amazing video. Great angle. I'm glad the camera is so controlled. Very interesting snake! They are just one solid muscle! I really like your method and approach. You explain how you're doing it and why. This is very important when teaching, because you explain the consequences of not following the rules. It makes the learning process a lot easier for future snake keepers. You're one of those snake handlers on youtube who actually explain this, and not just show feeding videos with no insight. Thanks! =)

As someone who keeps close to 30 Reticulated Pythons, I always hate when keepers post feeding videos. Because a majority are novice keepers who enjoy showing off and aren’t offering anything educational about it. I really enjoyed this because I learned something. I think I have decent knowledge of Gaboons but I’ve never seen them hold the food in the air. It’s reminiscent of a Bushmaster when they get into their trance when picking up a heat signal. Excellent video.

That is amazing how they eat! I would have predicted that it would have instincts of other venomous snakes that I've learned about. At least it hisses at you to let you know that it's present, alert, and a dangerous. The Gaboon has one of the most eye-catching (or not!) patterns I've seen. I can see why someone with experience would want to keep it, but venomous snakes aren't for me. Thanks for sharing, I learned a bit more about a really awesome viper today.

Fell in love with Gaboon Viper at my first reptile show. A dealer table with babies in little deli dish with lids. (This is 25 years ago at a Hamburg reptile show in PA.) The dealer who was the very (proud breeder) of these babies, (he had about 25 babies), had them reasonably priced I thought at the time. 125 a baby. So I inquired about their care... This Gent looked at me and politely explained that they were very venomous, I would have to take extra caution as I had two small sons (4 years/the other 9 months old) .I was crushed. On that table I saw all the colors of Autumn....and today I got to watch one feed. Don't know what name you pop up with....But your girl their in her Regal Pose while eating, will be known to me as Lovey . She's a WOW.

That was so interesting! They really do eat so differently, and that venom works fast! Most of the other reptile channels I follow don't have venomous snakes, so I didn't even think about how differently their feeding habits would be. I like how it looks like it's smiling while it eats! Thank you for sharing that! Also, how big do gaboon vipers get? I don't know anything about them, but never thought about a venomous snake getting big enough to need rabbits! Have you ever been to the Kentucky Reptile Zoo and seen their venom extraction? I really want to go visit, especially since it's in my home state. I think they also offer training for LEOs, which is really cool! Though that may be for venomous snakes specific to Kentucky, although I guess it could be for any venomous snake since I guess LEOs occasionally have to deal with irresponsible snake owners and their collections.

Well done. Good film very well presented educational and very interesting. I was lucky enough in my time to have caught and kept wild venomous snakes way back in the 60's. Malaysian Spitting Cobras and Wagler's Pit Vipers, mainly. I was a raw amateur snake keeper back then. Self taught and still learning today. I don't keep anything venomous now as it's made cost prohibitive by our local councils here in England. I admit l regret l ever left Malaysia! It's a reptile keepers paradise. Enough about me, liked your demo so much l have subscribed and rung the bell Many thanks, there are too many young show offs keeping venomous snakes these days. Such a treat to watch someone who demonstrates how it should be done.
