As a current long haul trucker, I'd like to weigh in on this after reading some of these comments. Before you guys go bashing him for this kind of choice, saying stuff like "his priorities are backwards" or "he's just living in a fantasy", maybe consider what might have brought him to a choice like this. I've been driving for 4 years, nowhere near as long as some but long enough to understand that its not easy living on the road. Is it simpler? yes, it can be much, much simpler and more freeing to take a step back and really think about what your doing with life. Its not easy at times, but it can be done. The setup he has looks rather nice while also being efficient on space, although i sure hope that mattress is comfortable! Nothing makes a good nights sleep rough like a bad mattress. Is it less costly? In the long run, you'll very likely end up saving double the initial cost, as building something like this is always the most expensive part. Some people I've talked to have done this to save money, others have grown tired of this materialistic world and want to remove/distance themselves from it. Others have done it because its what they could afford or had no other choice. Yes, its true you need to find a bathroom or laundromat etc, but there are enough that unless your in a really rural place it should not be too hard. Had i done this before i got into driving, i might have reevaluated that choice. But, as 'hard' as it may seem, mostly due to modern kids being somewhat coddled in some ways and not so much in others, people like him are passing on knowledge that is of value should the same thing happen to one of us. Yes, there is a chance it might. Is it certain? No. Just my two cents after living on the road for the better part of 4 years.

My ex fiancee was an over the road driver- for yeears. He saved also by having his own inverter, fridge, tv, etc etc. When resting at truck stops due to jist grueling trips, always tried to rest where they had "plug and play"..most of the times at Wal-Mart, or truck friendly spots (very difficult-even then) he would check and find during trips which he would go to on the return. He saved a lot in the long run. I have contemplated that type of living for a while now. I watch the videos of people living in vans, suvs, cars, etc. A lot of them have steady work right in the area they are in..in other words, they never left their job! Others are blessed to have secured employment that they can do on a lap top or pre-planning presentations they will do for their employer, temp work as well. There is a community here on yt that even helps displaced families with that way of living..they fund themselves with donations and check the people out and they all get together and do the build for the inside of the vehicle!! I mean every thing! It is truly amazing!

Believe me, if you are homeless, a vehicle is a luxury. It is: SHELTER IN ALL WEATHER HEAT IN WINTER AC IM SUMMER A PLACE TO SLEEP SAFELY CAN CHARGE YOUR CELLPHONE CAN DRIVE TO A PUBLIC BATHROOM CAN DRIVE TO A QUIET PARK CAN LISTEN TO THE RADIO CAN DRIVE TO FREE WIFI SPOTS There is no comparisons I was homeless for 2 1/2 years. The first 1 1/2 I lived in my truck. When my truck broke down I ended up on the street for one year. You better believe I missed my truck bad. I don't know how I survived except for that God preserved me and sent His angels to protect me~ I have an apartment now thank God.

I spent a whole winter in Calgary in a Dodge Caravan with just warm clothes and a couple of sleeping bags and foam mattress . Lowest temperature was -33C. The dry air of the prairies make the sleeping bags more effective. I've done the same on the BC coast but the damp makes 5C feel like 0C and 0C feel like -20C. I don't like to overcomplicate minivan living with too much modification. I make a kind of tent out of a tarp in the van for privacy and collapse it when I got to work, so no one at work thinks I live in my vehicle. I've never had any problem and my bank balance now great. I've spent four Winters like that

You're comparing his "outsides" with your "insides". He's "on stage" when he makes these videos, so you have no idea what's really going on with him. Bad habit we ALL have is to compare other people's "outsides" with our "insides" and assume everyone is happier, etc., than we are.

If you have to pay more than 20% of your income on rent, this is the way to do it. I wish power and water kits were sold for setting this up. What I found amusing is storing ice cream in a wheel well but too civilized to eat it from the carton.
