Epanomi, North Greece is a nice place for retirement. Next to the sea, not far from a big city😊

Good video. I live in Thailand with my Thai wife now and we did go to a place called Parga on the mainland and we had a wonderful time and I thought the holiday in Parga was better than most of the Greek islands I have visited. Most people I know have been going to the Greek islands for years but have never been to the mainland.

@@LivinginGreece Ha Ha. I think in the future more people will leave the UK the way things are going. Do you think a single guy on a government pension will get by on 180 pounds a week in Greece?
@LivinginGreece
@LivinginGreece 11 ай бұрын
Depends if you have to pay for a house out of that. I think the state pension here is about 700 euros a month so on 180 you wont be rich but also not poor.

Finally, I am a Patreon because as I mentioned in the past, I will move to Kalamata in about two years. As I approach the move date, I will probably have many questions for you. As a Patreon I won't feel guilty for asking so many questions! LOL

Γεια σας from The Netherlands. Love your video's! We are looking ourselves for a rental for our permanent move to Peloponnese. I didn't see the most recent video's, so maybe you already advised your viewers that the minimum for Golden Visa has increased to €400K as per August 1 2024. If one makes a downpayment of €10K before August 1 one is allowed to go under the current GV rules (but everything has to be payed for before year-end). Also, the residency is not 10 years but way less. Also important: one is not allowed to work in Greece under that visum!

There is a conversational Greek course that I found on Audible and it might be found elsewhere, it is called Pimsleur. The Pimsleur method only has audio-based lessons with speaking exercises, and for those of us who speak English as a first language, it really helps with pronunciation. The lessons are 30 minutes and the rule of thumb is to do one lesson a day. I don't always do a lesson a day and I typically repeat the lessons two or three times before going on to the next lesson. I probably won't become completely fluent with the Pimsleur method, I'll definitely become conversational. I have another course that contains reading and writing lessons, but Pimsleur seems to help me wrap my mouth around Greek pronunciation (LOL).

Ahhh yes I've heard of this. It's supposed to be good. Tanya uses Greek 101 and i have a traditional book and cd course to start when the house is finiished. 😀
@elenidavis4983
@elenidavis4983 Жыл бұрын
@@LivinginGreece the traditional courses build our competency in grammar, etc. The Pimsleur course is more like a supplement; it builds auditory and pronunciation skills. I put on my earphones and listen, and repeat the phrases for just 30 min, while doing physical things like cleaning or walking.

hey! keep up the good works ! i have some questions 1. i would say that your videos will become just half when Tanya is away for 2 months! but i really understand that someone has a spiritual path! so find some themes ,travel around in pelopennes or find something interesting for the viewers. 2 . this email stuff was a bit strange, just pick the interesting ones and discuss it on the videos

My first new car was a 99 Corolla and I still miss it. It is an incredibly reliable and economical car, and I would still have it if it wasn't for the lady that crashed into me. Take care of it!

Yes the old ones are excellent. In 3 years its only needed tires and brake pads and discs. It looks a wreck with faded paint and scuffed wheel trims but thats okay as no one is likely to steal it 🤣 but it starts first time every time and is good for 150kmh on the toll roads. I love it (mainly cause I've not had to fix it yet)

Enjoy your videos! I just came back from Greece after a 12 day trip. I was there for sailing training/testing but explored Athens and Nafplio as well. I totally could see myself living in Nafplio and was actually sad to leave. I'm not retired but am looking for places to return to and perhaps spend a number of months out of the year. How do you find the internet service in Greece generally? Also, how is the Greek immigration law/enforcement agencies? Are they somewhat favorable to expats or long-term vacationers?
@LivinginGreece
@LivinginGreece 5 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching, yeah nafplio is really nice! We live in the mountains and our internet is fine, it can be a little intermittent in bad weather but then we can double up with good 4g if needed. The local law is fine (almost non existent) and our area sort of polices itself.

I'm building up to do a video on cars but need more info first. Its convoluted. In the meantime check-out the gov website. You also have to pay depreciation tax on cars under 10 years old but noone i know can fathom it out yet. Watch this space, as soon as i know I'll video it all.

Love your videos, particularly the questions and answers! We're going through the same thought process now since having a little girl..We now realise we have no community and how broken the British culture is. Greece ticks a lot of boxes for us but we're planning to home educate. Do you know if it's at all possible for British citizens to home educate in Greece? It's not allowed there for Greeks apparently 😢 HUGE stumbling block if we can't home educate 😢

Hey beanie, thanks for watching 🙂 agree with your thoughts about the uk. I'm not sure anyone would notice if you homeschooled or not. Not sure of the rules tbh, I'll ask around and let you know if i hear anything. The greek school system isn't bad by all accounts. And kids learn language fast.

Yeah i have to say the methods of doing any type of business quickly are still a mystery to me! Apart from that the lifestyle is very nice. Luckily we both work online so dont have to fathom the greek business culture out too much. Everything else just needs a whole heap of patience 🤣
