I really liked that last apartment with the attached garage. I’m from Tennessee and we get tornadoes all the time. The tornado watches mean that conditions are favorable for the development of storms that could produce tornadoes. So be prepared. But the tornado warnings require immediate action and should be taken seriously.

I from NY too and when I moved to NC tornadoes was something different. I work from him and this past Thursday myself and and my son had to get in the closet we had a warning. I’ve been in a warning at work and we’ve had to take cover. We get a good bit, not as many as further west. I’ve always wanted to move to Texas but the tornadoes are the number 1 reason why I haven’t. Like you said we have to trust God in all things. But even strong thunderstorms sends me into a panic. It’s just too much for me.

Congrats on moving. If you think Dallas city is bad when it comes to driving, Houston is worse. You may want to check out the Dallas surburbs. Might be better than the city of Dallas. I don’t like driving in the city of Dallas either. Even Houston surburbs life is different. I’m a Dallas-fortworth native btw.

Oh wow! Congrats! I live in Houston and love it, for me it fit better than Dallas. I love the heat and people are more down to earth. But Texas overall is a great move, I'm from NY like you! You will love it and it will be good for the family.

Welcome..I am from Dallas and love it here. I do visit Houston and Austin from time to time and enjoy my time and love the vibe. During warning we(my family) check the news and go to sleep been here all my life.

I'm from IL but been in Dallas area since 2010 so i'm used to the crazy weather. Houston is cool cause you're closer to the beach, which is why I'm considering moving down there from Dallas. But either way you can't go wrong especially if you love the heat.

Desiree, I do not know if would make difference but if you like laid back traveling, you can get train compartment room with seats than fold out to be top and bottom rack beds (all meals included in the cost) from Houston TX to New Orleans. The trains from New Orleans take you to Eastern Seaboard. We did to DC for Presidential inauguration. The train keeps going north so we had day in DC and when train back head back home. Secret Service does not allow moving train during ceremony but we could stay underground train terminal rather than just the DC chill. We love our seafood restaurants and smooth jazz on the Gulf Coast. Mardi Gras (2 weeks of parades and the Essence festivities in July around 4th. I used to be afraid of the weather but my mentors reminded me to pray and keep stepping. Now, I look for the age of the property. For example if built before 2005 Katrina and is still standing just finding an apartment that has an interior space without windows. Keep batteries for charging radio, and phone fill bathtubs with water for washing and cleaning and bottled water or the Kent Water type water cooler for drinking and cooking. And do not forget, "Houston we are clear for blast off". Most important go for gas rather than electricity for stove especially if you invest in portable generator because we do have power outages.

Hello and welcome to Texas. Native Dallasite over 30 years. It would be helpful to let us know the exact location of these apartments to be able to tell you about the 'truth' of that area. Moving to Mexico within the next year. Tornadoes are not common; just the warnings. Was in a tornado in 2016 but sustained no damage in our area.

I don't live in Texas but l have family in both Dallas and Houston and my family prefers Houston if you're young professionals and like the city vibe. Dallas is a little more conservative from what l've heard but l don't know personally. So exciting!

From Michigan not Texas, but traveled there for work quite a bit. The driving is crazy, the expressway situation…… You are driving along and it’s time to exit and you just have to zip off. WTW!!?? Loved the apartment with the garage. Dallas is more cosmopolitan than Houston, Houston a bit more laid back. Both have GOOD FOOD though. Houston has water and I need water in my life.

@@DesireeMarie The apartment with the garage is NICE! Since you didn’t list the name I’m hoping that one is a contender! The neighborhood Exchange 7272 is in is pretty sketchy. Those apartments USED to have a bad rep but I hear there’s new management that has cleaned them up. The other 2 apartments were in Addison and that is a pretty good area. I’m partial to Dallas but have also lived in Houston and it’s totally different. If you think Dallas has bad drivers, Houston is way worse. But Houston is really just a different vibe! And tornado watches aren’t nearly as scary as the tornado warnings. But yeah we don’t anything lol.

I think hurricane Harvey hit Huston some years ago. There was a lot of damage. Texas is a huge state so I know you will find the perfect apartment. Moving can be a lot of work, but well worth it. By the way I love your glasses. What's the name of the frame? They look good on you.

I moved to Dallas last august and it’s kinda boring 😑 I moved here by myself… I’m kinda thinking about houston .. watch out for the “flying roaches “ they so lovingly call water bugs . They do get in sometimes . Don’t let them trick u into thinking they are water bugs THEY ARE ROACHES. Outside roaches that get in .
