Welcome to the e-Reader shiny club! They all have 0IVs, fixed natures, and fixed genders for a similar reason to the gen3 roamed glitch. The place where their PID is stored in memory is partially over written, and this place is different from where the regular 48 shadows are stored.

Ah, that makes sense, I did suspect that but on the face of it the natures are quite beneficial (in 3rd Gen at least) so I leaned more towards them being fixed to help breeding/competitive but I guess not. @@laythalsibai9848 I used that mystery gift thingy to hunt the shaymin, darkrai, and unofficial arceus event in platinum. Ironically, while Darkrai and Arceus easily took half a year of steady hunting apiece, I got shaymin in one sitting of 120 re's.

Man, this brings me back. I remember playing Colosseum when I was younger and reading Serebii's forums about ways to get Shadow Togepi, Mareep, and Scizor but everyone used to dismiss it as speculation. That was only until someone posted a video of these cards. It blew our minds and this is a blast from the past. I read the description and it says that if you use an Action Replay, you can get these on an English copy. That would save me getting a Japanese copy just for these lol Is it safe to use an Action Replay on Gamecube/Wii? Can I ask btw, why don't you stream? You did months ago but you haven't been live since. I was there twice before you stopped. I hope you don't mind me asking but I'd love to watch you live. Congrats on the shiny btw!!!

I'm pretty sure that's how I discovered these too actually, lol. I remember reading on additional Shadow Pokemon you could catch but everyone kept dismissing it. I think these e-Reader cards came a little later and they were sort of obscure for a while. I kinda miss those days of intense speculation about Pokemon games. It feels like we know everything before the game is released now. I miss the days of Game FAQs in a weird way. About streaming, the truth is I simply don't enjoy it. I'm quite a private person and I don't like attention on me very much so I found it stressful to stream. I also seem to get a large number of trolls in my chats when I'm live, from inside the shiny hunting community and outside. I work a rather stressful job so I just don't have time or the patience to handle people like that. I enjoy interacting with an audience but I just don't have the mental will to deal with trolls. It's just boring. I just like to hunt in my free time & watch things peacefully. I enjoy making KZbin content more I guess. I get random urges and I'm not ruling it out again but underlined I just don't enjoy it very much. I'm sorry about that but I see myself hunting and editing these videos for a good while yet so I hope that's of at least some consolation. Thanks for watching.

Omg, so nice to see more people that collect these rare things! :D I have no e-reader cards myself, but I do have cloned versions of a lot of rare pokemon. So especially in gen 3, I have all event pokemon, a lot of Japanese event pokemon and yes, the e-reader mons as well. Just with the Id's of the og trainer. congratz on the shiny! it looks amazing and motivates me to keep pushing on my hunts. by the way, how much time does it take in slow hunts such as these? i've been single-hunting a chimchar in platinum and it took me two and a half weeks to reach odds. what do you do in order to keep up and not giving up?

If you give up, you won't find it. Try and keep your mind on other things like shows, Netflix, streams etc. Shiny hunting isn't really any more complicated than continuing until you get it. It could take 6 hours, it could take 600 hours. It's pointless telling me you an arbitrary number because you could just get it on the next reset. Good luck!

Man this hunt was wild! If I recall correctly, there's a glitch in this game that a shiny shadow pokemon cam appear, and that when captured it returns to normal. I hope you don't come across that with your Mareep or Scizor hunt when you do them!

Damn, I didn't realize Togepi was so rare in gen 3 to hunt. It was my first shiny ever, in FireRed I had my Pidgeot at the front of party for the friendship requirement at five island, when it hatched I didn't realize it was shiny at first until I tried getting togetic from it. Freaked out about that since I didn't even think it was possible to get a shiny from an egg gift (I played through Sapphire first as my first Pokemon game so I got Wynaut, non shiny ofc, and figured it wasn't possible). One of the very few shinies I've ever gotten, my second being Quagsire in Pearl Great Marsh which was nerve wracking since they can run away lol.

Wow this is incredible! I loooove Colosseum shinys, also I have a question. I’m actually thinking about doing a shiny stantler hunt in colosseum. Now you first find it in the under when chasing Venus. I already did that and “failed” to catch it. I know I can find it at snagem hideout during the post game. My question is can I still get that stantler to be shiny, or has it already been registered as the result from the first time I fought against it in the under. Like how the roomers in the other games are registered as shinys from when it becomes available in the wild.

Actually never mind, I think I found my answer. Unfortunately, I do believe in the rematch with the shadow Pokémon, it would have already been registered from the first battle so unless it was shiny the first time, it won’t be shiny again. But that’s ok cause now I’m hunting smeargle in the snagem hideout and since I have it saved before I encountered it yet, I can keep soft resetting at that moment and keep trying. Am I correct?

Yo, congrats! I've been hunting for various targets in Colo for the past 3 years (on and off) and I'm still having no luck. It's great to see more and more success in this fantastic game. On a side note, I have a quick question. Would you happen to know if the Mt.Battle Ho-oh can be shiny? I know that it has a set TID, but I can't seem to find a definitive answer.

Sadly it cannot be. The PID rerolls when a shiny is generated, much like how Gen V prevents a shiny being generated. I believe Kaphotics (creator of Pkhex) researched it but the forums on ProjectPokemon were lost with the research. Try an archive search or a Gamecube RNG reporter search if you want to check for yourself. Same goes for Celebi too, the bonus one.

I have everything needed to hunt these (minus the e cards but I followed a guide to print the dot codes). I’ve tried multiple times but can’t seem to get the e reader to register.
