I really appreciate the video. I've been contemplating my first set for a while and have overlooked this set. Rather than agonize any longer, this will be the winner. I agree, the bypass tools could have been replaced with a more usable item, but the pick selection and room for expansion is what I like the most.

I think it’s a great place to start and can certainly be expanded. Did you see my full Best Beginner Lock Pick Sets video?

@@LockNoob Of course I have. All great options, but this one just seems right for some reason.

I bought this set as my first serious set. It really does make a difference to use professionally made picks. I got through most of my old practice locks with this set in very little time. Now, I have also invested in the Praxis set from Dangerfield that has two sets of picks in 18thou and 15thou plus some more different turning tools. But I keep them all in this Sparrows case because it's just so great.

i do wish sparrows would revisit the design of their turning tools; having them all made of the same thickness steel reduces their utility significantly, despite having three different widths available. also, this set would be much improved with three proper top of keyway turning tools instead of the redundant twisted L wrenches.

Have to agree especially on larger sets that include even more of the same 3 turners just adding standard L straight and twisted Z. I have gotten to really like the Toool triple set that are a straight Z with a short reduced width end for TOK and 3 thicknesses, 0.032”, 0.04”, & 0.05”; I believe they’re also in one of the LPL Covert kits. I’ve added them to every kit and use them quite often. I also use a couple from Southard, their long handle narrow 0.04” & 0.05” with the length trimmed down to fit TOK; I also have their standard widths which are a great BOK. The days of standard wiper blade inserts in kits should be over as the industry has come a long way and kits should really get updates. I wish someone started making the very short Multipick TOK tools as they work great but are just too pricy for what they are.

@@SparrowsLockPicks that was my complaint too when I bought the tuxedo set.

I have a folding case like that for my paint brushes. Of course it was the last one, now discontinued. I'd love to find a set of smaller ones for picks, screwdrivers and files.

I really like sparrows. You get a lot of bang for your buck. They get a bad rap for their twisted turning wrench. But that shouldn't be a reason to dislike a company. Great set, great video.

Personally, I prefer the twisted wrenches and only make them in that style.

I like the Sherman cases a lot more; the competition case is just both too big and too small, at least for me. It’s too big for pocket carry and just doesn’t have the same space for expansion that the Sherman case has, in the same foot print but just being slightly thicker. The Adam’s tool can be fine for some but tends to be not needed by most. The warranty voiding seems to be a common trend on every review but I don’t know anyone that actually has had a warranty issue on their pin picks go through as a broken pick will typically not be warranties as that’s normal wear and tear. Modify your tools however you like as the warranties, on pin picks, are pretty meaningless. Now yes it you get more expensive picking tools warranties can come into play regarding material defects but used and bent picks won’t be getting replaced, at least for the everyday person.

You don't even need it to retract all the way, once you get it out of its pocket.

the zipper on the case is on the wrong side. this way leaves a opening at the top the picks can fall out of. it really should be fixed. my picks always fall out of my larger sparrows case.

I don't see why Sparrows don't make their turning tools better fit TOK, the TOK ends look like they're a bit long, and how have they only managed to get nine turning end out of six tools, surely everyone likes a nice double ender?

Chinese sets can be good too, but you often get what you pay for. I also don’t get paid to review anything, though I do keep many of the items and I disclose that it’s a form of sponsorship
