with Kingdom Hearts and Six has become one of my favorite video game characters ever. Sorry that was so long just wanted to express my love for this series

Personal theory: while it IS possible that The Lady isn’t Six, The Lady being Six makes more thematic sense to me. The Thin Man is Mono and he clearly goes back in time to try and undo the evil that is Ak- I mean Six, which then leaves questions like where is Six, what is she doing, etc. What I think-and this is just my opinion-is that after killing the Lady Six takes her role as ruler of the maw and over time learns how she caused The Pale City to be overrun by the Signal Tower. After this she would likely hate herself for not helping Mono when she had the chance hence for her hatred for mirrors as they are a constant reminder of her sins. As for why she wants to kill Six if she gets sent back in time with the Thin Man is that her self hatred builds up into a suicidal desire to kill herself for what she did. This is a perfect parallel to Mono as he is also trapped in the time loop trying to prevent the future from happening by killing himself as he has been a prisoner to the Signal Tower that he wants to kill himself too, whether it be the Thin Man or Mono and end this cycle of torment.
@thebeetleball

I really don't agree with six being the next lady. In ln2, the ending feels so... crushing, final; mono sits in the chair, defeated, and grows up. However six is shown walking out into the sunlight after killing all of the guests, which feels like a complete tonal opposite from mono's fate. personally, I interpreted the horn as her about to get on a boat to leave, imo ln2 is about the cycle of abuse and ln1 is about breaking it but lingering trauma (i.e six absorbing the lady's power) I do however agree that the lady is a cycle and title passed down + the granny was a past lady, it parallels the thin man/mono though in a much more grounded way; "the Maw is the only place that makes sense"
@tastee8851
@tastee8851 3 жыл бұрын
I think that LN-LN2 is a double time loop, one where mono is continually trying to save his younger self and one where six, after betraying mono and leaving the signal tower and her personality, the good in her is empty as it becomes her glitched remain since she *wasn't supposed to survive the signal tower*. She is sent back in time in the secret ending and tries to satisfy the hunger, tries to fill her emptiness by consuming food. When she is filled, she returns to normal after doing a little bit of killing and is separated from her raincoat and leaves the maw, only to be caught by the hunter. Mono is trying to save himself from Six and Six is trying to save her old self, the one who is gone along with her memories of mono when she finally is full.

I once heard a theory that when Shadow Six and actual Six were separated, it took away Six's more emotional and childish side, which later materialized as Shadow Six. There's not much proof to this theory and there are some holes in it, but the proof includes the fact that in the 2nd game, if you stay idly in some places long enough (especially on the playground) Six is going to attempt playing on her own, lightly kicking the ball etc. During the X-ray puzzle in the hospital, she also voluntarily takes a toy when you do and even shows it off to the X-ray. In the first game, with her and Shadow Six separated, she doesn't do these things. Sure, she can hug nomes, and there are achievements for making her jump on a bed or walk along the piano tiles, which is one of the holes of this theory. However, I think I can at least TRY to argue that these are all things the player decides to do, not Six on her own. Another proof of Six possibly being Six's more childish side is that in the one moment when we see her do more than just stand in one place, aka when she leads Mono to his final fight with the Thin Man, she's also being slightly playful, balancing herself on the train tracks. It's a subtle thing, but I think it's on a similar level to the school playground stuff. My suggestion is, without that childish side of hers, Six could have also lost the attachement she had to Mono, and didn't feel the need/want to help him anymore. After all, in this world it's usually better to be on your own. This could be why she dropped him, which ISN'T me saying that Six is naturally evil. I don't think that the actual Six, without the whole separation thing going on, would drop him. BUT either way I am aware that this might all not make sense, and it's not exactly something I'm hardly set on so. Yeah

The idea about the Pretender becoming a new lady actually also makes sense for another reason. Today pretender means somone who lies about what they are. But the old meaning is actually someone who claims to be a rightful ruler or scusseror, but the current ruler might disagree with that, not connected who is in the right.

I love the vid and i know no one will see this, but i wanna make an addition to why six betrayed mono, while all the reasons make sense and i believe correct you forgot one thing, its shown that six holds grudges and is not very nice, while she develops a relationship with mono (shown how she reaches for him after she pulls him from the tv after freeing the thin man) she brutally attacks one of the bullies, bends a patient hand into a broken form, and warms her hands at the burning doctor. When Mono releases the thin man, tries to save he by breaking her music box, which is clearly her safe space just like when we first found her and she begins to hold a grudge which is cemented when she sees our face... we caused her pain, we trapped her, we ripped her from her safe music box... to her we are the nightmare, so she drops us hoping to never see us again

I have a theory about the patients and why they freeze in the light. The patients are probably traumatized from being tortured and reconfigured into monstrous creations... They’re afraid of the doctor, and they’re afraid of the operation light that he uses. Maybe whenever you shine the light at their faces, they remember the awful experiences they went through, and the only thing they know what to do is to be still, and think that the operation will be over soon. You couldn’t have someone squirming around and shaking about during a surgery, right?

I'm pretty sure that the Thin Man's motivation was revenge and blind rage, not protecting Mono. If he wanted to prevent Mono from being betrayed, he would have killed Six. Instead, he transformed and improsoned her. Or maybe he even WANTED Six to betray Mono, so that the Thin Man could exist. He had to have known that Mono would defeat him and rescue Six, because it must have already happened for the Thin Man to be created.

My personal interpretation of the timeline is: - Very Little Nightmares - Little Nightmares 2 - Little Nightmares/dlc My reason being that RC girl lost her coat when she died. The coat then finds it's way to city where Six then finds it. Also, all throughout the 2nd game, Six never once gets that hunger. It's only after betraying Mono (and possibly absorbing his powers) does she start feeling that hunger. It's also the first time Six encounters Dark Six.

i think all of the glitched remains are obviously caused by the thin man, and mono being the thin man he (possibly) sets them free back to where they are supposed to be. I think that if mono caught up to the shadow six it would've returned it back to her and made her whole again. I also think that if she was separated into two the shadow six is the one with memories, while the "alive" one is basically an empty shell of six.

My favorite thing about these games is music! It's really haunting and foreboding. My favorite would have to be Prison Toys, theres just something so sad, yet hopeful about it; like the children are humming it in a moment of innocence and camaraderie, despite the monsters lurking around every corner, knowing that they are most likely going to die. The mystery about the world's lore is also intriguing, the visuals and style is unique, and the overall concept was nothing I had ever seen before. It's also interesting that there's no dialogue, no instruction, and no backstory given by a narrator, which really hypes up the mystery and surrealism, yet the player understands what needs to be done and how enemies operate. 15/10 game series!

@@maciglota5042 I read it and I see ur point of view…but honestly I think the reason why six dropped him is simply because six didn’t trust him with her life anymore she probably felt that it was too risky to follow him bc he could put her life in potential danger again. Six is all about survival she’s not there to make friends she wants to survive and she will do anything even abandon someone if she feels the need to. All the bad things that were happening to six in the game was because of mono it originated from him, six would constantly try to stop him from going in the tv’s but mono wouldn’t mind her… When six turned into a monster bc of thin man that was probably her last straw even tho mono helped her out.. so six probably felt that travelling with mono was gonna bring nothing but more danger to herself so she dropped him… I think it’s that simple

Ok my best guess about the shadow children- they are the remains of the children’s humanity. It’s a bit of a reach, but I think it makes sense in context. After their human form is taken by the lady, she (somewhat) gives it back through the visions in the furnace causing their old forms to return in their shadows. The shadow children who aren’t bound to a clear host could be some sort of ghost (the Maw would certainly have plenty of those), some of whom are given more active forms by the Lady’s masks. Shadow Six, for her part, is most present when Six isn’t herself (something something her humanity leaving her?).

love your interpretation and opinion about six and her motives!! too many people wrote her off as evil after ln2 even though in my opinion her actions make a lot of sense for an extremely traumatised child trying to survive. she tries to help mono right up until the moment she sees his face properly, and it takes a few seconds for her to decide whether to drop him. i always read it as a decision she found difficult to make. she would've dropped him immediately if she didn't care about him or actively wanted him dead out of malice. another amazing video!!
