LOVE Oaxaca!!! This will be our 5th year of spending the Winter there. We stay in Jalatlaco and adore it! Oaxaca is our favorite place in all of Mexico and we have traveled pretty extensively. This year we will be there for Día de Muertos and really look forward to it. Thanks SO much for sharing these wonderful videos. I am so familiar with many of the places you shared. Makes me hungry to return…

Hi Jim, Thanks for the great content you put out! It is very much appreciated! I am searching for a town/city that has a moderate cool climate and or a beach town where the cost of living and real estate are still affordable. Other than the obvious expat destinations, do you have any suggestions?

How do you secure your accommodations. I am not seeing many Airbnb’s in Jalatlaco nor in Barrio de Xochimilco area for a long 2025 winter stay. Thanks for the great informative tour.

Kind of an odd question, but I'm hoping you can help me out. Seems like a lot of Oaxaca living spaces are open air, which appeals to me. I'm very sensitive to mold and poor air quality. Do you think this would be a good place to consider traveling? Thanks!

Understandable but misleading mistake: referring to the "aquifer" when you really mean the "aqueduct". The latter is the 18th century system which brought water from San Felipe to the city center, while the former refers to an underground recharge zone serving as an underground reservoir. As a part-time resident of Xochimilco for more than 50 years I would ask you to please frequent other parts of the city instead.

Beautiful neighbourhoods !! Are there lots of foreigners (Non-Mexicans) in these areas ? It would be good to know whether new arrivals from USA/Canada/Europe can expect a good community of support for those first few months or years.

I was 3 weeks ago, and I saw a lot of foreigners.. everybody is super comfortable speaking in simple Spanish. There are a lot of French people also.. if you stayed close to the center (central zocalo), you would be good.

“This is right near where I’m staying” which you said a number of times, doesn’t help me much mate. I don’t know where you’re staying so that makes your explanation of knowing what area of town you’re in rather useless.

Sir, you mentioned “yoga” as a choice on what to do on your patio. Sir , you have some “age” and you really need to ponder on where you’re going to spend eternity when you die. Your soul will still exist either in hell or heaven. Believing the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ is our Way, not the paganism of other world religions. There’s been only one empty tomb and that was in Jerusalem. Jesus said, I am THE Way, THE Truth and THE Life. NO ONE cometh to The Father but by Me. Notice He didn’t say I am “A” way etc…. Yoga and world religions will guarantee you hell. Trusting in JESUS’ death burial and resurrection will bring you to heaven. You now know the gospel. Please do not reject it. If I’m wrong , then we all perish anyway. If I’m right(which I am) then you’ll spend eternity in hell, separated from God. The decision is now yours to make. There’s a wonderful church near you in El Abonado near the airport La Iglesia Bautista Fundamental de Oaxaca. Please speak with pastor Leo there. Dios le bendiga!
