[LIVE] Shiny Gen 1 Tauros after 4,954 in-game trades from Japanese Blue (+ Pokemon Stadium 2)

Another Gen 1 hunt and a chance to showcase it in Stadium 2. I'm really happy with this hunt and I think this is a fine way to demonstrate Generation 1 Shiny Hunting in its most obscure way. I started to collect Japanese versions with their boxes last year and when playing through them, I discovered that there were a number of different trades to Gen 1 in the Japanese versions, specifically Blue. Once I realised this Tauros was available, I had to hunt it. In-game trade hunting is unique to Gen 1 and more recently, Let's Go and Sword and Shield.
We didn't get this Blue version in the West. This is the definitive version of Red and Green which fixed a large number of bugs/glitches and issues that Red and Green had. It's essentially a third version with Yellow coming later to follow the anime.

NICE GOING MAN!!! Quick question hopefully you can answer, but when you were shiny hunting the roamers in hg/ss, did you check all 3 before resetting? I'm currently training up my Feraligatr/Typhlosion to 1 shot them, but I saw in your vids that you would reset on the first encounter/faint the first and reset on the 2nd encounter. Please let me know! I am trying to optimise my hunt!

Woah thats a sick find, such a unique shiny to hunt. Kudos to you! Side comment: I find it funny how the shiny color schemes vary between Stadium 2 and the Gamecube games, let alone mainline Pokémon titles, despite the fact that their 3D models are almost exactly the same. (Gamecube shiny Tauros is more golden with a tan gold mane, not nearly as green as mainline Tauros)

Omg congrats on such an amazing shiny :o if you don't mind a little tip i once got from BlueBisharp28, if you reset in these games, you'll always be facing down when you load the game up, right? if you want to face left or right (or up i guess too), just get into position as if you were doing the trainer-fly-glitch, except instead of flying, just save, then if you load the game up again, you'll be facing the way you were walking ^^ saves you having to look another way every reset ;)

Congrats on tauros! I thought about doing kanga or gengar in gen 1, but I would rather focus on gen 3 right now. Also your n64 looks good. Is it RGB modded and upscaled?

Thanks and yeah I'd like to do one of those someday too. It's the Super 64 via Eon but I don't recommend it much. You can do better and it's expensive. The only reason I got it was because I love the GCHD MK II so I just thought it'd be a simple N64 plug and play which it is but it taps into the S-Video, not RGB so it's not as good as you can get. Aside from the UltraHDMI (expensive, difficult to source), I'd recommend the RGB mod and the RetroTink if you're serious about quality N64 image. It's cheaper, you get RGB & the RetroTink can be used on other consoles. I might change it up later this year but for now I'm content with this thing despite the price.

Trading between English and Japanese gen 1 and 2 games causes corruption in both games, so while possible, it is not recommended.

That's correct. Both language games lack the other language. It'll simply state "Can't trade now" I believe. English can trade with German, Spanish, Italian and Spanish copies as it's the same alphabet. You can apparently glitch to force a trade but it causes instability like Sunny Mawile said.
