Hey bamabass, great vid. I'm 53 years old . I grew up salt water fishing but gave it up. My son got me into fresh water fishing in 2015. I started out fishing for bass, did catch one on a swim bait with a 1000 size spinning reel on 6lb test. But since then I've been fishing ultralight, panfish basically. So I'm learning as much as I can on bass fishing. It's amazing how much we older folks can learn from a younger generation. Keep up the good info.

I live in Virginia, my daughter was diagnosed with leukemia the end of last year and I lost my job so I started to fish for the peace and stress relief. She has become obsessed with fishing as well! She loves your videos cause you catch the big girls. We want to start filming some fishing stuff too, and I love to hunt big ones now. I'd like to know how you judge bodies of water etc. Like choosing where to fish. And more tips and in depth tips on how you fish the swimbaits. When I'm able to upgrade to some better tackle and get a camera, I'll send you a picture of us with a monster! She'll be excited to show you and Liz a picture!

Excellent video! I dabble in bass fishing in North central Alabama, and you just increased my knowledge many years' worth. Thanks for that! My late old Uncle John was a great outdoorsman all his life, and he really knew his lore too. I remember him telling me, "You have to learn how to think like a fish", and I thought, that couldn't be too difficult! Fish aren't that bright. But what Uncle John finally got me to understand is, the intelligence of a fish is a different order of intelligence entirely, and the fish is the master of his environment, not you- Fish have their own sort of intelligence and discernment. So, thinking like a fish is actually an advanced cognitive exercise!

@MrFishBlood7 жыл бұрын
It is completely contradictory! One of the first tips he gives is to use the big worm... Because big bass are lazy, they want a big, easy meal... Cool, sounds like good advice, makes sense to me! Then he recommends buzz baits and big swim baits... Wait a minute... Buzz baits and swim baits are among the fastest baits there are! Which is it? I don't doubt he's caught some trophy bass with each of these techniques, but my guess is it had a lot more to do with other factors. Its the ad hoc ergo propter hoc fallacy... "A" happened right before "B", therefore "B" happened because of "A". Very flawed logic indeed.

I just wanted to say that watching your vids over the last few months have helped me catch 2 of the top 4 bass I've caught in my life. I'm just a pond fisherman from the bank, and being up here in Iowa, we don't make bass as big as what you have in the south, so my story may not sound as impressive as others. My personal best were 2 bass that both weighed 5-13 each. I caught them about 5 years ago just a few days apart in the same pond. I mostly fish topwater frogs and always used Scum Frogs because they were cheap, thinking a frog is a frog. I always used ultralight rods, cheap ones, and Fireline. Then I found you. I started watching your vids, the crashes, the hanging frogs off limbs (awesome tip btw), the rod, reel, and line selection, just everything you've produced. I bought some baitcasters, bought some longer mh rods, upped the ante on line, and definitely discovered not all frogs are the same. Anyways, thanks to you, our wife and your vids, 2 months ago, I landed my PB, a 6-10 beast in my book! And just 2 days ago I landed a 5-7. Not bigguns compared to your bruisers, but huge in my record book. So, I just wanted to thank you and I will keep watching and learning from you! Thanks man!

It has been quit a while since I watched your videos. Targeting bid bass From Nov. Thru. Feb. is great. I live in south central Florida and we have monster bass. I agree with all your tips. I use a 10 inch plum worm and slow moving it across the bottom. 11 and a half pounder is my PB. My wife has caught an 8 pounder. We fish twice a week just for the fun. We are not tournament people. People like you we need more of.

Love this video!! Butch Brown gave me some sage-like advice one time. He said that when big bass move into shallow water, they are much more likely to strike a big swim bait. He fishes the shallow water in the early morning and late evening and deep water other times. If you are fishing where they live, they most likely strike out of anger and the strikes are often just glancing blows. If you are fishing where they feed they commit to it and inhale the bait. He also said they get kinda stupid when they are in the shallows and feeding.

Longtime fisherman, but just now getting more detailed and successful. I've always been told slow movements in the winter for sluggish bass. I caught a 7 lb bass yesterday on 1/4 jig head with twin tail grub. I had been doing all small little twitches to slowly retrieve it. Finally, I had enough and decided to reel it in and head to the house. The moment I pick up my reel speed and the bait skims across the top, this bass comes and snatches it. My question, is that abnormal behavior or was I wrong in presenting a slow and sluggish presentation in my retrieval? I live in NE Ga, south of Athens, and was fishing a farm pond. Wasn't sure if I should treat small water different? Enjoy the informative videos and learn a lot, thank you!

And I go with my bro in law who has caught 100 of them now so we are on the spots for sure. Its all he fishes for and he's going to be a guide when he retires. Big fish are where its at!

watched this video about 6 months ago, i caught my pb in december of last year, never got to get exact weight on him but ive heard and guessed from over plenty of different people pros and comparisons to other biggons that my fish was over 14 pounds, ive also started to figure out the fish in florida and i catch big fish more often, caught a 6.8, 6.3, 6.2, 7.89, 7.58, 8.34 and too many 5+s to count in the past 5 months. florida fish like fast rips on lures, rattletrap rips, ripping jigs and letting them fall and flutter, and the huge momma i caught on december was on what i call big jig, a long skirted swim jig with a whole 4.5 inch craw trailer on the back, makes the presentation look larger and they commit more.

This helps a lot. I’m fishing for a 8-9 pound bass in a VERY public pond. I assume he is very smart cause I’ve been fishing for him for 2 weeks. He hates spinners. Spinners spook him. He doesn’t bite on swimbaits. I think the buzzbait might work. Thanks for info.

I have seen a bass swim right under the dock at my pond and he has got to be at least 20+ inches long. I couldnt see its belly, but I know it would be my PB if i caught it. I just have no idea how to catch it. the water is SUPER clear and is in southern GA. Lots of sunfish in the water, a few frogs, LOTS of lizzards in the area, small bass as well. I tried jerkbait, crankbait, texas rig worm and craw, spinner, a large jig with a craw attached to it, and I have caught a 3 pounder on a wacky rig about 10 feet from where i saw the big bass. I dont know what to throw.

state record in New Hampshire is 10 pounds. i would be extremely excited for a 6lb bass. with the winters the way they are, between early May to mid july is when they are the biggest.

Bama, Cullen talks about keeping that rod tip low to maximize hook sets on big fish. My question is, do you do this with buzzbaits too? I was taught to keep the tip up to keep that bait above water.
