You are an absolute wizard with the bass. The depth of your insight and knowledge about fish behavior, and how to catch them... Each post, you show what it's lie to be fully attuned. And you seem to have x-ray vision, being able to sight-fish in green water Alabama lakes. It's a blast watching you fish, with such effortless mastery.

You guys really inspire me. I am shocked at the hogs you pull in. I have really started to get into fishing creeks here in Alabama. I love catching wild stocks that no one else is likely to catch. I am a dual major engineering student and I am thinking about working on custom lures. I was in the process of building a 5-axis CNC and a 3D printer when I was burglarized and my materials were stolen. Once I get my CNC and 3D printer projects back on track, I hope to use cad to design and print and/or mill custom lures that are more environmentally friendly. Hopefully I can swing a few your way once I get prototypes. I know that you have the knowledge to put them to good use. Keep on keeping on. You're awesome.

Let them run with it a little bit longer they won't spit it out I promise and don't set the hook quite as hard. Set the hook like your using a crank bait... I hope that helps, y'all have taught me so much...

It takes even a lurker bass about 30 seconds or longer to turn a big baitfish in their mouths to a headfirst position. It’s hard to delay setting the hook that long but it’s necessary to get a hook in one.

My buddy's folks had a farm pond in southern Ohio jammed full of those big bullhead bluegill and sunfish. Those things are all muscle and fight like mad for their size. You get on a bunch of those ravenous little psychos and that's fun fishing, especially if you have kids or first timers with you.
@jacobcumm86457 жыл бұрын
When you're fishing with those big live baits for bass you should hook the bait in the nose from nostril to nostril. You will improve your hook-up ratio, abality to cast, and when you pull the bait through the water it travels head first.

Great video. Hey, I have decades of experience with live golden shiners for trophy bass in Florida. ( I also fish lures just as often.) You should keep a pack of 4/0 KAHLE hooks handy ( also known simply as shiner hooks ). ALSO: I understand shiners tend to swim more freely if hooked through the back when free-lining them, but I've learned through trial & error, if ya hook your shiner through the roof of its mouth between the nostrils ( it's very tough cartilage in that area, no need to hook through the lower lip too, and the shiner will live longer ) YOU WILL HAVE A BETTER HOOK-UP RATIO because the bass almost always takes the shiner head first, ESPECIALLY shiners as large as the one you were using. On larger baits, ya may have to let the bass take it a little longer, because they will often "de-scale" a large baitfish by mouthing it or even spitting it out only to inhale it again very quickly. It causes a lot of missed fish, but hooking in the mouth of the bait really helps your odds, and the kahle hooks really do work better vs any other hook style, regardless of where ya hook these large baitfish. I am absolutely convinced of that. Tight lines.
