@@edsmachine93 One of my first jobs at NS1 Performance Center was to get the boss's 79 LRT going. After I tuned it up it would bark the 275 Eagle ST's going into second, which eventually led to a rebuild of the 9-1/4" rear, but man that was a great and fun truck!

@@edsmachine93 It suer was, it was in Mopar Muscle in the late 90's, it had the heads and block decked a little, so it had good compression, but it had all of the stock parts in it, 340 cam, std bore pistons, etc., but it sure ran good.

@@MostlyOldPartsAndRust Sounds like a good build Pat. Supposedly the '68 340 cam was the best stock cam. I have a new NOS TRW '68 340 cam stashed back. I use to really like TRW engine parts. Top of the line parts. The original Sealed Power/SpeedPro was the same good quality American parts.

So you install the guides with the spiral end first so its up by the seals, right? What is the purpose for the spiral in the first place? Another great video to show us watchers the right way to do it 👍
@edsmachine93Ай бұрын
Hey Joshua, thank you for watching. The purpose of the spiral is to have oil around the stem. The solid portion stops the oil from running through. The spiral meets the solid portion forms a peripheral seal between the valve and guide. And constant lubrication to the stem and guide bore. I will talk about this is a future video. Have a good evening. 👍🇺🇸👍

Those castings look rough. Were they rusty to start with? My 360 J heads have the 2.02"/1.60" valves, and it took many hours of porting to get the bowls (and ports) opened up for the larger valves. Hope Joe was wearing a good mask and face shield when porting those.
@edsmachine93Ай бұрын
Thanks for watching zerogmopars, yes, I am sure he was wearing proper protection. Yes, the heads were very rusty before. You will see them fixed up. The original heads were cracked. Have a 0:02 good evening. 👍

Good morning Jeff, yes this engine had sat in the elements had gotten water in it. The customers original heads off of the Little Red Express were cracked and had to get another set of castings. So here we are machining and repairing these heads. Cast Iron is pretty forgivable sometimes. I have repaired some pretty bad castings in the past. This series should be good. Thanks again for watching. Have a great day. 👍👍☕️
