I understand GM's play to have their own intergrated system, but everyone I know assumes CarPlay and Android Auto is standard and never use intergrated maps or systems. People just want to plug their phone and forget about it as we have big data plans these days. Also dealers are not upfront about it and people learn after the fact there isn't ACP or AA. My friend bought an Equinox EV not knowing there was no ACP and hates it just because of that.

Yup! Should be the standard across the board.

@@RubbelisPro People that are on board with GM will buy the car regardless, but people who couldn't figure why AA and ACP wasn't showing on the infotainment must be really pissed like my friend who after 30 min of trying learned that it didn't have it.

No AA is a dealbreaker for me nowadays. Google already knows more about me than I know about myself, I don't need GM harvesting all my data, too.

From my experience it’s not as big of a deal to folks in the dealerships shopping for these as it is to people online. Google built-in still does everything CarPlay/AA can. Take calls, answer texts, navigation, third party apps etc. The maps are integrated better for range and charging. People also forget how many new car buyers have never had CarPlay in the first place because they hang onto vehicles for 10+ years.

First 10 second impression, I really like that color! Vehicles with this design are the wagons of today. A lower roof-line with a long wheel-base. I really like the exterior design of this car.

Chevy needs to move past this era of Camaro-style HVAC vents across almost their entire product line. That combined with that blue on the dash is not a space I’d like spending extended time in.

Let’s see….My Equinox EV has a 319 mile range at 100%. My Camaro has just under 300 miles on a fuel tank. Every morning my Equinox has 260 miles available (I charge to 80% overnight). The Camaro has whatever is left when I park it. My Camaro takes about 5 minutes to fill up whenever I do need gas. The Equinox takes ZERO time because it’s charging at 3 am while I’m snoring. My Equinox costs 5 cents a mile to operate. My Camaro costs 16 cents per mile to operate. My Camaro oil changes (10 quarts) cost a bit over $100 each. My Equinox says “‘scuze me…what is this oil you speak of?” If I ever need to charge anywhere but home it would take about 35 minutes to get to about 80% charge from 10%. I haven’t had to in the 3 months I’ve had it and don’t see needing to do so anytime soon. When I road trip the Camaro, my gas stops typically take 15 - 30 minutes because I include bathroom breaks and food purchases. So, a similar stop with the Equinox might take a little longer the 2 - 4 times a year that I might choose to road trip it. While it’s charging I would be taking care of the bathroom and food issues then be good to go.

Just bought one and I really like it so far! Easy to drive, comfortable, and realistic/accurate range estimates. I absolutely miss CarPlay (should be a paid OTA upgrade if they really want to push their own system as the default) and I wish the A pillars didn’t obstruct the visibility so much. Other than that, it’s really a great crossover, and I’m very happy.

I'm trying my best to like the galaxy grey metallic but something about the mix of colors is off-putting. I think radiant red tint is easier on the eyes and more natural looking.

Can you review the Tesla model X? How comfortable it drives, is it a good family car, and its performance? It would make a good video!

When it comes to high horsepower EV vehicles, it's all software. If enough people petition manufacturers, they'll probably be able to enable multiple power modes that can be locked behind a password of some sort. Will that ever happen? We may never know lol I wonder if the car thought that its shadow was another vehicle when you were trying to do that auto lane change? 14:20

Jeep drivers trying not to be a menace on the roads challenge failed successfully. These mfkers really willing to test the limits of their insurance. It's funny to me how despite being European, having no interest in US daily cars market and you being the only US car reviewer I watch, as soon as you get into a modern GM vehicle, I already feel at home anyways, everything looks familiar at this point. 😅These supercruise steering wheels just look pretty damn cool, what else can I say. 🤷‍♀I always await the pink LEDs to light up. The paint looked really pretty too when some sunrays hit it, that pink hue you mentioned was visible pretty well.

I find it interesting that people are jumping off the roof about GM not having CarPlay and Android Auto on their EVs. Meantime, Tesla sells about a million cars a year and has never had CarPlay or Android Auto and most people don’t care. Owning both, I can say that GM’s infotainment is actually better than Tesla’s EXCEPT that with Tesla, we can watch Netflix or KZbin on the center screen while the vehicle is parked, like when it’s charging.

@tedward or anyone. I’m 19 and I’m wondering how much you choose to spend on your cars? I am currently not financially stable but once I am I’d really like to own a car I am passionate about but I’m not sure how much to spend on one. Could you offer any personal experience or advice?

My rule was weird 😂. If I could afford the price twice in cash I’d buy it. So if a car was 20k I had to have 40k in the bank.

I still don't get the EV thing. It's not any more eco friendly when you think about the manufacturing of the batteries and how the electricity is being made, the range isn't nearly as good as a ICE car and they take a while to charge. They are quick though so there is that.
@TedwardDrives

Gotta show your work on this one. That’s sort of a misinformation talking point especially when it comes to “where the power is coming from”. Even if the power is coming from coal power plants, it’s still far more efficient than an engine. Not advocating for electric cars but it’s getting tired seeing unfounded talking points like this. Unfortunately perception or belief is above factual thermodynamics for most people. Charging anywhere but home is a complete pain which is why I don’t own one.

Yeah but to build an ev it harms the environment a bunch because the production of ev batteries is a dirty process. And they only last 10-15 years anyway
@malthumb
@malthumb 2 күн бұрын
@sebjebofficial6230 So easily proven false. Let’s start with the mines where the minerals to produce EV batteries come from. What were those mines doing before the minerals started to be used in EV batteries. They were mining those same minerals for other uses INCLUDING minerals used in the manufacture of catalytic converters and other components of ICE cars. Let’s also start with the fact that hybrids and EVs have been on the road for more than the 10-15 years that you seem to think batteries last. What is the replacement rate for batteries powering those vehicles? It’s less than 2%. Failure rates for engines is significantly higher. Not that they are bad or anything (I’m a retired Powertrain engineer) but because they operate in an environment of constant friction. Friction wears out parts. Worn parts fail. Batteries have no friction parts and do not share that particular failure mode. If not properly maintained they can experience reduced charge capacity over time. So after 10-15 years, a 100 kWh battery might only be able to charge to 70 kWh, but they would still be functional.

I still don't think mining for EV batteries is cleaner than making a ICE car. And we don't have the infrastructural power to support a total switch to EV cars. California is struggling to power their ev cars already. Lithium ion is also a limited resource from what I know but I'm properly wrong on that. I think hydrogen and diesels are the future and that the EV push will die off like other pushes to "save the planet"

This one seems to be quite a reasonable EV. I don't get it, why carmakers, while promoting EVs as a supposedly a way to reduce impact on climate change, then present us the overpriced, overpowered enormous heavyweight monsters, which a cumbersome to drive in a city, because they're big, not really suitable for long stretches, because they're too powerful and too heavy to produce any significant amount of range, cost a fortune to buy and even more to maintain. While the real killer would be a compact, moderately powered city-friendly car, which will cost comparable to typical petrol-powered cars. Equinox ticks those boxes, with some fiddling of course, but still this is the way to properly introduce EVs, at least until we get proper energy-storing tech.
