The Hunting Beast

Күн бұрын

Found this video in my archives unpublished... Its about 5 or 6 years old. At the time I decided not to release the full video so I wouldn't tip people off to what, or where I was hunting... And forgot all about this gem until re-discovering it just now... Enjoy!

Dan, Thank you for the GREAT videos and for uploading the Big Woods series...I gained alot of helpful info from them. Your videos are top-shelf and to be honest, about the only ones I watch with any regularity anymore. You pack them with reality and useful information instead of a hippie-type new-age hunter jumping around and yelling like they are on speed. Thanks for your work in these videos! And your patriotism only confirms you are the "real deal". Thank you Sir!

Dan i love how you are always teaching in every video. I swear if you never would have shared your information a lot of hunters would still be sitting in the big open hard woods im seeing more guys in the marsh .

Great video brotha. So I know you've used the Canon vixias to film your hunts. Wondering what specific model(s) you prefer. I just bought my 1st one it's a Canon vixia hf w11

Im not the greatest person to ask about cameras... Now, if it had antlers... lol... I just buy the newest one with the best features. They keep getting better. Both Cannon and Sony make great cameras. I prefer a mid range camera cause I ruin a lot of cameras hunting in rain and swamps and rugged country. I would buy a higher end camera if it was used buy a dedicated camera man.

Awesome information.. Trying to understand more about the set up you use. The back pack sticks and stands are going up in afternoon for immediate hunt. Do you take them down in dark or leave them for a second possible hunt a different day?

I noticed on a bunch of these that the wind looked like it was blowing from the bedding toward the woods instead of what we normally hear about how it blows up the tip toward the bedding. I know there’s not a lot of “rules” in hunting but any insights Dan on why you set up on those winds? Thanks.
@thehuntingbeast
@thehuntingbeast 2 жыл бұрын
Every scenario is different. But in marshes ans swamps, often the buck beds on points on any wind. IF its blowing down the top they are generally into the cattails or brush a bit, if its blowing from the point, often they are looking up the point smelling the brush behind. WHEN SETTING UP ON WINDS BLOWING DOWN POINTS, i set up on the just off wind, or in other words the down wind side or edge. How far up the point I set uyp has a lot to do with the exact wind direction.

What's your scent control regime besides playing the wind? Do you wash with anything, use scentlock etc? I've always smoked my hunting clothes and never had an issue but I'm curious to see what the Hunting Beast does!

your gear is awesome; but how can the average american dad who hunts for meat to provide for his family use your gear when the price tag is out of his reach? yes you get what you pay for, but if you really want to make a difference and inspire hunters, make gear that anyone can afford to help feed their kids. hawk gear is cheap and affordable but crap. i wish beast gear was more affordable for those of us who watch and learn so much from you and your videos.
@thehuntingbeast
@thehuntingbeast Жыл бұрын
Its really expensive to make anything in the USA cheap. period. We are always striving to make it more affordable, but there is an amount it costs to make it and it is what it is. No one ever said you have to use beast gear to kill deer. I started out poor and feeding a family. I used heavy steel stands and did what I could to silence them and make them portable. Y ou could do the same. But with that said, When you only buy one stand, and one stand is all you need. Its not really that expensive. What kind of bow you useing and how much does it cost? The stand we make is made in the same mannor as most bow risers and has more parts. If you can afford a modern compound bow you should have no problem affording a top end treestand. And a bow has a life span of about 5 or 6 years, the stand lasts a lifetime. I dont think most people cant afford it, I think they dont understand what it costs to make it and compare it to the cost of cheap Chinese crap. Regardless. I killed a lot of giant bucks with 30 pound steel stands and a pocket full of screw steps covered in electrical tape back in the 80s... It can be done without buying the best equipment.
