Those statistics are the result of law enforcement targeting black people more than other racial groups and the criminal justice system being quicker to prosecute and convict blacks. People love to refer to these statistics to express their racism and hate but are uninterested in taking a deeper look and understanding why things are the way they are.

Those stores are so dumb for not wanting them prosecuted.... They got away with this, they'll just do it again. and again
@znovosad5555 жыл бұрын
I work for one of the worlds largest retailers and at my store we never prosecute which I highly disagree with. We're talking hundreds of dollars worth of wire, thousands of dollars in power tools and various other expensive tools. Usually the same people that come in too. I'm told to offer them a credit card to save money on their "purchase"
@jeffjohnson31915 жыл бұрын
I worked for a large auto parts chain same thing every day we would catch people stealing call police they come make report they tell us to prosecute we call corporate loss prevention they say have them tresspassed dont let them back in .Time passes they come back tell them to leave they call corporate because we tell them to leave we get in trouble for turning away customers they come back laughing at us steal again call police they don't do anything because corporate won't prosecute. It's makes no sense.
@brianhaflin97995 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, pressing charges can cause issues or money for the business also. If it goes to trial, the store owner/manager could be forced to appear in court or need to deal with the lengthy process. This is why businesses are a bit against prosecuting shoplifters unless the theft was big/costly.
@znovosad5555 жыл бұрын
@@brianhaflin9799 doesnt matter the cost for us. Could be $2k and they wouldnt prosecute. Thats part of a managers job to deal with and if it means going to court that's what it means. Trust me you're losing a lot more in shrink than you would lose by catching them and prosecuting
@cjsteg36235 жыл бұрын
Zach Novosad the problem is that people aren’t going to stop stealing. So the only thing you can do is stop people when they do it and tell them to not come back in the store again. People have been stealing for ages and theyre not gonna stop because someone got charged, a way to prevent it would be to hire more employees but that would definitely cost more than people stealing. It sucks but stealing is part of business and always has been
