It's nice to see that you two are able to get out and travel. My wife and I were back in Virginia recently. We moved away from there to another state awhile back and bought a house and then went back to Virginia get her dad and move him in with us because he was pretty old. I'm thankful that God gave us the ability to do that because it was hard for him to make it on his own. Recently he had been going downhill fast with his health and one Sabbath we were going to go to church as usual but I told my wife I thought we should stay home because it wasn't good to leave him by himself. That day we had to take him into the hospital and three days later he died. We had his body sent back to Virginia and we went up there with my wife's son and her brother and his son came up and he was given a military funeral. I know he is very missed by everyone. He was a kind and gentle man.

I went on a business trip in 2007 to Destin. I stayed in a fancy hotel on the beach with a room facing the ocean. Probably the best beach ever. Walking on the beach was like walking in powdered sugar. It’s really a beautiful place. I’m so glad you got to go.

I was raised 20 miles north of Pensacola in Gonzalez. I got to stay there for 4 days with family- stayed in the motel units. It was so comfortable and peaceful there. It was over 100 degrees in west Columbia - extremely comfortable and cool there. Constant breeze - inward then out to sea. I could live there a long time. Note- you could rent entire boats and other toys for water. Had to study and take a test for Florida license. Very nice I was thankful and appreciated- thanks for the review!

I have always wanted to move to Florida but I married a mountain man 53 years ago June 27th and he won’t leave his mountains! We have been to Florida many times, mostly central Florida, I even crossed off one of my bucket list items two years ago, swam with the manatees in Crystal Springs. Keep smiling Elizabeth, can’t wait to see the girly things you bought for the Florida house. How fun! We are also retired military and need to start checking out some of the places as you have. Looks wonderful. We lived in St Pete for three years when we first entered the military and I miss it like crazy. There is just a feeling and a mood you have living in the tropical type climates. So glad you got to take advantage finally of your planned trip. Glad you will return next year! Have safe travel home and can't wait to see you return to Fla and enjoy more of the new Fla home! There are many military recreation centers all over the world. There’s one in the German Alps that we used to stay at all the time when I was stationed there. Also, almost every military base has an RV park and a guest house that retired military can use. The possibilities are endless!

Aww, I loved this whole video, including the bloopers at the end. I'm not a huge fan of Florida, overall, too much humidity and bugs. But that said my first introductions to the state, were at Disney World, and Ft Lauderdale. The beaches on the coast side, at least, back in the '80s were a huge disappointment. Even the "private beach" for the hotel where we were staying, just wasn't very pretty, and had trash around. But that said, following those trips we visited Destin, twice, and I LOVED it! The whole city and area is so lovely, as you said, and the beaches were sparkling white! The last visit was in the mid '90s, and just as we were leaving, as scheduled, a hurricane was moving in. We remarked to the desk clerks as we checked out that we guessed our timing was perfect. Good time to leave... "Oh," they said, "you'd be fine if you were staying. Hurricanes NEVER hit Destin." Well we needed to leave anyway, so got on the road. We spent that night, somewhere in Mississippi, and when we got to our room, we switched the TV on to watch the news. To our horror, there was Destin, looking nothing like it had when we left. That hurricane turned out to be the first to hit Destin and left horrific devastation in its path. We felt so sad for them, but grateful we had gone, when we did. I think it's been hit 2 or 3 times since. But I'm glad to see it's now, again, beautiful as ever! The place you were staying was very nice! That room was equipped like an Air B&B would be! When we've traveled since the Pandemic, we've been mostly staying in those. As you say much cheaper, when you can cook your meals if you like. And the nightly rates are generally quite a bit cheaper than hotels or motels in the areas where they are. That "recreation area" was indeed well maintained! And one more well deserved perk for those who have served our nation. Thank you for showing all you did in this video. And reminding me of the beauty of Destin!

You stated you were stationed in Germany 🇩🇪. My parents were born there. Mom BERLIN 1921 and dad 1922 in BRAUNLAUNGE HARTS 🎿 MOUNTAINS. It's a ski resort VILLAGE. It's so beautiful. I was 12 & 15 when I was there. At 12, I RAN down the mountain for 30 minutes. Silly thing's we've done. At 15 my dad & I rode up to the top. I asked him "PLEASE PAPA, Would you yodel for me. He did. The most beautiful sound's I ever heard in my life. It echo through the mountains.. He smiled with me. I hugged him so tightly. One of our happiest moment's we shared. That was in the late 60's. He took me around his Homeland, the woods and showed me his childhood before WW11. (He was 17 years old when he had to fight.) I saw where he went almost daily. A man named over 100 deer's. He called each name and they came out of the woods to eat. It was AMAZING ❤️. He showed me his Woods, rivers and tree house he built. At noon, lunch time, he went home to eat. No watch. The sun told you the time. So, you were never late. We went to the indoor movie's. I got to sit in the room where they showed the huge reel of the movies. They gave us all Free, candy, popcorn, drinks and movies. They were so happy to hear from my Dad. Being he moved after the war. They went to 🇨🇦first, then🇺🇸. There was no more people that could move to the 🇺🇸 America. He went to Georgia BAY🇨🇦 aND worked in the GOLD MINES for 18 months to pay the shipping fee to travel. My mom came 6 Weeks later. They were married in Southern GERMANY Baveria. She worked in the kitchen and dining room at the SAME GOLD MINDS. MY dad was hired to work at G.M.C. In MICHIGAN USA 🇺🇸. That's how we got Stateside.🇨🇦 to 🇺🇸. We were very BLESSED FAMILY. THANK YOU GOD🀄🛐✝️🥀🌹❤️❤️❤️❤️🀄🛐✝️🤟🌻👍🌴👍 Thank you for Sharing from your HEART'S. My dad was a Paratrooper. He was the ONLY SOLDIER to come back HOME to his town. GOD has BLESSED us in so MANY WAYS. AMEN

The Destin area is so beautiful. Many years ago I drove further south with my young teenage daughters to Apalachicola Bay, stayed in a beautiful bed and breakfast. We went to St George Island state park, there were about 20 people on the entire beach, I was ecstatic. In that whiny sing-song voice, the girls say, “can we just go somewhere where there is civilization?” 🤷🏻‍♀️

Sharyn I enjoyed your comment regarding St George Island. We love it there and at Mexico Beach. Those are my two favorite beaches in Florida, because it isnt crowded and because of the beautiful white sand. We live in Florida near Keaton Beach which is more of a fishing village and we travel a short distance to St. George and Mexico Beach. We went last June and will hopefully go back this summer.

Blue Mountain Beach by Destin was my first trip to see the Ocean . I was 58 and fell in love with the ocean ,I live in Missouri we went on a family trip with my daughter and her family. Since then they moved to Pensacola I’ve gone there a couple times it’s so beautiful. If you go to Destin again you should eat at goat feathers it’s really good they use to have a special buy 1 entree and get one free and it was delicious. I hope to go there again . Gorgeous sunset! I loved your room with all the comforts. My husband and I stayed at a resort in Kissemee for our honeymoon and it had everything you would want, too. We married in August of 2001 and our honeymoon was in that next month, September, just after 9-11! As you can imagine, no one was there. We visited Disney World and didn't wait for anything, just went and did it. It was a great time to visit. The seafood you had looked SO good! I haven't had genuine seafood since 2016 when we were in Maine!

Thanks for sharing this video with us! I love the fact I can live vicariously through you all by watching your videos especially the beach videos. I'm originally from Florida and grew up on the beaches of East coast. My favorite beach is Flagler Beach, in the 70's and 80's it was so private. My father would only go there with us he didn't like the crowds at all. Momma would take us to New Smyrna beach. I would go stay with my cousin who lived in New Smyrna beach and we would go to beach then go shopping in Daytona beach go out to any seafood restaurant we wanted to then go back to her house. I miss her so much, she was an elderly cousin of mine and she didn't drive so we would have a blast together. I would ask her where she wanted to go and she would tell me then the stories she had were amazing. The one that really sticks in my mind was during WWII and she said they had lights out. I asked what that was like and she said No lights were allowed on after dark because the submarines were literally just off shore and everyone had to be home before dark. She said it was nerve reckoning. I said I'm sure it was. I think about our situation here in America and start wondering how things are going to turn. My plans are stocking up on Thrive life because it's not getting better. Love you both and God Bless You! ❤🕊
