Believe me, I totally want to keep trying to help others even though I get tuckered out now. Been doing what I can to serve God since Christ answered my cry to Him in August 1984. I was given an excellent God and country childhood and youth, lots of great extras but I mostly turned my back on God until I was 25. I finally got serious with God when I knew I was at the end of my own ideas about life in general. I am grateful for all the prayers and for the early years with excellent mother and grandmother and many dedicated Christians in the 1960' s and 1970' s

An easy way to thicken potato soup is with potato flakes that you make instant mashed potatoes with…if you want to save your cooked potatoes for chunking.

My mom made potato soup often when I was growing up. We didn’t have bacon in it. She’d make a big pot and we always had an iron skillet full of homemade cornbread to go with it. She would drizzle hot bacon grease over the cornbread before she baked it. Sometimes we would have cheese to put on top of our soup right before we ate it. That was one of my favorite meals♥♥♥♥

I still make my grandma's. just potatoes, water, salt, pepper. I'll usually add tumeric just bc I've heard pepper and tumeric are good for health. still surprises me how something so simple from depression era is so tasty

I accepted Jesus at age 11 so I've never faced being an adult on my own. It was such a life changing experience for me and as I walked with the Lord I began to give thanks to Him for saving me so early. I have been trying to remember my mom's potato soup recipe. She has dementia as well as my dad, and she just can't remember . She would always fix a huge pot when my brother and I were sick. Oh, it was wonderful!!!! Now, since my hubby passed away on January 12,2022, at the age of 59, and my 2 grown children live 3,000 miles from me (California), I have craved potatoe soup. Thank you! I also want to thank you for sharing scripture 🙏. I have also been without a vehicle since my precious husband passed (it was vandalized), and no one is willing to work on it...long story. But I believe in the power of prayer! Something as simple as this recipe is huge to me because I have been searching, and yes, praying to find potato soup recipe. Yes I love my potatoes a little chunky. To stretch it a bit have added sliced baby carrots and celery. They were left over and I didn't want to waste them. I just chopped them up and added to my potato soup. It was delicious. When you have a large family, you tend to improvise and make it more filling. God Bless. Love,respect and positivity always. My Mama always made her potato soup with both onions and celery-sorry Mama but I'm gonna add some shredded carrots next time- you always learn Good things on Miss Becky's channel. So let me add one that somebody else might use. About 5 years ago I had Bariatric stomach surgery- left me with a very crabby small pouch. Mine hates chunks of meat- even Bacon bits. Fooled her ( I firmly believe she's female) by putting my bacon pieces in my tea ball- viola no chunks but the flavor is still there. I grew up eating potato soup. My mama just put potatoes, onions and butter in hers and thickened it up with a rue of milk and flour. It was so delicious. I do like to put crispy bacon crumbles in mine and pour the black pepper on it. Oh course I have to have cornbread with mine. God bless you and your family.

I use frozen hash browns in my potato soup. Bacon bits, ham bits, cheddar cheese, can of cheddar cheese soup, onions, milk and sour cream. Mmmm!! Guess I'll go make some. I'm hungry now! 😅

FYI: You can use Chickpea flour to thicken soups and make gravy as well. I love potato soup. However, I can only rarely eat potatoes of any kind because of diabetes. A can of chicken broth, a can of cream of chicken soup, and some chickpea flour thickening makes a soup very much like potato soup and it will not spike my sugar levels.
