I worked for a rigging company for many years. The first week on the job, I was yelled at by the old timers about jumping off the flat beds to the ground, telling me that my knee joints would be toast after a few years if I kept doing that. I learned from them and I see you doing the same thing. Work smarter, not harder. Enjoy your videos.

It's amazing how many drivers don't even know that it is a federal requirement to wear boots or at least work shoes.
@bobh672824 күн бұрын
@kmg501 Because there is no federal requirement for them to know. FMSCA has no rule about foot ware for truck drivers. OSHA has only a reference that employers must ensure employees (not owner operators) have protection against foot injuries due to falling objects. Some companies have policies about footwear, but that is not law. If there is a federal requirement, can you tell me what law it is?

If you wear flip flops as a flatbed driver, you will get kicked out of a lot of shippers and receivers. They don't mess around with that.
@simonwhyld300325 күн бұрын
This appears to be a multi drop load, in these circumstances I would recommend running the straps under that pack and securing it over the top on the same side, if necessary run more straps over the whole pack. It will never shift
25 күн бұрын
If the warehouse had just done it right the first time, it wouldn't have shifted. They're lucky it didn't fly off on the highway because improper rigging is a public menace to life and property. Safety negligence should come with fines like $100k to make sure it doesn't happen by properly trained people verifying critical items.
@colinl901824 күн бұрын
In Australia the LOADER and Driver are held equally responsible if a load shifts dangerously or indeed comes off the trailer and injurs/kills a bystander or damages property.
@simonwhyld300324 күн бұрын
@@colinl9018 I find this interesting, I'm not doughting you, my first thought is that this can only work if the loader accompanies the load; obviously not viable. On the other hand, in the cases of sealed freight where the driver has neither any control or knowledge of the contents of his or her load, should the driver be 50% liable?

I like how you always use a shackle on the straps. At first, I wondered why not just run the strap straight through the hooks? But it makes sense. Those hooks experience high-pressure metal on metal contact, which creates a burr. Making sure your soft staps only touches smooth metal that never touches any other metal will allow those straps to last a very long time.

@JonathanSias24 күн бұрын
I believe the shackles he uses have a distinct wide radius in the belly where the straps go that keeps the integrity of the weave and protects the straps and prevents acute wear, especially in the loops. You could place the recovery hook directly in the loops, but the radius is much tighter and would wear out the synthetic weave much faster.
