Yeah, this song is all about the duality of things in so many ways... putting the blame of the cult not only on the possibly corrupt leader, but also upon you for giving them that power. I love how this manifests in two closely related lyrics. In the first verse you hear “Only you can set me free”... as in a cultish leader can only be unleashed because of the masses behind them propping them up. In the second verse, though, it’s “only you can set you free”... as in you’re the one who needs to learn how to break free from “the matrix” of sorts. Simple but very potent lyrics...

"Wow dude" pretty much the sums it up. I like how Mal Reynolds in Firefly put it best, "It's my estimation that every man ever got a statue made of him was one kind of sommbitch or another."

I paused this before commenting. Having watched/liked many of your reactions, I knew you were going to enjoy this! You are one of the few that look at the meaning as well as the musical side.

Start with Epic (we all did). After that, anything goes, but Midlife Crisis and We Care A Lot should be in there. Btwn Mike's Patton and Bordin, you'll have a great time.

Not only a band of social consciousness formed at UC Berkley but unbelievable musicians. Far far too underrated. This whole album is amazing, LOVED them.
@rollomaughfling3809 ай бұрын
What the Hell are you talking about? Living Colour formed and operated in NYC. The nearest connection to what you wrote, which is still a million miles off is that drummer Will Calhoun had graduated Berklee College of Music, not UC Berkely, which is in California. Berklee College of Music is on Boylston Street in Boston, MA. 😬

You've reacted to a bunch of Avenged Sevenfold stuff in the past but haven't done much of them lately. How about you give Second Heartbeat a listen. Once you get the basics down it's a pretty simple song to play on guitar too excluding the solo).

@@ovtpvt4648 the whole album rocks. Matts vocals were amazing back then. Today's a7x just isn't the same but I get it, Matt destroyed his vocal chords so many times he just can't do it anymore

This song is 30+ years old. Listen to the first two albums to see how far we HAVEN’T come. Also, I find it so dope that you started this with a clip of leotard-clad aerobics folks, then playing a video of Corey Glover wearing Body Glove ...

For me this was my introduction to rock and roll. I didn’t give up my love for hip hop but this is amazing, and as you pointed out, this was the 80s. Hair metal ruled the airwaves. The lyrics and delivery and the riff and groove just all connect so perfectly
