Living in the Country, by Pete Seeger

Here I play Pete Seeger's version of "Living in the Country." The syncopated use of the thumb as opposed to a more common alternating pattern on the beat is likely influenced by his admiration of Calypso music and everything he absorbed from his trips to Trinidad in the mid 50s.

Most of the good tone is in the player’s hands, like here. Although I believe Leo that Pete Seeger was an early influence, a recent bootleg tape of Bob Gibson has hit youtube, and I really heard some similarities in the use of passing chords and some substitutions. Just my own opinion. Very enjoyable hearing and seeing these videos. A real treat.

Great version. The sounds quality of the recording is so good, do you ever think about releasing an album? Love the videos, but would love to be able to listen the audio outside of KZbin as well!

Thank you Daniel. I have to say I’ve never considered recording for something for commercial release. I feel like the songs I play belong to others, I admire this music so much I can’t imagine anyone would prefer to listen to my playing over the original. There are a lot of websites you can use to download KZbin audio, or if you wanted just email me and I’d be happy to send you the audio, no cost of course.
