Ryan Leslie and Nipsey really inspired me with moves like this. Isolate your fan base! Followers do not equal genuine support or dollars. 1,000 or 10,000 loyal fans that will invest in you is better than 1,000,000 followers and being devastated that your plans flopped because you cant figure out how to get real data. Get it, Lloyd! 💪
@MykwWayne Жыл бұрын
How did that work for either of them? And let's not discuss Nipsey after death
@Jrfusion08 Жыл бұрын
How many times will that 1,000 invest in you? 1, 2... eventually the 1,000 will drop to 500 and then 100. For Banks it makes sense. He isn't trying to expand his base at this point in his career. His tour numbers likely are decreasing every year (as most older artist face). He has a core base and likely trying to make one last big bag. It could work.

$100 sounds crazy to many but the thing is Banks released 5 mixtapes in the 5 & Better Series, he released Halloween Havoc 2, 3 & 4 free of charge as well. He released Cold Corner 2, V5 and V6. Money In The Bank 1-5, All or Nothing, Failures No Option, Blue Friday 1 & 2, The Big Withdrawal, At Your Request. If he was to charge $10 for everything he's ever released then its definitely over $100, and if you want to exclue the Money In The Bank because he used other people's beats well that still leaves 17 original bodies of work. Meaning it would come up to $170 plus tax. Ans dont forget before they used to charge around $14 or $18 for an album. But yeah since streaming has made things more accessible some people don't value music as much. It is very easy to critic as soon as it is released not even given enough time to promo a few singles from a project. Guys like a Tom Macdonald are doing every little thing DIY right down to his girl handles the video treatments. He sells boatloads of limited edition merch and even sells different items worn or featured in the music videos/album covers. Banks constantly sells out his merch and that shit aint cheap from him. These guys sell out 1000 people venues and tour making damn good money. Look at dudes like Tom, Prof, Struggle Jennings, Yelawolf, Adam Calhoun, Dax, Upchurch, they have figured out how to do this without the labels or mainstream exposure. I stream Banks, at the very least, 500 times a month. That's 6,000 for the year to listen to all his projects he has on streaming. I have Tidal, which pays artists, on the low end, $0.0125 per stream, that's $75 for the year I'm giving to my favorite artists. I pay $15 a month for my subscription, $180 for the year. So if Banks wants to drop a tape for $100 I'm buying two! 😤👑🐐💯

It's more about supporting the artist, on that fine art tip. Indie rappers with a solid fan base pull this off alot. I mean Mach Hommy literally sold HBO for 300 a pop and fans were copping it. Solid fans will support Banks

How many fans bought HBO at 300 a pop?

He's not Mach Hommys accountant. How would he know? @@Jrfusion08

@@Jrfusion08 dont know exact numbers, but I remember reading he once pressed 187 copies for 300 a pop and they all sold out. He sold them via the gram. That's excluding the cassette tapes and that vinyl and lighter pack

All this tapes are quality and timeless you can listen for free or pay. People whining but would do the same thing if could.

Banks gotta rest his feet on Nipsey's shoulders on this one. Everyone thought Nipsey was crazy for charging a 100 for his mixtape until Hov brought a 100 copies.

Got to KZbin and stream the music there

The issue is once you buy a particular artist album for 10bucks or streamed it for free its hard to up the price after years of being in the game and the harsh reality most rappers that come to this realization dont catch on to the math til their no longer top of the charts and people kinda forgot about them ,for the ones that got a cold core audience they can be winning

Why are we acting as if he is the first to implement the $100 mixtape and/or album marketing idea?!

It's only crazy to the normal folks who don't have their heads up their ass because they have money. If you have it, spend it. It's your money, but to say this ain't crazy in this day and age is stupid.

For music to sell at that high a price, it has to be non fungible and irreplaceable 💰

How many rappers 20 years ago were making $350,000+ a year off of music sales? When you see what counts as a stream.. those numbers may not be too bad. This is the richest the rap community has ever been as a whole. And I'm pretty sure it is largely due to streaming. People are getting heard from listeners just popping up on their music. Way more ears listening than they got before
@michaeljarrod9858 Жыл бұрын
Ain't no money in streams. The numbers google shows is incorrect ...you need a million streams just to make $150
