Great video, but I seem to have a problem with the knot always sliding to the top of the jig so that it would have a tendency to lie flatter as opposed to having the tail sticking up…any suggestions to stop this from happening ?what knot do you use to tie on ?

What size meegs do you use oz
@justingirardfishing42662 жыл бұрын
My go to size is always 1/2oz but the 1/4 is right beside that depending on depth and fish's mood.

Hey great video, I was out on Simcoe today at 86 fow jigging for white fish, didnt have much luck. Tried dead sticking minow, spoon tipped minow etc. this is the first time I seen Meegs, wondering where do you get your hands on these? and the tubs to go with them?
@justingirardfishing42666 жыл бұрын
Pretty much any tackle store around lake simcoe sell them, bait bucket in Barrie, Tromblays in Orillia, True north outfitters in Gilford, Simcoe Outdoors in Keswick, JB's Fishing depot in Etobicoke, i am missing a few but hopefully this helps.

Thanks for the demo, really does help alot. Couldn't mark any fish last trip to try this on. although i did catch my first, whitey only 18 inches, on a perch bait... Do you find the tube colour matters? Do you have a favorite brand?
@justingirardfishing42666 жыл бұрын
cant catch what you cant mark! i like to match the tube to the jig. natural colours are best. Dosent matter which make you get, they are hard to find sometimes!
@martinwales31726 жыл бұрын
Justin Girard Fishing kool thanks for the info. I used all my tubes intended for perch to tip my meegs haha. I know it's different because you have more experience on Simcoe but how long would you stay in one spot if you dont mark and didn't know if it's a good location. I started wayyyyy too deep it seems, moved every 30mins, but you learn something new every trip.

Hey man great video! I’ve fished Simcoe twice this year and it’s been very slow. I can’t wait to try a meegs the next time I go. Just wondering what kind of line are you using, mono or floro, and what test? Also what colour tube is best to attach?
@justingirardfishing42666 жыл бұрын
I use 10 pound braided line with an 8 pound floro leader, I will be switching to 6 pound floro leader soon as the fish get a little line shy. I like dark tubes or natural colours.

Hey Justin, can you attach the link as where I can order the Meegs jigs please?
@justingirardfishing42666 жыл бұрын
you can reach out to James Meger on facebook messenger to order them and he will ship them out to you or there a few stores around Lake Simcoe that sell them. Where are you located?
@mrwhon6 жыл бұрын
Hey Justin, I'm in Wisconsin, USA. I've called around and they don't ship out. I really like to buy those and give it a whirl...

Keep one if you want to keep fishing. What if you harm a fish after your limit is full?
@justingirardfishing42666 жыл бұрын
One of those fish was my brother in laws who was fishing outside the hut. He kept his fish inside my hut so they didnt freeze. I appreciate your concern.

You have 2 with fish on ice and still fishing with fish off bottom?
@JMK19986 жыл бұрын
You are allowed 2 Whities and 2 Lakers, he got his whities, so he can target lakers. Understand one thing, when ice fishing, lakers and whities can be found close to each other in any depth from bottom to near the surface !!
