Bonjour, Je comprend que c'est frustrant car on peut avoir l'impression qu'ils veulent nous "voler" notre culture, mais finalement les reprises, mêmes anglo-saxonnes, permettent à la chanson de continuer à vivre . Et puis bon, au moins, elle n'a pas eu le traitement façon Bella Ciao par Naestro...

There were no cathars in France, it was the coumty of Toulouse (modern region of Occitania), with later Gothia or Catalunya in the kingdom of Arragon as we still held our independance and still spoke our language. Occitans have never been able to unite and pan-occitanism was never possible after the fall of the Wisigothic kingdom, because the coumts of Toulouse, Barcelone and the dukes of Aquitania couldn't put aside their differences to resist outside threats. The duchy of Aquitania when united defeated the muslims and the Omeyad Califate and they put an end to muslim expansion for a while, with the battle of Toulouse. But the duchy was weakened and the franks gave us no choice but to become vassals so that they wouldn't attack us and offered help against the muslims to take Gothia (or Septimania) back from the Omeyad (Languedoc and Catalunya).

And France wasn't even created yet, the royal possessions were very small and centered in northern France around Paris, they had some vassals with huge autonomy, we only talk about the kingdom of France after the XIIIth century.

@@gallici-anima-christiana I know Simon de Montfort was acting for Pope Innocent the III to take Occitaine following the Baron's war I know King John had land in southern France being one of the Barons his Castle is at Odiham north Hampshire I know the French forces landed & got as far as North Hampshire England near Odiham Castle quite remarkable.
