​@@SimplyCoachThe hospital acted reprehensibly, take away half of the documentation and they are still there. The hospital's defense team was unprofessional, unethical, and reprehensible. Sometimes things are simple-the Immediate Jeopardy declaration was spot on. They harmed children and their families. And they didn't correct the issues in a timely manner. I would not take my children to that hospital, I would not take my child clients to that hospital, and I don't want the community to have to go their either. This staff(still) has no business working with children. From cardiac to mental health they fail children. I'm not giving them a third chance and I do not care if they shut the whole place down. They had more chances than they deserved. They had Billons after COVID. Perhaps they were the ones shorting staff.

I have a 10 yr old daughter and I had to take breaks watching the documentary because what Beata went through was absolutely heartwrenching and horrific. I couldn’t imagine the agony of not being able to see my sick daughter - it’s every mother’s worst nightmare. Beata gave her life for her child - she’s a hero.

I can imagine tournament tonight to that Kyle’s 14 and he’s been through more. We are home runs a lot of other people as a kid there is drama where is the candy? You never know what’s gonna happen, but Kyle he was there with John Josh you know Jack found her hanging in there why don’t know if he’s right there there, but he was still there where I’m crying background this case breaks my heart like hey I just wasn’t yours when the verdict was read in these beautiful kids holding each other for formally holding each other and I know the judge said no emotions but I’m older these kids were going to have emotions and I’m glad he didn’t like we all. Hey, I said no emotions so I’m just really relieved and happy for my Angel that maybe she can have some peace did injustice for her mother and no they can file criminal charges, and there such a thing for a murder when someone kills their selves because you bullied to death you can’t cause yourself or low you can’t cause someone else to commit suicide. You can’t do that it’s against the law covering someone on this woman who literally gave her life for her daughter I mean that is a beautiful thing I know what I’m saying is all parents usually say oh I give my life for my child. She actually gave her life for her daughter, and not in a metaphor.

Yes of course. It wasn't just her mother. I was not recognised when our mother died as a result of medical kidnap years ago in oz. My sister stitched it up that way. She initiated the court and spoke to lawyers. Its as if I didn't exist or that she wasn't my mother too.

John Hopkins had to know they were going to cop at least some liability, after billing the insurance company for the very disease they claimed Maya didn't have. Not to mention withholding Maya's actual doctor's advice from the judge. Thank God for Beata and her intelligence and intuition. I truly think they *intentionally* used those codes *knowing* insurance would not *question or deny* anything claimed in regards to a CRPS coded-claim, as it was already in her records, dated how far back, by how many doctors, documented accordingly *by all of them,* for the purposes of keeping claims accurate… Had they *changed* the codes, because of their (JHACH) *suspicions,* I think Jack *and* Beata would have caught on far sooner (an interview with atty Andersons wife was done the other day on another channel, and a fellow legal rep for their law firm was whom discovered the billing code discrepancies), once receiving the *insurance* issued invoices and/or *denials of claim* due to whatever reasons, and something legal could have taken place, possibly, from a different angle, at that point in time. But the discrepancies were not discovered until post release from hospital and were not ever denied by insurance as those *same codes* were always *in Mayas records,* prior to interacting with JHACH. Point: they knew what they were doing and can deny it 5 ways to Sunday…. They are the only ones who would believe their own 🐮💩!

Did anyone else notice the “qualifications” of the JHACH CFO, Sherron Rogers? She has an undergrad degree in psychology and a Master’s degree in information science. Information science is the “new” title for library degrees. She has the very same qualifications that I have, and I am a school librarian (very proudly). I would NEVER seek to be the CFO of a non-profit children’s hospital!!! How is she qualified to be a CFO? That’s just WILD to me!

Yes so incredibly odd! Like how on earth did she get there? My dad was a CFO before retiring so I know what that’s supposed to look like, sound like, have the experience of, etc. It left me not very surprised when she couldn’t name a single one of their investments and couldn’t explain the different lines of their tax return. She’s not a CPA, an MBA, no degree in finance or masters in Healthcare Administration… she just seemed either completely lying or completely incompetent. Won’t be surprised if the board replaces her after her apparent incompetence was made very obvious on the internet for hundreds of thousands to see.

Yes, watching Kyle - and as a (former) catholic seeing Maya grasping her mother’s rosary as the verdict was read, just broke me. I cried big fat ugly baby tears. So much suffering, so much pain, and because two utterly vile creatures - Creepy Cathi Beady Eyes who likes to take pictures of nearly nekked young girls as she did to Maya (oh and kissing her as well and telling her she was going to adopt her wtaf 🤮) AND the repulsive, angry, rage-fueled, heartless, “child abuse specialist” arrogant beyond belief nightmare of a doctor (Smith) who has since “retired” (I bet - she deserves to have her career ended and I hope a serious investigation is done of her extremely sketchy history) - both of them set hideous examples of women in medical work and they showed that they decided Maya and her father and mother were lying before they even entered her room (imho). Any patient who has struggled to be believed is feeling the triumph today. From being told “you can’t be in labor” to “there’s no way you could have an IC flare during pregnancy” I’ve experienced the hopelessness that comes with not being believed by medical professionals (not to the extreme of Maya’s case, ofc). It can mean not getting treatment in time or only getting treatment after years of suffering. I hope this sets precedents!

My niece went to the hospital at 9 pm and they sent her home at 1 am, saying it was Braxton hicks contractions, despite her dilating. She went home to continue contractions and almost had her baby on her front porch! Left for hospital at 5:10 am and he was born at 5:43 am. At least every other nurse on staff glared down the dum dum who sent her home. That said, if I ever could have had a second baby, I would NEVER go to a doctor who induces. That's my advice to new moms. Get a doctor who will let your baby come on your baby's terms, not their golf schedule.

@@mombear5116yep!! I would add that most women would be better off to birth at home. Not only do homebirth midwives treat women 1000x better than most doctors but it’s cheaper and better care for mom and baby. I only paid 3500$ for my homebirth which included prenatal care, the birth and 6 weeks of post partum care. The midwives come to your house for the birth and first two post partum visits so you can actually follow orders to not leave the house the first few weeks!

It was unbelievable.. I worked in the medical field...42 year career.. I might be an older person today..but....I can not remember even 1 time a Risk Management Team member came to any unit I worked on and asked opinions or looked at procedures...However, I do recall several times that A co-worker would report a wrong or a problem and each and every time the retaliation occurred. It always clued us in shut-up if you a need a job and a paycheck. Sad, so true and Totally happy for this justice today🎉❤

To every Parent who, like I, have had Hospital staff threaten and bully you because you wanted to get a second opinion at a different Hospital, or asked too many questions, or didn't IMMEDIATELY agree to a course of treatment for your child... let's pray this will deter doctors from doing it again to us or any other innocent Parent. The system is needed, for sure, but for these people to have put this girl through this, it is atrocious and unforgivable.

There is a reason people who work in Medical field stay with their family members stay with patient every moment. My mother had brain aneurysm with 2% survival. Stayed with her 1 1/2 months. Got in huge fight with cardiologist and when i fired him he had hospital administration HR tried and remove me. Called my attorney and they backed off. Maya has an extremely painful disease and not only did the hospital not treat it, they told her she didn't have it, and made it much worse by not treating her. They told her she was lying and did things to her to cause more pain.Maya was deteriorating so much in the hospital that her mom probably committed suicide to save her. And what's worse is that people from that hospital were talking about how her mom's crazy and disrespecting her after she died.

They got away with it and they continue to grow as a monstrosity and have committed so much medical neglect/malpractice. This case was not on my radar until I heard the verdict and punitive award for damages. I watched the Netflix documentary to catch up on the specifics of the case and then came to Peter's channel to get the legal analysis. What a tragedy this family suffered, but the jury restored my faith in justice and humanity. I believe that Beata's suicide was the ultimate sacrifice of a mother to save her daughter. The hospital had clearly signaled to Beata that they were keeping Maya hospitalized to "protect" her from her mother. Beata's death put the gears in motion for Maya to be released to the loving care of her father. I was amazed at the number of parents and children who appeared in the documentary who had suffered similar circumstances including false imprisonment. Suspicions of child abuse should always be taken seriously, but the cases should be investigated responsibly and in the best interest of the "victims" and to make every effort to do no further harm. My prayers are with the Kowalski family as they continue to heal, grieve for Beata and to Maya as she deals with chronic pain and health issues. She is such a beautiful soul and deserves to live a pain-free and productive life.

I am so glad with this verdict. I remember when this was all going on. I was actually at the hospital with my own child, a baby in the NICU. I had to fight the hospital to bring her home. Nurses helped me because they could see what the doctors and staff were doing. Even after many of her specialist where their. I was so scared we could find ourselves in the same situation. Now parents can fight back. This win is huge.

Really? That's why social workers on the front lines do that job for not great pay, often put in dangerous situations, because they don't care about kids? Give me a break. Nobody ever talks about social workers getting injured, assaulted, or worse.. unalived on the job. Or making recommendations to have a child removed from a home, only to be shot down by a judge. Then the child is beaten to death and CPS is blamed. The majority of people posting would never take on the job of a social worker. Dealing with abused and neglected kids, a bureaucracy, the court system while trying to keep kids safe is a daunting task. Your heart will be shattered a thousand times before lunch on some days. But you keep doing it. So please, don't accuse them of not caring.

Educated DOCTORS did this to a CHILD. that should be a CRIME. I’m a nurse, that comes in after the bomb of a high level tag. When a hard headed nurse with their loyalty to the establishment instead of the patient this is what the fallout looks like. I have literally said “when you sign that note, think about what side of the courtroom you will be on, the gallery or the witness stand. Your note could be read in a million ways, by 100 people. Think critically, and calmly.

I was SO HAPPY to hear this verdict! As a mother with 2 special needs kids who I tried for YEARS to get help for (and also being a nurse), this is so needed for this family. As I watched the trial, it was apparent to me that Beata Kowalski committed suicide ONLY because she desperately wanted Maya to be able to return home to her family who would take care of her and that wouldn't happen as long as she was around and potentially able to see Maya. She would (and DID) literally anything she could to make sure Maya was not put into foster care or have to endure more suffering. This was Justice as our system was designed to work. I grieve for this family.

I agree Peter. The minute 'yes' came out the first time, the relief was immediate and palpable for us to see. You could tell 100% that poor family barely heard the amounts...they heard 'yes' on every count and that's what mattered to them. Rightly so. The only question I had was Bedy offering Maya comfort and putting her on her lap. I missed the context in this story and I would say that without it, I struggle to think of that as battery. It's human nature to try and comfort a child BUT if Maya resisted and it went ahead anyway then yes, of course. I just don't know that part in its entirety. (Sorry, I just got to the part where you explained that part, thank you!). They got justice and they got heard. Amazing! I keep thinking of Kyle crying at the end of the Netflix documentary that it will never be over...I hope they all find some sort of peace now that it's over and they were believed.

I watched every single grueling minute of this trial for 8 weeks straight. That jury gave Maya & her family such a gift today. They are finally heard, seen, and validated!! The testimony & evidence was absolutely mind boggling- the things that hospital/CPS put them through is heartbreaking. Unfortunately, things like this happen a lot more than we think- CPS getting involved from a doctors visit or ERA visit. People actually get their kids taken away for those things- innocent families are put through the wringer. I hope this sends a big message to hospitals/doctors.

I wasn't super familiar either. I found some recaps online. In a nutshell Maya has a rare syndrome that has her body sending out pain signals called CRPS? Maybe I have the acyrom wrong. So a doctor prescribed her Ketamine and she even went to Mexico and got alot of Ketamine while in a coma over 5 days and afterwards she was doing much better and the pain was gone. The theory is that the Ketamine was to reset her pain receptors. Well when she relapsed in regards to the pain her parents took her John Hopkins All Children's Hospital and her mom was pushing Ketamine because that's what the doctor she had been seeing explained to her mom is what Maya needed. Her mom being a nurse took extensive notes and was being pushy because her daughter was in pain. The hospital called CPS on the parents and kept Maya hostage at the hospital for 92 days. Maya was not getting the treatment she needed because she was getting worse during that period of time. The hospital failed to do the research on her syndrome and failed to talk to the doctor that was prescribing her ketamine and ask why he was doing it. John Hopkins billed the insurance company for the syndrome repeatedly but on the side was telling CPS that they didn't believe she actually had that syndrome and that it was munchhausen or munchausen by proxy even though another doctor eventually confirmed that she really did have this rare pain syndrome. The hospital even went as far as banning her from being able to get Ketamine as any sort of treatment. 5 days after her mom unalived herself Maya was finally released back into custody of her father. It goes much farther and deeper than that but that is the nutshell version. I might have to watch the whole trial.
