They did not fail to criticise Castro but they did recognise all the good he achieved as well as the reported human rights abuses, some of which may have been due to the USA's unrelenting drive to force regime change. Any small state that looks like it might be able to make a go of socialism automatically becomes a target for the US. They really don't want anyone to think that socialism really might work. Truss has a lot of nerve criticising Labour on human rights related issues when her own party received accusations of human rights violations from amnesty international and presides over a nation where a third of all children live in poverty and there are an estimated (one must assume planned) 30,000 plus unnecessary deaths per year due to their deliberately punitive Health and Social Support policies. That's a possible death toll of 330,000 since they came to power; not counting the 50,000 plus unnecessary deaths due to their mismanagement of covid. 'Sharing a platform' with someone doesn't mean you agree with them. It's a stupid comment to make and if anyone thinks it means that there was some kind of collaboration involved they need their heads examined.
