Good on ya, both of you, freedom of the outdoors, fair play doing it in a tent, my misses and i were part of the travelling community 30 years ago, we were labelled new age travellers but you only really travel during the festival season, most of the ttwe were static on a site somewhere. We lived in trailers/caravans and trucks mostly, done the picking season round Kent, Cornwall and Evesham for money and normally got a park up on the farm we worked on, sometimes in a tent. Crowboruogh Barracks near Tunbridge Wells was a huge site, biggest in Europe, parties galore, we live in a house now, had kids on the road but got a house to bring them up in, we didnt think it was fair dragging them around the country. All the best to the both of you. P.S. if you A frame that tarp itll shed the snow a lot easier bud 👍🏻

I'm doing that tonight . Were expecting 1 -1/4 of rain Thursday/ Friday. I have a teepee and wood stove setup and a Eureka Timberline 4 which I put a big tarp over it I use bungee cords between two trees with plenty of coverage .plus the timberline has a rainfly. I'm staying in the Eureka. Teepee ( polomy) is in rough shape. The zippers suck on tents . They need to start using military grade ones. We definitely need the rain !!! I have that same tent, I find in winter dropping the length of the poles so the gap between the floor and tent outer is smaller/touching the ground keeps the draft out
@loghoppersКүн бұрын
Bad idea, because we condensate, and then it'll freeze and you're sleeping in a freezer. That's why the Tarp is up, but yes... it's a good idea if a tarp is up and you're not condensed... thus, not going to freeze. It's not windy enough for us to drop it. The colder it gets... you need the air flow, but the windier it gets... lower it to stop the wind wrapping up underneath and possibly bending a pole or lifting you to space lmao. I get what you mean about going in a warm house, i used to be a market trader and in winter when i went home i used to sit outside in the cold for for a while. When i did go in i would feel like i was getting flu symptoms.✌
I’m sure you have your own way of doing things and I don’t know how you have the tent set up but have you considered a couple of thermal space blankets? They are basically silver foil plastic, they fold up very small and fit in your pocket. They would be great to have just loosely draped over you when you’re sat around or spread over your sleeping bags to keep that little extra bit of heat in. Also having a thermal mat like a yoga mat or the silver bubble wrap underneath you would make a massive difference keeping you warm. Stay safe and don’t be too stubborn if it’s that cold find somewhere to get indoors to warm up, there’s lots of places offering things like that.

New sub Just a thought all my tarps have loops,couldn't you just nake a loop straight up so your tarp is very taught in a tipi kind of shape
@loghoppersКүн бұрын
@oioi-skank548 Definitely yes in that situation... it could work. However, the tarp is good to keep the heavy snow and ice off the tent and if we were to condensate, we'd freeze . So the tarp is set up this way to give maximum coverage over the tent, so the tent will stay dry. The problem with icey snow, is that it bonds to the moisture and that stays frozen. In turn lifting the tarp will reduce the overall circumference of coverage allowing for that snowbomb to fall in our doors lol. Cheers for commenting and HAPPY HOPPING 👌🏼 👍🏼

Snow can insulate
@loghoppersКүн бұрын
@davidhartland8307 indeed, but is also heavy when in the tent we're in, or the tarp for that matter. But yes in another situation we'd definitely cash in on natural insulation. HAPPY HOPPING 👌🏼 👍🏼

If you had a choice to live in a house for free or the same tent, what would you choose? Please be honest.
@loghoppersКүн бұрын
@ceesmith Tent 100%. You could pay us 20 million tomorrow and we'd give it away in a heartbeat. We both gave up extremely good jobs, followed our hearts and choose this life for the rest of our lives. So many people people have lost touch with what's inside our DNA and we yern for the outdoors, nature and everything it encompasses, it runs in our vienes and is part of our soul. Also, we're 10+ years in, and won't stop till we drop lol. HAPPY HOPPING 👌🏼 👍🏼

'Camping in the cold' to me means you have to keep water in the sleeping bag with you to keep it liquid, and tent pegs stick to flesh when you're packing up... I dislike being cold - it's all about the right equipment.

When I’m camping it’s my nose that gets cold and wakes me up! Any tips?!
@loghoppersКүн бұрын
@thedubwhisperer2157 technically no, even with the best equipment we've seen people go cold and whilst trying to mimic indoors in the outdoors. Acclimation is our best choice 10+ years in. HAPPY HOPPING 👌🏼 👍🏼
@loghoppersКүн бұрын
@tinycroft1184 Yep, wear a woolly hat and scarf whilst sleeping... get too hot, pull it down or lift up. Can't breath... lift one or drop the other if that makes sense? Top tip.... don't breath into your bag to warm you up, the moisture build up will pay you back for it later. HAPPY HOPPING 👌🏼 👍🏼

Put something under the tarp to take the weight.
@loghoppers20 сағат бұрын
Can you not see the pole in the middle lol. Yeah, good idea. But the ice snow is super heavy and can build up very quickly adding alot of weight, this in turn will collapse the tarp or tear it. So best to keep it clear to save disaster recovery. HAPPY HOPPING 👌🏼 👍🏼

If the tarp was at a steeper angle it would shed some of the snow automatically. Stay warm guys.
@loghoppersКүн бұрын
@matthewbrookes6749 yeah, steeper angle we're all for but.... it would allow the snow or dripping wet moisture to cover more of the tent and thus the tent will free as opposed to the tarp. Not only that... I get a great view ever 30mins and warm up too if needed lol. So not all is lost or bad, it's an invigorating time to be had. HAPPY HOPPING 👌🏼 👍🏼

@Seeking_Gnosis He loves it and he's a German Shep. Seen him shiver only once in 5yrs. He paces in houses, hates indoors, doesn't settle until we're back home in our tent, then will finally settle or run about having fun in the forest. HAPPY HOPPING 👌🏼 👍🏼

@Seeking_Gnosis not to mention... if he was to ever get cold or wants soothing... he'll come between us, we open our bags and snuggle in and he knows we've super love for him, his freedom and quality of life... he's travelled everywhere around the UK 🇬🇧 and has seen, felt, experienced so many things. As your lives are at risk living in a tent at this time of year, is the local council not obliged to provide emergency accommodation? How are you able to generate power to charge batteries?
@loghoppersКүн бұрын
@battlebbot OK 👍🏼 We'll start here... please watch our videos and read our bio. We are not seeking help, house or any such bs.. we are very happy in our lifestyle and gave up VERY affluent jobs to live this way and be here in nature, in the cold, in the rain, in anything mother nature can and will throw at us. We love it!! Every minute of it!! It makes us feel human, connected and alive. Could pay us 20million tomorrow and we'd give it away just to continue our life this way. HAPPY HOPPING 👌🏼 👍🏼
