The music still makes a path for the devoted! Cheers Josh and Ariel!!

Dude. Thank you. These interviews are so candid and insightful. Just brilliant. Ariel's thoughts on the tangible object, the cd, the vinyl record, cassettes.... whatever. That physical thing, with the images and liner notes. Scouring the record shops, hoping they've got "one more copy" tucked in there somewhere. Ripping the package open in hopes of some crazy image, or a glimpse of the gear, or ANYTHING.... it's crazy how big a sacrifice we make for the convenience of streaming and instant gratification. I've never heard anyone talk about "how badass the thumbnail of 'in the court of the crimson king' looks on itunes. But I'm old. What the hell do i know?

Yeah it's interesting. I'm 32 and started playing a little over 20 years ago. So many albums I bought based on the album cover alone, Court of The Crimson King included. That discovery stayed with me, showed me dissonance before I knew what it was in a musical context. So many inspiring and creative insights in music or art are like that so it is a shame that everything is now pre filtered and people are less likely to stumble upon something interesting on their own and in a novel way

@@justinguitarcia Iron & Wine, Sun Kil Moon, and Widespread Panic are three bands that I discovered PURELY by digging through cd racks, judging “the book by its cover” and thanking God everyday since! And that record store is fucking closed now.

@@Dan-tp3py it's a bummer dude. I am grateful to have experienced it though and also playing shows in highschool etc, I feel for the next generation and what the future may hold for it all.

As a pedant who enjoys reading academic works, I think there should be a full ‘bibliography’ of equipment that was used on records, even signal chain diagrams if that is relevant to the sound. Each record forwards the discourse of music and creates a body of possible musical trajectories just as much as any technical journal for an esoteric branch of scientific research opens avenues of new knowledge.

May be wrong but I think the subtle rotary Ariel was describing for SRV is a dimension D rack unit. That's been a secret weapon on a few records. Doesn't really sound like you'd imagine a chorus would sound, rather does something to the phase that creates a special widening effect

Big fan of all the Collings jams in namms. I’m falling for the ways each players bring in my playing.” Made up mind” reach me the thing josh said: - mean what you play and play what u mean. Hope this years shine on your side. You can’t even imagine how many time I loop a shuffle thing. Watching here from Montreal Quebec Canada

I think the comments about SRV and Texas Flood are spot on. I always thought his reverb was more likely on 5 or so than say 3. To me its apparent on Austin City Limits early show blue kimono....around 5:30 it's pretty apparent in that glissando he's got quite a dose of reverb dialed in. El Mocambo as well, there is that part when he slows everything down and does like a thumb click of the low E ....you can really hear where he is at with reverb. The Leslie effect could in fact be true but I bet it is in fact the Dimension that has come to light the last couple years. That pedal or rack mount which is what he would have used or added has its own mojo...could go either chorus or leslie....imo.... The voice vibrato can be heard on Austin City as well with either good headphones or system. He really was something special as are you guys. Keep it up and be safe 🤘👍

Josh you may like to go on stage at 11pm and finish at 2am, but this is a killer for gig goers who have to be up for work at 6am. Much better in Europe, where the gigs normally finish by 11pm.
