Comparing food and drugs, a person can stay away from drugs and alcohol, can't stop eating. I'm dealing with eating disorders. I am glad I have you to reinforce correct food decisions

I recently started getting food stamps. I get plenty for myself and actually some extra. I am not frivolous with them, still shop sales and discount stores. I'm not a big soda drinker, but still don't use my snap card to buy it when I do, I pay cash. I've been able to stock up a little on basic needs and am greatful for what I have and make it a big point not to waste anything.

I’ve noticed the same at Walmart . Also , the rebate apps have been great. I have been getting free or almost free food, drinks and personal care items . I’ve learned by watching coupon shows on KZbin. One of my most used recipes of yours is the pancake recipe. I like to premix when I have time and taped the recipe to the container. Certainly a good way to save.

I make iced tea every other day, 2 quarts using tap water, 2 family size tea bags, 4 teaspoons of Pyure (zero calorie sweetener) and 2 squirts of bottled lemon juice. I drink 1 quart of iced tea daily, then however much water I can. I do keep a bottle of ginger ale just incase I am ill. Even when I was restricted to just $20 weekly, I was well fed. I think that people want to hear you agree with their perspective that food (especially junk food) has gone up so that they can't afford it, and not the truth that they are buying stuff that isn't necessary for good meals, eating leftovers, and cutting portions.

Jill, I have always set out fruit or veggies for grabbing just before dinner. Like you said, the kids get hungry and mine would polish off a veggie tray very quickly. They still eat very well to this day.

I went to Walmart the other day and when I got home and looked at my receipt I saw that I was charged twice for something I only bought one of. You talk about a hassle trying to get it taken care of at customer service the next time I went in. It definitely taught me I'm going to be a lot more careful when my things are being wrung up.

That is the reason I like to check myself out at Walmart. At Kroger, if the item rings up wrong, I have no problem going back and getting a refund. It does happen often at Kroger, but they know me and are always very friendly. Heck, I go back for a quarter...it all adds up!!! Thanks for your tips!

Im a bargain shopper and I am a mark down shopper. that 25% has stopped a lot of people from buying healthy food. I used to be an extreme couponer but most coupons even today are useless and for junk. things have changed and people's health is paying for it because trash food is what you find most days on markdown or even unusable food. I rarely eat out but some days like today fast-food apps pay off lunch was 3 dollars after being stuck at a dr apt

The siren song of sugar is loud and insistent. The more sugar you eat the more you crave. It's a metabolic fact. One can get used to eating less sugar and that will stave off those sugar crashes which can spur those addictive-like cravings. If we all decided to use sugar more sparingly our bodies would thank us, and it would fatten our wallets as well.

Barter with people helps too for food. I have a side yard with sun. New neighbors have no sun and three little girls. I offered my side yard as garden space for them in return for vegetables. I keep garden watered and help where I can with pinched nerves in my spine. Living the fresh little tomatoes and herbs so far this year.

I was out of town for this. I find myself more and more dumping the sites that have long directions or crazy ingredients. I have been investing on growing my own and considering a high tunnel and growing what I can indoors (grow bags and pots) to avoid as many chemicals as possible. I have about a half acre and no HMO in this small Midwest town. Then dehydrate and can. I have a small chest freezer but it will require electricity and they are trying to get Illinois to go "smart". I know it is so they can control our thermostats. I keep my inside temps 70 in winter and 75 in summer due to health issues (born with asthma) which is not quite as warm as I want in winter or cool as I want in summer. I will be adding chickens to my homestead next week. And I would love to follow you around everywhere to hear what you have to say.

I agree with cutting back on portions sizes. Eating food the way God made it is best for me. I don’t drink juice because I prefer to eat the fruit instead. Most of the packaged foods have a long shelf life because they put preservatives in them. Some of those preservatives our body doesn’t even recognize. We must realize we carry the responsibility for our health and well being. Good food that we make taste great and the left overs even better

We used Tom cat poison kit you can find at walmart and home depot. They worked for clearing up our mouse issue. And we had a major one outside due to yard not getting cut like we had in the past. You could be standing there and they come right out like they were going to come up to you. SO gross!!!! where we live if you have a mouse or rat problem you also you will find alot of snakes, some snakes are good but we get copperheads. We let the non-venomous ones live.

Sadly, that's more of a choice than not. Here, the food bank offers cooking and prep classes, free child care during the classes, and extra credit to use in the pantry, and they usually only have one or two attend.

We lived in a place where we had a lot of mice that were hard to get rid of and we bought cubed.warfarin rat poison and we threw those underneath the house and in places like behind the washer and stove where pets and kids can't get to and they were all gone in a week. We only put out about 6 cubes and no more mice.

I have never found anything cheaper at a farmers market. I HAVE however, seen “farmers” sell onions for $3-4 a pound that still had the store sticker on it!! And the store was selling them for $1 or so per pound!! They were trying to pass it off as they grew it with their lettuce.. so dishonest

I don't think I've ever seen cans of green chillies in Australia. I've looked online & I can't see it on any of our stores. Could you show us a can of it sometime so we Aussies can see it to look for something similar. Yes, I remember only having soda, chips & chocolate for birthdays, Easter & Christmas & never had them at other times. I hope Wanda can get rid of those pesky mice! 🥰 Blessings from South Australia💕🐨

As for recipes in the books we like... Vol 1 is my favorite cookbook. I say it all the time, granola bars and snickerdoodles are my go to snacks when our son comes over or my husband needs a treat to share at work. I always have those ingredients. But the other day I was flipping through and came to Garlic Salad. I totally forgot about that one. It is SO good! Celery, carrots, garlic and mayo. It is a treat for a summer picnic, BBQ whatever. I will be making that again soon. Just flip through your book, you will find some great favorites of your own.

A long time ago prices in Norway were frighteningly high when you converted them to dollars. Higher than even Swedish prices, Danish prices. Nowadays things have settled down and at least for now, the cost of groceries has become almost parity to US, at least in areas with a higher cost-of-living . Blame it on the rise and fall of exchange rates, cheaper food imports, inflation, who knows. A friend went there recently and took pictures of supermarket shelves as proof that it's not as bad as we remembered it to be, so maybe $10 for regular sugar was true when you were there but not anymore.

If you are addicted to it don’t eat it. I worked nights and one of my coworkers (years ago) brought in a huge tub of twirlers…. Ladies.. I saw that if I had one or two I just wanted to keep eating them.. so since I couldn’t just stop at 2 I just stopped eating them.. problem solved. HaHa When my son was a toddler I was a single mom and got food stamps for a year. They gave me $293 each month. I shopped sales and never spent more than $100 a month for us to eat. Those food stamps never expired so we ate well for way longer than one yr. Same with my electric bill… I got $688 a year towards my power bill… I watched our usage and it lasted me a full year verses 8 months it was meant to..

The amount of people using mobility devices and are very overweight is shocking. This is since COVID. One male who can walk with crutches etc but moaned about carrying shopping and uses an electric wheelchair as a result. He is rude, expects others to run around him and doesn’t listen. He goes to a local church, probably going to hell and I avoid him as much as possible. I have used crutches for over 9 years, I always try to say thank you and be nice - it pays to be nice.
