I'm a Real Madrid fan, and even I'm confused still lmao Obviously Benz was in an offside position, we all know that, but it all depends on wether Valverde or Fabinho was the one to play the ball. If it was Valverde the one who played it, and then it rebounded onto Benzema, it's an offside, but if it was Fabinho who played it backwards, it should have been allowed. We have the example of the last Nation League's final. Deep pass to Mbappe (Who is clearly offside), Eric García, who doesn't know that, tries to clear the pass but ends giving it away to Mbappe, who then scores the winner, and for some reason it is allowed. So if that was a goal, considering Eric García tried to clear the ball w/o knowing if Kylian was offside, this is absolutely 100% for sure a legal goal, no question about it. In this case, Fabinho was trying to play (or clear) the ball, which ended up on Karim's feet, therefore making it a valid goal. But if you ask me tomorrow, I may have a different opinion lmao.

@@Efeverscente well here's the thing: if you are in an offside position and the opponent plays the ball in your direction, you are fine. But let's say that you're in an offside position and your teammate passes you the ball, but the defender gets a touch on the ball and it still goes to you; then you are offside. So I think they called it offside because the Liverpool player didn't play the ball to Benzema, the Madrid player touched it first (and if there had been no defender and the touch went to Benzema, it would have been offside). He played the ball and the Pool player deflected it and went to Benzema, which falls under the category which is offside that I mentioned earlier

It was the right decision. It doesn't matter if it came off Fabinho. The rules clearly state that if a player is in an offside position which Benzema was, they can only receive the ball from an opposition player if the play wasn't deflected off them or wasn't deliberate. In this case it was neither. Fabinho deliberately tried to tackle yes but he did did not intend Konate's tackle to deflect off him and land in front of Benzema who gained advantage by being in an offside position. The deflection off him from Konate wasn't deliberate and wasn't intended to land to Benzema.

Mbappé made a similar play where someone passes the ball to Mbappe but he was offside, then Spanish player (Eric García) tries to intercept the ball, Eric touches the ball and it’s onside for Mbappé. If Eric didn’t touch the ball, then Mbappé would be offside.

Liverpool started well but 2nd half was poor by them. They came into the game thinking like they've already won. Obviously Tibo dropped a masterclass but similarly to City, Liverpool are tactically quite one-dimensional. When they cannot break a low block they'll become toothless and resort to spamming pointless crosses in the box. Liverpool's fullbacks were quite poor and it showed during the winning goal which was a brilliantly orchestrated attack. Real Madrid executed their game plan to near perfection.
