I used to listen to some of his lectures and not think about them. But I’m finding he had great insight into human nature.

This is such a powerful lecture. He was a very decent man, I wish I could’ve met him. What a fortune these series are. You’re really helping many of us, by providing us with a voice of reason.

Based on my 49+ years of life experience, I can say with certain clarity that bad habits/attitudes can be a real challenge to overcome. Some people may be gifted in being able to switch something in their mind and move on with life. I can't speak for everyone but I can tell you for a fact that I am certainly not one of those people. 😉 If one allows certain negative attitudes/habits to take root in ones mind/life, over time, they can be a real challenge in removing them from ones life/mindset. Anyone who has tried to break a bad habit, regardless of what it may be, can testify to the fact that it is by far one of the most difficult things to do. Now I am not saying impossible, though it may feel that way, just difficult. It can be done. However like Mr Hall clearly states its not something that can take root in a moment of clarity. t takes time and it is different from one person to the next. Life experiences are meant to help us grow. Both good and bad. While we wish we only had good life experiences. Now, i could be mistaken but I dont feel that bad life experiences were meant to destroy us. We just tend to allow them to do so by not seeing these situations as learning experiences. Opportunities to learn from/grow as human beings. “There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.” - William Shakespeare; Hamlet, Act II, Scene 2 .

This seems especially pungent today, as Manly P. only had the awareness of the tv corrupting our minds. I wonder what he would say about the constant hip attachment, the cell phone. It seems even harder to gain this attentiveness he speaks of, though we should all try our best day by day, and eventually may we achieve what we’ve all been seeking.
@giftedmisfit1052 жыл бұрын
**poignant
@SizzlingToast2 жыл бұрын
@@giftedmisfit105 respectfully disagree...both can be used. However, I prefer pungent as I am comparing manly's poetic speech to a strong odor filling the nostrils of all who are near (even using the secondary definition works just as well, though I prefer the first). Also, poignant is a synonym of pungent and is, well, different in many regards, especially in tone, so there is no mistake in my wording, it is a subjective choice, not one of grammatical error.

@sizzlingtoast if no one is going to understand the way you intend it what’s the point of using your subjective definition? Also poignant and pungent are not synonyms by any measure, grammatically.
@SizzlingToast Жыл бұрын
@@NameboGonzalez google search “is pungent a synonym for poignant?” And you’ll find that answer is a resounding yes !! Interesting to comment so confidently in something you’re so incorrect about on multiple levels. Further, every sentence is a subjective definition that is then interpreted. There’s a whole study of thought based on the premises that nobody fully understands what the other means. Think about it, and don’t be so fast to comment on things you know little about, it only hurts you. Have a lovely day
