This episode is a great example of why the DIY builds are often my favourites. When people build their own homes, they often include quirky and unique features which you seldom see in builder-model homes. Thomas and Caroline have constructed something very special here and we hope you enjoy the tour of their tiny house! With love, Bryce & Rasa

@sarahrigby75802 жыл бұрын
Hi Cherry, I have a similar issue to you in that I’m disabled, I’m a wheelchair user and I have limited function in my upper body and chronic fatigue, and once you’ve accounted for wheelchair manoeuvring space, hoists, rails, storage for all the extra stuff I have to have, a standard tiny home is an impossible dream. I am sorry for your loss, btw. I don’t usually say that to other disabled people as there’s nothing wrong with being disabled, but when you acquire a disability, it is a huge adjustment and loss, yours more so than most, and it takes time and support to readjust to it. A compact, well-designed home would be ideal for many disabled people as it would be far easier to have things within easy reach so there’s definitely a gap in the market people are missing there. If I spot any other accessible tiny house videos or similar, I’ll leave you a reply here. I don’t know which country you’re in, but I’m in the UK and there was recently a two-part celebrity-fronted travelogue on tv on van life in the USA and how it is expanding to other places too. Presented by Su Perkins, she had her own hired van and went and met various people and their vans, some of which were definitely more like tiny homes and some were converted school buses. Her last stop was at a van-life festival where she met a young woman in her early twenties who had just finished converting a school bus so that she and her brother could go travelling without needing any other accommodation. This had been a dream for years but then her brother fell out of a hammock and broke his neck and is now paralysed. She used a school bus with a wheelchair lift already on it and had built everything around his access and his needs. The bathroom, for instance, closed at both sides, blocking the width of the bus, to give an accessible bathroom with shower chair etc. I wonder if they’re on Instagram? If you can’t access the program and can’t find them, I can rewatch it to get their names if you’d like? Good luck with your tiny house dreams. I think it’s doable. And yes, this was one of my absolute favourite tiny houses featured: just so well done and thought out. Future-proofed (to an extent), airy feeling, easy to use…. better than most non-tiny houses! Really in awe of the excellent work. Congratulations. Sarah

As one who built my own home, I really appreciate the sentiment and memories ingrained in this very beautiful home. Bryce, your channel remains my favorite source for tiny living inspiration - and since I am not alone in that, and you have such a huge following, I encourage you to devote some videos to the very important topics of material selections, insulation, moisture management and indoor air quality. These building science topics are important in all buildings, but none more so than in smaller homes. Folks who set out with the best of intentions for reducing their footprint can so easily sabotage themselves if they don't incorporate the correct building science strategies. It may not be rocket science, but it is critical science!

This is a great story and couple. I built an off grid home but never finished it. It was more of an experiment. This is th way to do It! Have a plan, a budget and confidence ,(a loving supportive partner doesn't hurt) and you wind with something beautiful and affordable. Great Job!

Their French accent only brings warmth to this beautiful home. He’s shy but decided and kept a high standard and “reusable concept” for the project. Usually people opt for the easy way. They should trade market this design, mostly because is out of grid. Outside shower it’s a must! Thank you et félicitation.

Beautiful and functional. And I love that they future-proofed it -- something a lot of young couples seem to neglect

This is very well conceived and beautifully executed. It's always immensely freeing to have the 3m width rather than the 2.5m, it may not seem like much but both ergonomically and with regard to design options it really changes everything. These smart people really made the most of it, a great achievement! 🙂

Exactly! I'm not sure how .6 of a metre can make such a difference, but it certainly does.

Permaculture! Oh yes! The creativity of that idea to reclaim all your water and to have literally a bathtub to be able to use underneath your shower! oh my gosh! That removable step from the staircase that acts like a chair as needed! There's just not enough!!!!! for the creativity you guys show in this build. 🤯 Wow I wish I could have you for my architect for my tiny home!

Hello Wendy How are you doing right now? I'm really much impressed about your personalities. I also admire your good sense of humor on here. I don't normally write in the comment section, but I think you deserve this complement....I'll like to be your friend if you don't mind

Love Thomas & Caroline's beautiful home, my favorite I think is all that beautiful wood, with all the windows!.. I think they have the right idea, we all need to start our own gardens, with the chickens for fresh eggs etc. 🥚 Smart, tiny living!! 🙌
