[LIVE] Shiny Lugia after 15,705 SRs in Silver Virtual Console

My very first Gen 2 game was Silver and as soon as I heard that the 3DS family was to be receiving Gen 2 Virtual Console releases, I knew I had to hunt this thing. I'm so, so glad this shined as it's not only one of my favourite legendaries but it's also the mascot of the game I played the most as a child. I will always hold a special place in my heart for Lugia, always.

This shiny is so amazing, especially in Silver... I think the most painful pokémon related memory was this particular hunt. I've hunted for shiny Lugia on Silver VC for about a year. And finally, at a Saturday night, the shiny appeared. I was amazed. But, then I found out the hard way how thorough preparations have to be in second gen: when I wanted to throw the Master Ball I got the message that my PC Box was full. That still hurts... I've tried to get it again in Silver or Gold, but it never appeared. Then I reclaimed it in Ultra Moon, and that was satisfying.

I've been hunting Chikorita since the release of the virtual console GS and even though im only just over half odds, my mental health has almost completely deteriorated due to the super slow text speeds, hopefully it wont take as long as that lugia. congrats btw, awesome shiny.

Damn your so lucky you got to play Pokemon (Silver) as a kid, I didn't get back into Pokemon until the age of 17 so I kinda missed out on alot ;-; Good thing though is he Shined for me about 4 days ago in original Crystal in under 5'000 SR's. Not on Virtual Console, the first actual Crystal Version. I also was able to record and upload to my youtube account the video of when I encountered him and then caught him.

I've been doing a Shiny Lugia hunt in the VC for around 7 days now. I'm an animator, so I've just been resetting while I work. How many days did it take for you to get this?

Unfortunately the VC came at a bad time for me. I just restarted the university year but my hours in work went from 36 to 20 so that's good. In total it took about 10 days I believe. A fairly short time as far as full odds shiny hunting goes but I was going at it like crazy whenever I hunted. At one point I did about 2.5k in a single day believe it or not. Best of luck, keep focused, remember it's all random, you got this.

Won't give up my hunt now I see your ambition! Just hit over 11K SR's for Lugia a few hours ago with no luck so far and stopped keeping track. My cyndaquil took less than 2K. Totodile on crystal still going at around 4k. These old game hunts are the real shit! I feel many of the same ways about gen 2 and can play it all day every day!

Nice video! I shiny hunted Lugia about a year ago (April, May and June). I guess it took me about 6000-7000 SRs, so it wasn't that bad. Also hunted for shiny Ho-Oh fall 2017, and it probably took me about the same amount of SRs (which was my first hunt with full 1/8192 odds). What amazed me the most was that both shiny Lugia and Ho-Oh had an Attack DV of 15! And since the Attack DV was an odd number, the HP DV was 8. Those are the best stats a shiny can have in Gen 2 (8/15/10/10/10), so I felt very lucky then. Just to mention it, the Shiny Gyarados at the Lake of Rage always has the stats (0/14/10/10/10). As the Attack DV is an even number, the HP DV will always be 0. Its high Attack DV is also the reason it is always male (0-6 is female, and 7-15 is male for species with a 50-50 gender split). Thus, female Pokémon are generally weaker in Gen 2 (if they rely on Attack, that is).

I've been binging all your shiny vids for about a week now because it occupies me while I continue my search for a shiny Sudowoodo in Pokémon heart Gold. I've spent many days soft resetting and it just won't shine. Getting my shiny starter only took around 7 hours but this "odd tree" is really taking the biscuit!

g/s/c will forever be the best games in my book. my favorite pokémon (lugia, cyndaquil line, suicune, umbreon, espeon) were introduced there, i absolutely love it's story and i can't forget that damn shiny sudoowoodo that i watered and found without even trying.
