As a fellow Nigerian and creative, it makes super inspired to see someone like Little Simz succeeding in the music industry. Coming from our culture, you have to have extraordinary belief in yourself and talent because often times our parents won't support us. They want you to go to school and get become a professional, which is completely understandable, but a lot of us have creative potential but are discouraged from exploring it, whether from those external forces or mainly from ourselves. As an example, listen to Simz' 101 FM 👌🏾

I Just wanted to add a comment on Simz - I think it’s easy when an artist like this has started at 9 years old to feel disempowered - ‘I didn’t start at 9 so I’ll never be able to reach where I want’. But that’s an easy myth to fall into, and from my perspective, I'd say Simz's story is an example of doing the real, hard work, and if you do that at any stage, and keep at whatever journey you are on, it doesn’t matter when that process starts. 1 should be find an open creative space, a creative outlet, community. When you have this it’s easier to focus because it’s real and then what begins to happen is you dig into yourself creatively and discover things you’re capable of. You’re influenced in a way you want and may not have known you needed, closer to freedom.
