One way is you can see quickly that the answer must be a decimal between 0 and 1, so 5^(-2) is the answer, but to solve it really, go from left to right -> (5)/(5)/(5)/(5)=(1/5)/5=1/25=1/(5^2)=5^(-2).

I struggled with this kind of math as a kid in school. everyone used to say at the time as a kid when will i ever use this ? i was righy as a kid and im right now. i never have to use this, it was a waste of time that i will never get back now im 35 i have a family kids married i own a house i have a good career my wife too. never have i ever need this and it was very stressful as a kid and a waste of time. got kids thinkibg i will never make it in life and im going to fail. I'm noticing that the symbol '÷' shows up in most of these math-parsing questions. The conclusion is that this is a stupid symbol to use, and that one should instead write proper fractions. Indeed, the two dots on either side of the line in the symbol '÷' shows where the sub-expressions should go. It is simply a kludge used on calculators because of their inherent limitations in data input. Therefore, I hereby declare all expressions using the symbol '÷' to be invalid anyway, and the correct answer to be 'undefined'.

I'm puzzeled by this. Repeated exponentiation is computed from the right, so 2^2^2^2=65536 and not 256 which you get if you compute from the left. But repeated division is computed from the left, why?😮

This is a TRICKY QUESTION that should not be put in any examination, because it means the examiner is tricking the students but not checking its capability to solve. Anyhow, if you're goung to start at the right side of equation, the last 5 cannot be use to divide to 5÷5÷5, so you have to put the patenthesis, it will be, (5÷5÷5)÷5. Then start inside the parenthesis, still most right side 5 cannot be divided to 5÷5 because of one more process, so put the parenthesis. Hence, [(5÷5)÷5]÷5. Now the equation is correct. Doing this kind of process in any math examination will CHALLENGE the examiner that HE/SHE does'nt know how to put a parenthesis or groupings that the EXAMINEE still needs to correct the QUESTIONS before answering it. It is not so different with LANDING IN THE MOON jusy to EAT THOSE STUDENTS brains.
