Martial arts has been a big part of my life. I was trained to use the European Elements of Air, Fire, Water and Earth. This training didn't involve martial arts. We'll call that something different with a direct focus on meditation and breath. I learned Martial Arts first I have done my best at integration. I have always respected the art of Kung Fu but have found few instructors. I love many aspects of this New Age where I can find the instruction I have always wanted on the internet. Thank you, Jake, for teaching in this way.

I knew the mantis kick and I knew the reverse roundhouse, but until I didn't notice the connection. That they were the same kick. Probably because aI did the mantis kick as a praying mantis. And I am eating a large tuna on Italian herbs and cheese from subway.

Had an idea. How about setting up your camera on a tripod just over your laptop. Record on both and use the camera one for the finial youtube copy that way you get the best sound and video.. Your live events are still a bit choppy and the sound is not synced very good with the video.

jake, thats not a mantis beak but a hook. mantids grabs their prey and eat them, then mantids use quick strikes with their hooks to defend themselves against bigger predators. jake, you need to understand mantis kung fu is about grappling, joint locks, arm breaking or dislocating, trips, etc... you never teach these because you never learned it from a real sifu. you should pay a real sifu and actually learn it but it takes about ten - fifteen years to get permission to teach the real deal.

Also trained in muay thai for years trained by and an american champion who fought in front of the king of Thailand. But hey don't feel bad when the bullshit you teach gets someone hurt or killed like ur "black sash student" you fraud.

Learn Qi Xing Tang Lang Quan from Zhong but please don´t believe what he tells in this video! He even didn´t understood that the mantis fist is only a symbol for a grab. Nobody can catch an arm with mantis fist. Its only a symbol to difference a grab technique to other techniques wich would look in the form similar to other techniques if you would do the applycation in the form and not the symbol. But behind this "mantis fist movement", behind this symbol there is a technique to block the arm of the enemy and grab it with the whole hand..... I have been teaching preying mantis for 49 years or so and am a10th generation teacher/ sifu. You are teaching BS once again. Where you pick your tips up from I don’t know but you seem to have a good source. We do practice high kicks mainly because one has to learn how to defend against them, no practice means you will get your head kicked in. In real life however, we would not use a high kick they are far too dangerous, in real life, you can slip while kicking or your leg can be caught. In real fights, there are many innate disadvantages. Using high kicks indiscriminately in a real-life fight is very dangerous and downright stupid. You cannot kick high in a crowded bar or on crowded streets. It is far better to take a knee out or an ankle and be safe than try to be flashy. You are a dangerous man Jake, what you teach would out people in real danger in real life. Streetfighters are mean nasty people and generally, they’re damn good at close-quarter fighting and you will rarely see one kick and you will rarely see one lose a fight, drunken brawlers apart. Yes whirlwind the preying mantis (Southern ) has a line mentioning using the feet / legs like a monkey
