Brings back memories for me this, one of my first club matches was on Newark Dyke I was 13 and won the juniors and came 3rd overall with about 4lb of perch and gudgeon and loads of tiny roach on the whip.

Great video used to fish the Trent in The late 70s so it was like going back there a fantastic river if you but the effort in you can gets something out ,please do some more on the Trent thank you

More of these please Matrix Fishing especially river and natural venues. Lee is a class act and one thing that struck me was his casting accuracy. On the button every time and made it look easy when most of us mere mortals know its not.

Hi Lee great venue you can't beat river fishing best ever. I hear you say that your having to keep the rod high because of the weeds . Why is it that nobody rakes the swims no more ?. I always rake my swims if they look weedy. I know it's a pain in the ass but it save you loosing fish . Considering how much junk anglers take with them on a fishing trip what they might need but never do this extra piece of tool should be a must .

Why would you not introduce pellet on the feeder line? It would massively increase your chances of a barbel or bream.

Groundbait feeder with casters and hemp with a few pellets , double caster on a size 12 , works well on the Trent

@@Fishing-ug6ud who said anything about sitting it out on pellet? Simply adding some 3mm halibut pellets to the worm feeder increases the chances of a bonus fish. As it happens, I fish that venue regularly and know from experience that you can catch bream, barbel and chub throughout the day with a blockend feeder filled with hemp and 3mm pellet with a meter long hook length and a hair rigged 6mm pellet, even when it's low, clear and sunny.

@@daniellaw8999 by putting pellets in you would massively reduce your chances of catching any roach, perch, dace etc if the barbel and chub didn’t feed. By using chopped worm you give yourself a chance of catching those weight builders and can still catch barbel, bream and chub on them. It’s about giving yourself the best chance of building a weight without blowing your peg. Lee could have perhaps put a throwaway pellet line down his peg somewhere, but ultimately it could have caused him to spend too much time on it and thus taking away catching time from those weight builders.

@@scoob_dj really? Because I'm catching 12oz+ roach on hair rigged 6mm pellet. I'm not suggesting doing away with the worm, just add small pellets to the worm. If the barbel don't turn up, no harm done. There are so many pellets going into the Trent that just about everything sees them as natural food now. Anyone fishing the Trent and not feeding a pellet line is putting themselves at a disadvantage imo.

A gallon of reds, 13 or 14' float rod with a 4 or 6 No. 4 wire stemmed stick float and you'd have done much better Lee.
