I just found your channel and I’ve been binge watching your content! There’s tutorials that I never even knew I needed 😂 I’m so excited to start incorporating these things on my channel! It’s unfortunately rare finding concise, helpful tutorials for these things so thank you!! Keep it up!

hi, when I tried it on my timeline it just does not allow me to throw the color board on the viewer so I got stuck on the first step TT is it because of the FCPX version I have is older? I am using 10.5 thanks!

Dumb question coming as I am a novice editor. Is there a way to fine-tune the motion after the fact after it’s been run through the tracker? For instance, if I want it to go a little bit more up-and-down, than side to side, is there a way to do that or would I just have to manually keyframe the whole thing?

I had someone someone on my channel ask me a couple days ago if locked on stabilization was possible with the new tracker. I mistakenly said I didn't think so, lol. Guess I was wrong! Great tutorial, Serge. I'll be directing subscribers to you when they ask about this 👌
@JohnJohnson-cy4xz2 жыл бұрын
Yes, very cool trick! For those who wanna know, the reason for flipping it is that the tracking will cancel out the movement of the original Clip, as the movement is exactly opposite to it.
@arlentan Жыл бұрын
Thanks, somewhat clarifies it for me. I was just thinking why doesn't the tracker automatically apply that "effect" and wondering why the hell we have to flip it
@bisket20032 жыл бұрын
Why is the flip and duplicate necessary??
@GeorgeYusuf2 жыл бұрын
Yea it seems so unnecessary, because both don't explain.
@smackent_9 Жыл бұрын
I think because the tracking is working in two different spots to create the effect. That explains as to why he duplicated the clip.

Great tutorial, thanks! Is there a way to track only the X axis, so that we can use it when reframing from a 16:9 to a 9:16 vid?

Really cool! Was still a mystery to me how to do this, you solved it for me, thanks! Can you elaborate on why the flipping back and forth is needed?

Nice video! Thanks for showing it and the TikTok sample. If you watch one of the videos on forcing this to work in Motion, I think you'll see why you flip both directions. This threw me off at first as well. What you generate is the path of the the tracked object, not a stabilization. That was where my own confuse was rooted. If we track the motion of an object and apply this motion to the clip as a transform, it doubles it. In Motion, they use "negate" to remove it. You either need to track the opposite of the motion you want to remove or track the motion and apply it to a reversed clip and then fix that. It would be great if they would add a "negate" toggle like they have in Motion.
@Sherwin2 жыл бұрын
@@EkLektro just to neutralize the movement. E.g. head moves up 10cm, we flip the tracking data to - 10cm. Then the head moves ""up and down" simultaneously results in a "stagnant" motion, literally staying in position. Hope this helps

I track the object perfectly and once I drag in the second clip over the tracked clip, the motion tracking box goes slightly haywire and becomes erratic when previewing the clip. Does this happen to anyone else?

@davidrfrench2 жыл бұрын
Imagine the tracker is generating a set of coordinates showing where the tracking point is compared to the original position. So x=3, y=5; x=4, y=2 etc, for each frame. What you want to do is subtract those from the x/y coordinates of the whole frame so the tracking point stays at x=0 y=0 for the whole duration. FCPX doesn't have a way to do this directly, but by rotating the image, you're reversing the x and y coordinates of the tracking data (x=-3, y=-5 etc) so when you offset the x/y coordinates by that amount, it has the same effect.

It doesnt work as of April 26th. When you go to the transform menu on the new clip to apply the face track you did earlier it no longer has a drop down menu. It is literally just gone.

I understand why the clip has to be flipped. Basically, we don't lock the face, we move the face always in the center of the frame! So in the original clip when the face moves up we have to move in the opposite direction to keep the face in the middle of the frame so we have to flip the clip

I don’t understand what’s the need of flipping clips, putting another one on top… I mean… If we put a tracker in the face then it should track and that’s it 🤦🏻♂️ I don’t understand the need of that mess in fcp.
