I see a lot of people bitching, pointing fingers at Kate as if they were there. You weren't there. What I saw was a woman aware of her status as a visitor and trying to use that "privilege" to get between an argument that could've gone south in a HUGE hurry. The other woman present seemed grateful for her help in pacifying the situation; there were scared children, men threatening each other... I don't care what color your skin is, when men start threatening violence, it's the women and children who wind up hurt the most. Did the elder seem to resent her? No. He said that she was very dear to them and that they would never forget her. So maybe chill with the hyper "wHiTe auDaCiTy" stuff and see one human trying to help other humans. All she does the entire film is praise their spirit, talk about how hardworking they are, and marvel at their independence. That's not racism, that's reverence. And you, watching this? Reading this? You wouldn't even know that these people exist if not for her taking the time and courage to show us. Maybe by her doing this, more of a light can be shone on the struggles that they endure... including the pressures to conform and settle. If they choose not to live like Europeans, then so be it -- they are in greater balance with their surroundings than we ever will be, and Kate appreciates that.

Whoa, you put in words, lots of them, of what I have in my mind after watching this documentary. You are right. People judge based on their perspective, from where they actually belong. I appreciate this documentary and we can't blame any of the people featured in it; not the nomads, neither the documentary crew.

I wholeheartedly applaud Kate and her crew for bringing stories like this to the public’s attention. She is respectful to ALL of the individuals involved - the nomadic tribe, as well as the settlers who are having their property damaged. While I understand Kate’s and others’ desire for the tribe to have the ability to remain true to their ancestral ways, I also understand that nomadic people are intensely disliked for good reasons. When people say that they hope that the tribe is able to continue their nomadic lifestyle and should be respected for their ways, people must realize that respect demands reciprocity. It doesn’t appear that the nomads have any respect for the settlers - they don’t ask for permission to camp on their land, damage their property, and are dismissive of the settlers’ legitimate concerns. Additionally, it’s absolutely understandable that the settled people would be upset that their taxes subsidize the nomads’ very existence and that the nomads are given privileges that are denied to those paying. I can’t imagine that all of the people who champion the nomads’ lifestyle, romantic though it may be, would tolerate a large group of strangers moving onto their property and squatting for an unknown period of time. As for a prediction as to their longevity as a nomadic tribe, I realistically don’t think it’s feasible. There are less than 150 people and they don’t intermingle with settlers; after several generations, they will be increasingly inbred, leading to health issues. I wish them well, though.

Have you ever met european gypsies? If so you wouldn't ask that question. They have no respect for the environment or the property and work of others. Hence they would use them at the place you give it to them and then trashit there when moving on, since simply cutting down trees at the new camp is easier than carrying extra luggage. I mean have you heard what they said themselves what usually makes them move on? One major reason was when they trashed a place so bad that the fresh water itself got bad... just think about what might cause that and what it means for the people permanently settled there. There is a reason why every settled community worldwide that is plagued with nomads hates them. It's just two too different worlds.

@@boahkeinbockmehr I'm sure you are correct; there will always be someone to hate, and someone else to hate them, and endless reasons why. Mostly I find myself just wanting to go home these days, where ever that Is? Surely this isn't it, my heart just doesn't seem to be here.

It’s not so much her as a person, in the other two videos she does quite well at keeping her opinions to herself. Overall this is an educational video and there are no issues in that (especially since everyone involved has agreed) but the problem comes when she starts to interfere and get involved in the disputes and such. It gives a white saviour appearance and unfortunately her being British really adds to that since not many people are fan of the Brits.

I would love to see a documentary on these people again but not with this woman as she is arrogant insensitive to there culture and feelings sticks her nose in when it's plain to see she's not wanted. She should find another job....
