LIVING IN A YURT | Choosing Our Yurt - Off Grid Life, Day 3 kzbin.info/www/bejne/i4HWcmaPib6MqJo We will be building and living in our own yurt coming up. Currently we are living on our 8 acre wilderness property called "Black Fish Hollow". We have chosen the yurt location and have begun clearing the location of trees and shrubs. Tomorrow the materials for the platform will be delivered! This Yurt build and Yurt life will be a journey, we hope you SUBSCRIBE and come with us! Enjoy #yurt #offgrid #tinyhouse #jakemace #livingoffgrid Nicole and I are attempting to live off the grid in British Columbia, Canada. We have 8 acres of forest property sandwiched in between the Pacific Ocean, a fresh water lake, and a stream which flows year round from the lake into the ocean. Today we build a shelter to allow us to escape the rain and have a home-base to congregate from! Special Thanks to Pacific Yurts: www.yurts.com/ Instagram: PacificYurts For over nearly 10 years I grew a fruit tree, permaculture, garden, and native edible plant, herb, and raised bed garden food forest. You can still watch all the garden videos of my old desert garden in Arizona. I was born in British Columbia and I have returned to the Rain Forests of British Columbia to a "Raw Land" property to grow my 1st FULL EDIBLE FOOD FOREST Off Grid on a wilderness property. This climate is temperate and coastal, rarely seeing snow in the winter and highs in the 80's (30 Celsius) in the summer. It is a rare microclimate that spans from gardening zone 7-9. The property is 8 acres and completely overgrown, mostly with conifer trees. This area is a verifiable rain forest and situated in the Southwestern-most tip of the Canadian "Great Bear Rain Forest". NicHolistic (www.KZbin.com/HolisticNicole) and I will be learning about edible seaweeds, edible native plants, edible mushrooms, and many other edible native trees/plants as we attempt to Build a Yurt, Draw Our Energy Clean, Live Off the Grid, and Grow an Epic Superfoods Garden and Fruit Tree Orchard. We will also have a lot of changes coming so get ready. Hey Jake, this has to be my favourite video from the two of you since your adventure in Blackfish began. Very well done. Loved the "story", the music, the whole thing. That yurt is amazing. As someone who has lived in a much smaller space for 5 years (sailboat) that 30ft home of yours is huge! The display models were incredible. Hopefully one day we can come by and see the finished product in Blackfish. Keep up the great work - videos and construction progress! Lance & Carol - Victoria

I know you have limited funds, but you needs some portable solar panels, battery charger, a couple of 6V golf cart batteries and an inverter. With electric power, you can use battery operated tools, have lights (not needed at this time of year). and greatly improve you life.

if you are going to live in a yurt , you need to make sure two things number one , put insulation in the platform , or have a carpet with underlay , in mongolia they have rugs , you need to be protected from below as well ,and two you eed plenty of insulation , mongolia they use sheep felt insulation and a good stove are paramount , you will be living in a tent when all is said and done , having said that , my ancestors did it for thousands of years but always with good insulation and fire

I thought you were really wanting to keep the location secret. Was a little concerned you shared so much about the general area you're in now. Hope you guys are still able to keep your privacy =// Great video though, the yurts look Great! Would you be willing to do a video in the future about the general costs of what you paid? Had never even Thought of living in a yurt, but after that awesome little tour of that company that you did, getting to see the insides of some of the various ones and seeing how many different sizes they had (and I'm guessing how customizable they are), I would actually genuinely consider getting one to stay in if I'm ever able to buy raw land or a homestead while I'm building it up :)
@raymondmills93775 жыл бұрын
I am no expert on yurt living but i wonder can you keep it warm enough to be comfortable? Without being a slave to a wood stove.
@oscarkarais1755 жыл бұрын
Raymond Mills well they were invented in Mongolia... which gets really cold weather...
