Changsha maglev express is the first of eleven cities that will used the medium speed maglev train.CRRC is building a maglev train in a vacuum system between cities at a designed speed of 2,500 km/hr.CRRC has built more than 27,000 KM of HSR at a cost of 400 billion dollars and is planning an additional 27,000 KM of HSR and maglev lines in a vacuum system.

Beijing S1 red line is the 2nd medium speed maglev line.Chongqing monorail line 2 is the 3rd medium speed maglev line to be built by CRRC .In 2014 Jiaotong University ,China s oldest railroad engineering school with government funding built and tested a small maglev train in a vacuum enclosure at 1,000 Km/hr.

As a Changshaer, I am really glad to see that what is happening in my hometown will be known by more and more people, especially foreign people. LOL

+MD H Is it true that the maglev is open now? It seems like a very short testing period.

+Luke Starkenburg it's open today. 2016/5/6

Are the gunshot noises at 1:15 devices used for scaring away birds from the fields?
@Luke_Starkenburg8 жыл бұрын
No, I probably should have made a comment on the video about it. It was still New Years firecrackers celebrations. The festivities go on for about a month.

Oh, even in the day :) Wow, haha! I am still so curious about the range of motion between the suspension magnet carriers (5 per car) and the vehicle frame itself. They must be on linear bearings which permit them movement from side-to-side relative to the chassis. Your long shots when the train leaves the depot hint at this.

I was just about to ask about the power pickup noise. I see you've covered it. Is there a spreadsheet available which compares the install, operating, and scheduled maintenance costs for each type of track type? e.g. standard rail, tyred tracks (e.g. Paris Metro line 1), and maglev? It seems the cost per unit distance makes maglev still very expensive vs standard rail.

I would like to know this too. I don't know if that information is publicly available, especially out of China. Maglev is more expensive to build, but cheaper to operate and maintain than conventional subway or rail. At least this is what I have been hearing from different sources. I'm not sure if this has been proven yet with real numbers.
@kongwee19788 жыл бұрын
+lohphat I came across an interview from CCTV or other source. It is 1/3 cheaper than conventional subway. But there is no detail about the cost.

this one is low speed maglev. Im from this city, as far as I know, this railway is more like a demo, to promote the use of this technology. It is quiet cost efficiency.
@Luke_Starkenburg8 жыл бұрын
But they built the maglev on a really necessary and heavily used route. I'm sure many people are using this train link between the subway/high speed rail station and the airport.

There is always the cancer issue though...not sure about it, but I believe world experts still contradict themselves on this issue. (who knows, same as for microwaves after decades of use some people start now telling us, it might be better not to use them). Why not simply build a normal rail way... unecessary show of face, in my opinion. I took Changsha maglev a few weeks ago, will post a video.
