I was an Executive Assistant and I loathed that job. Worked that for 20 years. Quit after my mom died in 2020. Lived a year on savings then started doing gig work full time. It’s been tough and I’ve put in apps to go back into Admin work but I can never show up for the interview! This just confirmed why I can’t do that work again. My freedom is much more important!

14:48 For safety so the stuff doesn’t get handed off to the wrong person, allow them to say their name first, so you know it’s a match (now when you ask to confirm their name you have said first, they only have to say ”yes” and you can’t be 100 % sure it’s really the right person). Same when people take cabs, allow them to say their name so it’s not the wrong person driving off with you! Stay safe out there❤

I did the same thing earlier this year, working full time for Grubhub, Doordash, Uber Eats, and Instacart and living in my car. It's so crazy how so many more people are doing this now. I live in southern California, and with those stats that you have, especially with the active time... if you were out here, you'd be making so much money off of just prop 22, on top of your actual earnings. I could pull $200 a day on average and anywhere from $200-$300 additional per week on just prop 22. Plus, you could earn the healthcare rebate, which is about $1200 additional per quarter if you average about 30 active hours per week. The only downside to that is that you'd have to really focus on just using one or 2 apps max primarily if you want to actually build up to 30 active hours a week.

Ty for sharing this info. I am originally from Cali. we currently live on the coast of MS & we have to actively work 7-9.5 hrs just to make $175 in one day. I took on additional apps & waitlisted for GH, Spark & DD. I am not homeless & do own my own home but wouldn’t have a problem living out of my car. My husband on the other hand probably wouldn’t like it at all. I’ve done it before when I was in my 20’s so not a big deal. My husband was just diagnosed with early onset dementia so he can no longer drive or work so we drive together. There is so much we want to do before he progresses to his final stage so traveling to CA. is something to consider now. I will def look into the Prop 22 bcz until now I haven’t heard about it. Thanks again. Good luck to you.

On your next car you should consider a Subaru. We've owned a dealership for 20 years and my husband's an ASE certified mechanic. We sell mostly Subarus because they are bullet proof. The biggest expense is usually a head gasket but even that's usually a one off and they'll go to over 400k miles. My 98 has 350, one head gasket replacement and it still runs so well we can't bring ourselves to let it go. Hope this helps.

i don't know why exactly but I really enjoy dashing -- I've done it both when I absolutely needed the money to simply survive and still now when it is completely inconsequential to my life I still go out at least 2-3x a week. For one, it is a great way for me to get into a mental zone and process things (work/family/parenting/etc.) while staying productive/active. In my current area I average 25$/H+ fairly easily and so I basically get an extra 1K for some mandatory "me" time throughout each month. interestingly, it is one of the spaces in my life where I get reminded often just how many good humans are on this planet and that is great for anyone's mental health and well being. all the best to you!

RETIREMENT, RETIREMENT, RETIREMENT!!! IDK how old you are but I"m 52 and have NOTHING.. I live paycheck to paycheck. I can't afford a car. Roth IRA is supposedly where it's at. No one needs 1800 extra. Put 1000 of that into your retirement. you could be a millionaire by retirement age. You may already have a retirement account from your office job. just please put as much as possible away. Open multiple accounts since you can only put so much away per month. With age comes your heath. medicare only coves 80% and you'll need back u insurance. that's a few hundred per month. you won't be able to live in your car when your 80. you'll want a nice place to live. and if you have kids you don't want the burden of taking care of you on them. that's my biggest fear is my son having to support me when I'm older.

Awesome video. Thank you for sharing your experience and showing how, many people can make it happen for themselves. Also, when using a vehicle for deliveries or services at different locations, there is a depreciation you can use on your taxes toward that vehicle for UpTo 5 years. The way that you kept record of your time and mileage can be used to determine the amount deducted from income, so you pay less taxes. There are other expenses like, maintenance, meals, entertainment and travel expenses that be deducted also. If anyone keeps good account of these expenses, you can save yourself a lot of stress and 💰 money.

The bit of knowledge I can pass along after being one of the original Uber drivers In Chicago in 2013 is find a good local mechanic preferably someone other drivers use. That will make your cars last longer. Even if you blow a transmission or engine you can have those replaced relatively inexpensively by buy used parts from totaled cars. You can usually replace a Transmission with a low mileage one for about $750 -$1000 parts and installation, a low mileage engine for $900 -$1400. Key is finding the mechanic. For parts LQK auto parts❤ is absolutely the best most reliable company I know. Over my 10 years of driving I replaced 4 engines and 3 transmissions. Owned 3 cars over that span each car made it well over 500K.

I had a mortgage, expenses and many rescued animals. Trust me when I say there is no loyalty to the employee any more. At 61, after 20+ years at this company, the new management laid me off. I guess it will force me out of my comfort zone to side hustles like this, because who’s gonna hire a 61 year old? What a shite thing to do to someone just a few years away from retirement, that they don’t have to pay for 😡 Stay free and you’ll stay sane.

I actually have door dashed in the Detroit market, and to be honest, it's way better than the one I currently reside in (I'm in Ohio but my bf lives outside of Detroit). After watching your video, I have been reminded that I DON'T want to work in an office slaving away all day to any business anymore! I'd like DD to be used as a stepping stone to start other side hustles/my own businesses. I did DD back in March - May of 2021 and made more in those months then I ever did at any other job. It's different now since people are going out more, but being in a bigger market especially where people have money definitely helps. I'm not too keen on the idea of living out of my car, but it's good to know that making 1k a week is possible in this market. Hope to see more videos soon!

I really appreciate your perspective. I live full-time in my camper, and I am stationary, but a traditional job is sucking my spirit dry. This may be an option. Thank you.

Omg I could totally see you being my friend, your personality is awesome, and I can see why you couldn’t be contained by an office building. I used to live in my car in the Bay Area, it was definitely an experience for me. I spent a year doing Uber (driving) and made more money than I’ve ever made for myself …the freedom you feel living like this is definitely unmatched. I had to take a break though due to depression and a couple of other factors out of my control

I'm glad you knew yourself well enough to take a break! I can't live the car lifestyle full time either anymore. I missed my family too much and it was not good for my mental health. I'm working on a good balance between car adventures and family time. I hope you've found balance now too and are happy with whatever you are up to now 😃 Thanks for watching! 🙏🏼

My car gets 35-45 mpg and I still barely get by with doordash and grubhub, it is fun though, you just have to be very consistent I’ve noticed and fill your tank before hand then really hit the road and take all offers

So inspirational. I do Uber eats sometimes with my 3 kids ages: 2, 11,15. So much work for not a good pay but have to provide for my family.

I’m glad you included all your expenses at the end a lot of people who make videos just assume they make all the money they receive 100% profit but they never show how much they used in gas and food costs and wear and tear on your cars. Great video keep up the good work

You have a great lifestyle, simple and on your terms. Spending beautiful days inside working can be soul crushing for many of us, so much better to be outside in the fresh air and sun closer to nature :)
