That pleasure-pain box hit me in the core of my soul. That is me. Always. I have to work on that. I've heard that starting with smaller things that don't seem TOO "now-hard" can prepare you for the harder stuff that takes longer to do.

This is great. I like the way you put this and your simple formulas (Easy now = Hard Later). You really are the dummies guide to human behaviour and I mean that as high praise :-) It's hard to put things SO clearly and yet SO humorously and engagingly. Your facial expressions and eye rolls are so funny it makes me laugh WITH you while I'm nodding along. And yet, as simply as I feel you're putting these ideas when you deliver them, I am listening to this for the second time. Why do we do what we do! We need to crack our own codes. I feel confident inside my own head when I'm at home. I have silenced that critical, demeaning voice. But when I'm trying to navigate my way through life, bosses, colleagues etc and progress and when I have to assert my self and apply myself and therefore deal with OTHER PEOPLE, then I feel that I need confidence. So basically if I never left the house and never sought to change, I'd be very confident. You could fool yourself that you were confident if you did the easy thing forever and never did the hard thing.

Yami Mami, by gaining the skills and sticking with something that you feel food about.

Well, it’s more about being insecure. I’m in a relationship but I’m constantly thinking that my boyfriend is talking or texting someone. He keeps telling me that I’m so insecure. I want to trust him but I can’t. Every time he’s on the phone, or go to the bathroom with his phone I feel that he’s texting another girl. I’m always thinking bad about him. My ex cheated on me and I haven’t gotten over that. I want to be able to trust my boyfriend and have a piece of mind. What can I do ?

Interesting I get the pain of regret most players I coach don't practice what is required to be proficient. This video makes me think how boring chores can be for kids and myself taking piano lessons as a kid I hated playing all those scales, so my technique has never been polished
@LiveOnPurposeTV5 жыл бұрын
It is really getting them to see how the boring part will benefit them later, isn't it, William Ridley? Hard to do but powerful when the kids finally understand that time put in now pays off later.

Hy Dr. Paul. I love your videos. I have a question, though. It is regarding my middle son. Every time he does something he shouldn't and we reprimend him (even in a calm an loving way, or even just say: "please don't do it") he gets ashamed. Lowers his head and usually stops doing what he has been doing, and goes to a private corner where he feels ashamed, or sad, and sometimes soaks. He is usually also very shy and keeps a lot to himself. One example was when he was 3, he used to go to karate practice together with his older brother, and once we recieved a video of his practice from a trainer, and showed it to him and expressed how proud we were, he didnt want to go to the practice anymore. As if we broke into his private world. What is a conecrn for us, that as he grows older (he's 5 now) he will keep secrets from us and we wont be able to help him if he gets in trouble. Do you have any advice for us?
@LiveOnPurposeTV4 жыл бұрын
sljivan1, I'm glad you are enjoying the videos - thank you for watching. Even though it sounds like you are speaking in a very loving and positive way, your son may be sensitive to certain words or phrases without you even realizing it. Here are a few videos on what to say and not say to your child, which may be helpful in regards to communication with him: "3 Things You Should Say To Your Child Every Day" - kzbin.info/www/bejne/pWm6hYylorKEj8k "7 Things You Should Never Say To Your Child" - kzbin.info/www/bejne/qnvXlp96ZsxmkKM "What Is The Most Psychologically Damaging Thing You Can Say To A Child" - kzbin.info/www/bejne/q2eWo2muZZqFhtE If you are looking to build his self confidence, this might be a good video: "Four Tips On How To Raise A Child With Self-Confidence" - kzbin.info/www/bejne/bmbOf2xve915b5Y Two more videos that you may find useful are: "How To Get Children To Talk About Their Feelings" - kzbin.info/www/bejne/q3rGn6mYeZaaprs "Positive Communication With Your Child" - kzbin.info/www/bejne/kKqUgmWrgt6Weck I certainly hope these help. Please be patient with him as he continues to grow and learn about himself and his world. You are doing a great job.
