Liz Truss squirms in fiery interview "That's Russian propaganda!"

Liz Truss defends her past comments in a fiery interview with GB News's Steven Edginton. The former prime minister was challenged on her previous views on immigration and Trans issues, and said she regrets calling herself an LBGT ally. She told GB News “there was a point there” in relation to Enoch Powell’s anti-immigration views, though condemned how he expressed himself. Truss also called for net migration to be cut to 100,000 and said her past support for Brits to fight for Ukraine was "too forward leaning".

That is what she literally said, and her reasoning for it is sound. Half the conservative party MP's are effectively lib-dems or blue dyed labour, she had to pander to them and try to be popular amongst them that is how party's work. Pointing at one set of comments and saying that is representative of all her core views is obviously dumb. If she was going to on all issues just say what she thought would make her popular she wouldnt have ended up resigning, because she wouldnt have tried doing anything differently or have been any different than Sunak who is a far better example of someone uninterested and unwilling to do anything unpopular with the MP's in the majority of the Tory party. If she was just trying to be popular with the Tory right-wing, grass roots or this youtube comment section she would have said many different things in the interview if you paid any attention. She wouldnt have been so stridently pro-Ukraine, she would have been far more anti-immigration and she would have pretty much never disagreed or clashed with ther interviewer.

Who cares? Are we Germany, Russia or the US? Let say it was the US, why do we care outside of the indirect effect countries like germany being dependent on Russian energy switching over has had on global prices increases? Is Russia a friend of the UK? Do we care about the damage done to the German economy? Do we care about what the US does in other countries with its military if we aren't involved? Russia is not a friend of the UK, its not even just neutral country towards the UK. The same can be said of the US and Germany, but unlike them Russia had recently attacked us by using incredibly dangerous chemical weapons on UK soil. If the reverse happened I equally wouldnt care as long as it didnt effect us, germany as part of the EU has harassed us for the last few years and the US is frankly a greater enemy of the UK than Russia could ever aspire to be. Even if you think that was somehow fake, which frankly from how little effort was made to cover it up I'd say its more likely it was done intentionally obviously by Russia as some form of threat, they have on many occasions directly threatened the UK and violated out airspace and waters. So again finally who cares? Given the political situation the answer seems pretty redundant anyway given germany was already trying to move away from Russian energy, which if anything probably indicates that Russia was the one to do it just to fuel this sort of questioning. If we had a real energy policy this would have literally no downside for us at all. End of the day whose side are you actually on? Are you pro-UK or pro-Russia? If its Russia just leave now and go enjoy the paradise you think exists there.

I don't disagree with everything Liz says, but the title of the 2010 Conservative manifesto was "An invitation to join the Government of Britain". I am not sure 2010 Conservative voters would agree with Liz that they were voting for a smaller state. They were voting for a different state. The offer of the Conservative right is very different again to that of 2010. Liz sounds quite sensible when she isn't spouting lazy, unintellectual nonsense about "the deep state", "the Establishment" and wokery, especially on Ukraine.
