I found you when you were in Sweeden and you started a go fund me for Art & Bri. I am so happy you are finally here in the US. I look forward to your search for home and watch you build your farm from the ground up. I love learning, and even though I am 71 and can't walk, I do love watching others build thier homesteads and accomplish their dreams...I share your joy too!

My grandparents lived near the Mississippi River in NW,WI where they were dairy farmers. The land is very fertile there but cold in winter and pricy as it has become a rural hideout for folks who want to escape Minneapolis and St Paul, MN to find peaceful home life. For about 15 years I lived in Southern AL and SC because my husband was job transferred. When we would drive north to see family I always enjoyed the areas of TN and KY. They do get many more tornadoes in the summers there so be sure to look for places with storm shelters. They can also receive much rain from hurricanes coming in along the Gulf of Mexico. But the land is very pretty. There are poisonous snakes such as copperheads so children need to watch where they step and put their hands. To me farm life is a wonderful life. I will pray that you land in a heavenly spot. I have been watching since Sweden. My genealogical roots are mostly from Norway, Sweden, and Switzerland, so I enjoyed watching your show to see the land my ancestors left to make a new life here.

I started watching you in Sweden to learn more about homesteading but got interested in your family and your life adventures. You have not disappointed at all. Missed you when you were gone for a while. I am looking forward to seeing where God takes you and learning more about permaculture and homesteading. We are in NY (as far away from New York city as you can get and still be in NY) on 43 acres and hubby and I are in our 70's. I wish we could have done a lot of things when we were younger but we still garden, compost, have chickens and source all of our meat locally.

Simeon , I so appreciate your honest comments . I will be honest with you ~ in a way I was initially disappointed you moved here to the US , but not for the reason you might think . I am 74 & it grieves my heart that this country has gone so against the GOD loving , GOD fearing , mostly moral nation it once was . But now I realize that GOD has the perfect land for you & your beautiful family & will reveal it in HIS perfect timing ! HE has chosen for you to be here for such a time as this . If there was one thing that was revealed during the lock downs ~ it was the absolute importance & a must that parents home school their children !!!!! I live in central Virginia , near Charlottesville , Virginia & about 40 miles from the Shenadoah Valley . It is beautiful here , but we have been all Summer & still are - going through a severe drought . GOD bless you , & keep you . Have a wonderful Thanksgiving & enjoy that scrumptous turkey dinner !

My family lives in NC mountains just 4miles from the NC/TN border. 7 years ago we were looking at property just across the border in TN, but chose NC because we like the less restrictive homeschooling laws in NC.
@UnderTheFloor79

The homeschooling laws are really reasonable in TN. It looks much worse on paper than it actually is.
@oneofmany7051
@oneofmany7051 Жыл бұрын
I agree with @UnderTheFloor79 that the homeschooling laws aren't a big deal in Tennessee. They recently made a small change in hours spent schooling each day, but I don't know of anyone who has changed up their homeschool days because of it, myself included. Since some of our neighboring counties are in Alabama, I know homeschooling families there, too, and they are less restrictive than Tennessee. But the way I saw it whe we started homeschooling in 2017 is that Alabama had zero restrictions and Tennessee had a few. So based on the original comment here, I am guessing that North Carolina is probably more like Alabama in terms of homeschooling laws. I don't have high schoolers just yet, but I do know that Tennessee now requires a semester of personal finance to graduate high school. Not sure if that is a recent addition or not. That sounds reasonable to me. Many people I know just have their kids take Dave Ramsey's course for high schoolers. Personally, I like using an online cover school like Home Life Academy. I only have to enter things in twice a year and they will generate report cards and transcripts if I need them. Nobody is knocking on my door demanding to see my records like they seem to do in some states; what I enter online seems to be sufficient. I also appreciate their high school planning tract outlines, which give us options and guidance. Anyway, I personally see Tennessee homeschooling laws as offering some kind of guidance while still allowing all the freedom. Just wanted to clarify that! 😊

If you travel to Tennessee, perhaps you can check out Nate and Katie Kraemer on their homestead. They have been trying to build a pond on their 60+ acres. Of course, Justin and Rebekah Rhodes are in North Carolina as are Ben and Meg Hollar of the Hollar Homestead. And my friends, Jason and Julie Kreke are in Missouri. Their calling and passion is to grow a ministry on their property and maybe buy a larger homestead there. ❤

I love you all, I have watched from the very beginning. I am concerned for you here because of your lack of knowledge of our really bad government. If you find land, don't settle in blue. Their purpose is to destroy everything you try to build. I would get some really good professional counsel and advice before you make a move from the right kind of people. The people in power are on a path of destruction of America. It takes a lot of savvy and prayer to avoid their pitfalls. God Bless

Are you aware of how many calories you burn typing all three letters of three letter words? It may not seem like much, but they can really add up over time. In addition, by using all the letters you can make it so much easier for this 82 yr old to understand what you are trying to say. Here’s hoping. 👵🏻🤞

I've been following Simeon and Alex since Sweden. What's funny is that, even though they didn't say it directly, I always felt they were Christians in some type of ministry. I recall Alex said she met Simeon in Bible college, so these present revelations shouldn't be shocking anyone who was paying attention. Because of that, I was also certain they were already homeschooling their children, but apparently that isn't an option in Europe. I knew it wasn't allowed in some European countries, but perhaps it's the whole continent. I'm a huge advocate of homeschooling.

Here for the 'give Arizona a chance' comments, especially the mountains. Once you get to the right elevation, it can be fairly familiar to those of us used more to the alps. Only with more space, more wildlife, great people, and more affordable land... Good call on keeping the Christian stuff off this channel. I do not come to KZbin seeking spiritual enlightenment, and I suspect many people find it actively off-putting, whether they have faith or not.
