I have locs and for me they are definitely a way of expression. Yes there are spiritual aspects to locs and the journey but I believe however one chooses to wear their hair is fashion. Whether you’re loose natural, relaxed, loc’d, or bald…it’s a part of fashion.

I feel locs are whatever you want them to be and no one should be able to tell you otherwise. It is not their locs or journey!

I got my sisterlocks for fashion, ease and the chance to go back natural. Turns out that what I thought was just a hairstyle turned out to improve my whole lifestyle. I’m humbled and grateful for the discovery ❤️🙌🏿

Everyone is different- I personally agree that going natural and growing my locs have enhanced my spirituality - I am Christian (Pentecostal) go figure. Growing up we were taught locs were bad, yet embraced hair weaves. I think there is a misconception that you have to be Rastafarian to feel that way, just like many of us only eat natural foods, not just Rastas. I feel "in-tune" with my locs, like I can connect to God better and have an inner strength - can't explain it - I will not cut them. While I have manipulated my hair in "fashionable" styles especially at my early and younger stages, I can understand that my hair is a plant and should be treated with care, too. The seeking after vanity after 15 years with my locs via braidouts twising, etc. did thin them out though and it was hard to see the spiritual connection! Now that I do less while keeping them clean and washing them weekly, I get it. It is what you want it to be!

I’m always confused as to why people can’t mind their business. Your hair choices should be no one’s concern. People love finding the smallest reasons to make themselves appear “better” on the internet. I love the way you handled it ❤️

I agree with everything you said in this video. I’ve done everything with my hair, from the Jheri curl (I’m 50 years old, lol) to perms to braids/weaves/kinky twists, to natural fros, twistouts, flat iron-you name it. But NOTHING compares to the love I have for the beauty, versatility, freedom and convenience of my locs. And I love what you said about being a Christian, which is much deeper than hair. ❤️

I'm 55 K Lynn and I have had everything you have with my hair. Including wigs snd pieces... and lets not even talk about the money spent chasing products. Had a love hate relationship with my hair since I was 10 years old or for 45 years! Only now with my locs have I found peace! And my hair is no longer unhappy and angry. A win win for all involved. I named my locs Vivian.

You owe nobody an explanation, but I think that the way you approached the comments is admirable. E very hair journey is applicable to the person on that journey and to nobody else. There are a lot who will chastise you about your locs, but have never delved deeply into the meaning or the history of them...if they had , they would not have had the need to leave a comment like that, but rather encourage you on your journey. Any way...I am grateful for your channel....both of them....your hair looks absolutely beautiful and I personally don't think you look boring with this style at all. Continue to be blessed and thank you for being a blessing. Peace

We are absolutely on the same page with why I started my loc journey! Some people do want locs for fashion but many of us have locs because we want a low maintenance style and to retain more length. My take on it is that people need to be left alone to choose how they wear their hair for whatever reason they may have. At the same time I also believe that we are all entitled to have our own opinion in matters. Btw you locs are really lovely!! Great content!!

Peace and Blessings my Beautiful Sister! I agree 1000% with you. I too have locs and don't feel my locs are solely spiritual. My relationship with The God is as you said deeper than my hair. My love for myself didn't begin with my loc journey. My love of self comes from me respecting The God's creation and the life and FREE will He has given all of us. My locs are no more anyone's concern just as others hair choices are not mine. Some with locs frown on insta locs or extention say you cheated. Cheated who? Yet some color their locs and are judging others. To brush or not brush locs? All these things and more are merely things to DIVIDE us. We all have opinions and value. We are individually and collectively Beautiful as long as we are not harming others. I connection with The God is from me being in tune with His creation and respecting His creation. Praying, fasting and studying His Holy Word are my foundation. I love and respect my locs; however I love and respect The God more. I love your channel and the way you use your platform. I pray The God continues to bless you, your family, channel and subscribers.

My locs are for fashion... No apologies..... its not my religion! I started my locs because was tired of perms. If you have locs for religious reasons I have no problem so don't mind me if I do it for fashion, we all have freedom of choice

I saw that comment and thought they’re entitled to their opinion... I’ve watched your channel from the start of your journey and it’s a good talking point, but your hair is an expression of you. People shouldn’t have to explain why they choose to wear hair in any way, at one time it was fashionable to shave our hair, wear our hair natural, relax it, wear a weave now wigs are the in thing 🤷🏾♀️ When or why do people decide that your hair is going to make them feel spiritually connected to something or is that a fashionable thing too🤷🏾♀️

When i big chopped from relaxers, it was indeed spiritual for me. Been loced for 2 years almost, and for me, it wasnt necessarily spiritual, but it did feel right, like it was time to do it. I always knew i would. I plan to always keep them, it saves me alot of time, and i love the way they look, which makes them indeed fashionable. As someone said in another comment, its an expression of you.

I have been following you since I've been loc'd 4 years ago. I truly truly enjoy watching your trials and error, your blessings of marriage, your beautiful baby and so on. I look forward to watching you (my favorite) lol, I just absolutely love your personality. So at the end of the day keep doing what you're doing, because people are gonna say what they want to say and we cannot let that Get in the way of our Blessing. Love the hair,color and cut. My locs are not spiritual either.. I got my locs cause I was tired of dealing with my loose natural hair.. I didn’t know what to do with it so I figured why not Loc it.. my moms hair was loc’d and my grand dad and my aunt and cousin so it was already in my family… I never looked at hair as spiritual.. and yea hair can be fashion… it is a form of expression…hair isn’t that serious to me.
@rodalyndavid26223 жыл бұрын
Why would someone try to tell you what your hair means to you? I am Christian and I think my locs are a deeply spiritual aspect of myself, but I do not apply that to others - it is personal. Everyone has their own purpose for starting locs! Jeesh!
@NOLAqueen504A3 жыл бұрын
To me, there is nothing spiritual about locing my hair to me. It’s HAIR, periodt! I personally loc’d my hair cause I didn’t wanna deal with my natural hair and stayed with faux locs all the time so just made sense to just loc up. I am not a religious/spiritual person either though.

I think locs are fashion for most of us. I know they’re spiritual for Rastafarians but I’m not a a Rasta. I loc’ d my hair because I like natural hair and loose natural is too time consuming and product consuming $$. I’m 2 year from retiring so the less I have do do with my hair the better.

@locdfitgirl66293 жыл бұрын
You do know hair was spiritual in the holy bible. I’m Christian as well by the way. Over and over men as example would make vowels and covenants with God not to cut their hair or put a razor to their face. Samson made that same covenant with God . He had 7 locs. When she cut his locs he lost his strength, his power and most importantly his anointing. Samson was also a Nazarene and that was the convenient they as a people made with God. Christ was also a Nazarene. Not spoken in the Bible but because he was born a Nazarene he most likely had locs as well and made the same vowel. So when you hear people say their loc journey is spiritual it does NOT mean they are not followers of Christ.

Thank you for your comment. Like I mentioned in the video I am coming from my personal convictions not in any way to convince otherwise. It was meant to create healthy conversation. ❤️
@locdfitgirl66293 жыл бұрын
@@DesireeMarie I wasn’t being argumentative. I was expanding on what you mentioned on being a Christian and locs being a spiritual journey. A lot of Christians do not know that. A lot people learn the story of Samson in Sunday school but was too young to understand the meaning. The comment wasn’t directed at you personal but most people that make that comment don’t know the scriptures that speak on hair and how it was used as a vowel/covenant to God. That’s all…

I get what you are trying to say. It can be both. Did you know that when you pray your head should be covered? That's just info for additional knowledge. That is in the King James bible. You are amazing and your hair is yours. I love that you made this a friendly topic for everyone to discuss. Some have loc journeys on a spiritual level and others like myself do both.
