LOVE YOU RANDY , THANKS to his wife hard work , All radio media should be hooked to to a source which have to pay 10 cents per songs to the artist , and all streams with a 1.00 per month per song plugged to the main artists pool source , for example .

It sounded like the music industry is getting paid BUT the MUSIC industry is not paying the performer, Why not leave local radio alone and let the performer go on strike against the music industry that is holding back funds? I think Prince and a few others did that.

This is the biggest problem in our country?! You all see how the rich and famous are the only people the country is working for. Not the homeless, not drugs, not violence, and not the issue with the top % making 280% more money than they did in the 80's, while thier employees make 35% less by average. It's hearings like this that show the population how much the government dosen't work for the American people.

Congress have no place in limiting the rights of the public to free speech, to include listening to the radio or any other form of music period. Congress and the government have no right to taxation of free speech and or songs on the open airways or any other media period. And in the form of copyright and royalties go; it should be understood that listening to music can also be a form of advertising in that people may want that full album. But if recording artist release the full album to social media platforms; it should be expected it will be for public consumption. Paid or un-paid. If industry and standards are going to change it must first start with the producers who, have control and record for distribution that music or audio. Compensation to the music artist should be upfront and the terms of use agreed upon up front. Meaning, this music will be distributed on social media or it will only be used CD or other hard media, etc.... and term limits- how long. So on and so on... Once the artist agree than the production should honor that. Social media platforms should do what it can to protect the rights of the individuals, but in the end the right of the people who will listen must come first. If that is too hard than they need to go back to the cassette tape again.

8:10 there’s also no reason that someone should be deprived great music just because they can’t afford to listen to it or buy the album. Times are changing, change with it. Give out the music for free, and make your money off of concerts, merchandise, podcast appearances, etc

That's because of their royalties have been jeopardized by bootlegged you can buy ten CD for A price of fifteen dollar's which is A crime against the studio's and the record labels.

What is happening to the ability of the musician and workers for that matter to shop and consult our own wares, and set our own price. platforms could be established to distribute and trade end products online and radio for that matter. Radio could source music from the same outlets. But they should not set the price of the creators products and services. They should charge for the space and ability to trade. Even cable could allow for free commerce. With the model of influencing, except truly independent, individuals should be able to create and deliver at their own rate. A market rate will be established from that. Musicians, visual arts producers, developers, anyone should be able to produce, sell, perform, deliver music, visual arts any product setting their value. Why can't the commerce of sound, visual, development and other products and services be owned and sold by the creators at their own price, for their own profit. Why does our labor and everything we create end up getting peddled, in a corporate vacuum and the profits put directly into the hands of large corporations. We provide the work, artists their media, why aren't we setting the value and reaping the full benefit. And the woman at the end is right. Why is publishing seen as some sort of industry exceptional professionals who need to get paid, and the "artist" some sort of feeble and incidental passerby. A plumber, a street vendor sets their price, at least up to now. Why are "artists" and techies a dime a dozen? and Radio stations should be purchasing access directly from the makers as well. There is no reason a corporation and a slew of servicers should split up the greater profits from a product made by one person a band, or a team, be that music, visual arts, uber or the Indian tech recruiting monopoly.
