When I have a difficult pan to wash, I remember what my 1st mother in law said. I put water in pan with or without soap & put it back on stove & turn burner back on. When it boils, I use a spatula to lossen up what’s not coming out. I also do this when I’m making gravy out of pan drippings. Same principle.

I was a Dawn purest for years. I wash my dishes by hand. I have a dish washer but I don’t use it much. I could tell that they changed the formula on Dawn because I kept having to use more and more and it still wasn’t doing the job. I found a bottle of Palmolive Oxi on clearance at Dollar General and tried it. I love it!! I only have to use a small amount in my dishwater and it suds up and cuts the grease so I’m sold! Also people just don’t seem to grasp the fact that using very hot water in dirty pans with a drop of detergent and letting it soak for a bit will do the trick. You don’t need any special cleaners. I even wash my counters and stove with my clean dish water before I put my dishes in. I don’t buy any special cleaners. People spend way too much money on cleaners.

My sister gave me a kit of Dawn Powerwash. I detest the smell and see no difference in its cleaning power. I thought maybe my well water had changed as I was using more and more Dawn. Last week I found two bottles of Dawn Original in my basement. Too bad they were small bottles. Nope, not my water! One squirt did the job! Over 50 years ago an elderly neighbor shared -- when food sticks or burns to the pan, sprinkle a little table salt, add water and bring to a boil on the stove--food will literally lift right off. Works like a charm!

Why scrub when you can let your stove do the work for you? You don't have to scrub, just put the pan with a little bit of soapy water on a burner of your choice and put it on low for several minutes until starts boiling Then take a spatula and see what boiled loose, it should come clean right away Another trick to prevent stock on food is start cooking on LOWER heat, EVEN if it takes LONGER It may take longer but it's well worth it and even better for your burners since they'll LAST even LONGER If you're cooking and food starts sticking, use a little bit of butter around the edges and work it loose with a spatula I use these tricks because I learned over time what works and what don't

I like the regular Dawn dish detergent, or an equivalent, for cleaning greasy cookware. Remember, this is what is used to clean fowl and wildlife after oil spills. It is also part of the formula (Dawn, baking soda, and hydrogen peroxide) recommended for cleaning pets if they are sprayed by a skunk because the skunk spray is oil based. I never use the straight stainless steel pads on anything, even my good stainless steel pans; I will use those soap pads occasionally. You can also use rolled up aluminum foil to clean stainless or other metal cookware. Bon Ami or Bar Keepers Friend powders keep stainless steel looking beautiful, especially if you hang your nice cookware on a pot rack. I use them with a soft pad, inside and out of the pan, after I have cleaned them. Rinse with hot water and dry with a dish towel. 🥰

Since I've gotten better cookware over the years, I know what you mean by not wanting to use abrasion I don't know if you ever had a Copper Chef Electric skillet, or even permanently seasoned colored cast iron, but those are items you really want to be careful with I've even used another type of pan that stains easily, and it's one of those with a white ceramic lining Even cooking something like an egg on the lowest possible setting makes the white lining stain, but there's only 1 way you can get that stain out To get the stain out, put a little bit of soapy water in the bottom of the pan, turn the burner on LOW for a few minutes and then gently scrub it and the stain comes out, leaving the lining looking LIKE NEW again

Instead of scrubbing that pan, I found 2 other tricks that actually work One is to put a little bit of soap and water in the bottom of your pan and put it on LOW for a few minutes or so The stuck on stuff should come right off with the gentle sweep of a brush in the soapy water The other trick I found is while you're cooking and something starts sticking, add a little bit of butter and unstick it as you go with a spatula Prevention is cooking on LOWER heat.... It may take longer, but it lowers the risk of stuck on food 🎊🥳🎉

One thing to be aware of though is if you have a white lining in that pan, it stains very easily despite cooking on the lowest possible heat for even so much as an egg I found that the only way to get that stain out of a perfectly clean pan is to put a little bit of soapy water in that pan, put it on low on the burner for a few minutes or so and let the heat take care of it Then a few minutes later you should be able to take something like a small angled bottle brush and gently sweep the bottom of the pan I found that my white ceramic lined pan LOOKS LIKE NEW again

Someone recommended it for laundry stains and it DOES work great for that! 😂 But I started using it to wipe down grease on my stove after cooking. It works pretty well for that but, yes, it leaves a lot of streaks! Using rubbing alcohol for cleaning things works very well. I like the dawn power wash spray, but I have extreme difficulty working the trigger because my hands are crippled with arthritis. I called the company and told them about this that they needed to redesign the trigger to have a longer surface area to give you the physics that you need to get the strength to pull it. They were very nice and compensated me accordingly. I said to the customer service rep that I could really see how this would be a great product for men how they would love it and I was told that the majority of the colors to the consumer line are men who use the product and really enjoy it. I think it's just easier to spray wipe rinse and go then loading up a dishpan with water. I can also see how this would be a great product in a place where washing dishes is not easy or possible and where water is in short supply, maybe like even a camping scenario. It's too expensive to make it an everyday dish soap. Everyone's cooking and eating habits hence their amount of soil and grease on the dishes varies. I think if you find something that works for you just use what works for you and be happy.

I did a couple tests and now use an old foaming bottle from hand soap and use warm water with a couple tablespoons of Dawn. I have to let it sit a while to get the right foam when pumped. I even found that Palmolive leaves less residue, but not crazy for it’s scent. Straight Dawn to clean chicken fat from a pan works well, not so much the Palmolive. As an aside, the little shelves in your kitchen are so very pretty!

I found a sprayer nozzle last year on amazon that you can add to any spray bottle and it makes your cleaner foam!! It works great because it makes the cleaner kind of stick on a little bit better and it seems to use less of the cleaner too. I actually delete my cleaner with a little bit of water anyways. And my cleaner is usually blue dishwashing soap generic from walmart with water. If I need serious disinfect and a little bit of bleach too.

Mr, Clean Clean Freak is not designed nor advertised to be used on dishes. I don’t like Dawn as I’ve always found it to be brutal on my hands. I think how hard your water is also impacts how effective a brand of dish soap or laundry detergent is.

My mom used Ivory dish soap when I was growing up. She didn't buy any of those specialty cleaners for the kitchen. Comet was used for the bathrooms, and wood oil/polish for the furniture. She dusted the house with a damp rag and nothing else. I use either Palmolive or Mrs. Meyers dish soap, and I do have antibacterial cleaners for the kitchen and bathroom, as well as wood oil/polish for the furniture.

I had the exact same experience. My friends and a family member swore by the Dawn Power Wash. Fool that I was, I bought a massive amount at Costco. I hadn’t even tried it.😅 I used on my scrambled eggs pan like you. Same experience. It did nothing except ruin the non stick surface of my ceramic pan. It’s never been the same. The fumes when I sprayed it made me cough like I was using oven cleaner. I donated it. I went back to my good old hot water and dish soap. Thanks for making me realize I’m not crazy.

Thank you for testing everything for us! I love regular blue Dawn. Mrs.Meyers & 7th generation soap is pretty good too. I very tiny amounts of rubbing alcohol for glass &surfaces i want to shine. I was a housekeeper, kennel attendant & have plenty of other jobs that require a lot of cleaning & Dawn is where it's at for cleaning , bleach for disinfecting. The scrapey thing is an AMAZING tool in the kitchen & is great at scraping nasty stuff off of counters as well. I think people just like convenience & are definitely very susceptible to advertising.

I soak frying pan with just squirt of dish soap ( Ecos from walmart has no SLS)...sometimes overnight or whenever I check for crud to soften. Pour water out and wipe clean with paper towel. If there's still residue I sprinkle baking soda and scrub with my little square of stainless steel chainmail. Best purchase ever, chainmail cleans it all!

The best and cheapest thing I've found for burnt on grease is water and baking soda. Chemical free! I cleaned my yucky stove where I just moved in a few months back and it was left gunky with grease! On the worst parts I just made a paste with water and baking soda and let it sit for 10 minutes and then scrubbed with a scrubber that is for non-stick pans so it wasn't scratchy. I think this mixture is a miracle! LOL AND Cheap! I always wonder why some people don't also clean the bottom of their pans. Maybe I am too OCD and raised by a narcotic mother! FACT! LOL

After I scrub a pan clean, I use a soapy sponge to wash the entire pan. I was concerned that she didn't seem to be doing that. I also rinse the pan very well so there is no soap residue. Just because we are concerned with doing a thorough job, and some others don't, we shouldn't criticize ourselves with labels that suggest we are mentally ill. I grew up in the 50's, when the standards of cleanliness seemed higher.

Living on a Dime's aha! moment of "They love the shine!" seems silly, then I remembered the common phrase "clean and shiny." With that running in the background of your mind, shiny EQUALS clean, right? And I totally agree that companies sell feeling good and perceived convenience. People who never learned about the soak 5 minutes trick now carefully follow the directions to Let Soak a few minutes.

I never knew clean freak was for dishes??? I've used it on regular cleaning. I still love Dawn Powerwash or Dollar Tree Brillo, both work so well for me for getting through the stuck on food, especially in my ceramic crock pots, dried on dishes hubs left in sink. None of these products I would waste time with on my glass top stove, always smeared the top, the pink stuff from Dollar Tree works for me or 1.25, scrub Mommy rough side to clean, soft to wipe any excess, wipe with dish or paper towel. I also like my really "expensive" Scrub Mommy, it lasts forever, flexible in those nooks and crannies and stays nice looking as well not all grungy and pilled, falling apart. That being said, I am not a hand dish person, dishwasher is my jam. I spray the hard to clean dish, leave it sit while I get dinner put away, table & counters wiped, so its longer than 4 minutes. Love the spray nozzle and how it distributes the product on Dawn, the flimsy brillo bottle, not so much. Was very put off when you and your mate started implying we are all idiots sucked in by a good TV commercial or rubbing alcohol shine?? Ah, no, I simply like these products and use them in a different purpose than just regular hand washing dishes, I do like Walmart ultra for that. Home made powerwash, huge waste of time for me, I have too much to do at night and it doesn't work as well and if I can go to dollar tree and get a brillo brand, fill my dawn bottle, for only 1.25. B-o-o-m, 5 minutes saved, off to my next cleaning task after long work day, I'm a one woman show in this house for cleaning. BTW, I rarely have.the massive burn on my pans to scrub, seems like whomever is burning the dishes you tested needs a few cooking videos on using stainless cookware and calm down on the high heat in these pans.

Boil a fairly thin layer of water in the pan, use a soap dispensing handle scourer and the job is done in seconds! The magic that lifts the burnt food stuck on the pan is the boiling hot water, not the particular soap formula. If there's a lot of muck, rinse and repeat.

Love my Dawn and haven't had good luck with the Power Wash. The Brillo does work better but still not great. I think the baking soda does most of the work. When I get something stuck on badly I just wet it and sprinkle baking soda on and let it sit a few. You can see the burned on stuff lifting off. But now lets talk about that nonstick pan with the eggs. Those eggs should not have stuck that badly. When you washed it you could see all the scratches in it. Just toss it and get a new one. You can afford it now because you aren't buying all the fancy cleaners that don't work.

Instead of scrubbing, try this, it actually works Put the pan on the burner with a little bit of soap and water Put it on low for a few minutes and then take a tool and clean the bottom, it should come clean Another trick is use a little bit of butter while cooking If something starts sticking and workil it loose with a spatula Prevention is cooking on LOWER heat It takes longer, but well worth it

My 34yr old Son really like the Dawn Spray. He does let it set for a while. He fills the sink with dishes. Srays away. He moves the bottle around more than just direct spots. He goes and plays with his 2yr old Son and then puts him to bed and goes back to the dishes. He says it is great.

We use Ajax dish soap mostly because it's cheap and effective. I refill my old hand soap foamers with a 1/4 dish soap, fill with water, give it a good shake to mix, and use it to pre-treat or to quick wash dishes/pans. We've tried the powerwash, too. It's okay... but I actually find it has too much fragrance for me.

Have been refilling a DPW spray bottle for awhile with watered down dish soap. I like the way it sprays, which is better than other spray bottles I have tried over time. For most things that I hand wash I spritz the rag and wipe the item clean. For very stuck items, I spritz the item itself and give it about 10 min before wiping.
